1. After reading C's Dad's post, have you guys seen any good Freshmen pitchers during all of the playdays and scrimmages going on? Loved the post by C's Dad, by the way.

Caitlin Cornelius of Huntland. Threw 2 no hitters this year.

  2. QUOTE(Way2Go @ May 8 2007 - 02:33 PM) 826454581I wasn't blaming the umps either, read my later post! I well understood her post and her comments and I agree that it would be easier with more umps. There would be less errors if there were more.

By the way, we had 3 umps. 1A to. I wonder why we had three and some of the larger schools or classifications had two?

Who is responsible for getting these at torney's?

  3. QUOTE(Way2Go @ May 8 2007 - 01:17 PM) 826454504Pardon my LOUDNESS, I seem to make less mistakes typing if I type all caps.!!!

I agree with the strike zone problem. Not just with our area, but ALL areas. One time the pitch will be a strike and the very next pitch will be at the same place and will be called a ball. Go figure??!! I have never seen a very consistent ump with the strike zone. The good thing is, that is usually works the same for both sides.

Yes you are correct, but what I meant to say is that I would like to see the strike zone (from chest area to knee ) called a strike. The pictchers are taught to keep the ball down, and when they are squeezed to pitch to the waste, the batter is going to tee off!! I was thinking more of a saftey concern.

  4. QUOTE(ice @ May 7 2007 - 04:39 PM) 826453699FYI-Typing in all capital letters is refered to as shouting at someone on a message board. Could you quiet down just a little bit please. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Just kidding with you a little bit, but it really is supposed to be rude to do that. There are really a lot of people who blame the umps but gretchen is not one to do that at the drop of a hat. It really was a bad call at 1st base but nobody is perfect. That ump is usually a pretty good one. Good Luck Lady Raiders!!! You've got what is takes to come back and win this district tournament. Just keep the bats going and keep the hoping that the pitchers are allowed to have 4 corners! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

What I have a problem with is the STRIKE ZONE!!!! 90% of the umps we have seen have been inconsistant and will NOT call

a pitch a strike at the knees!!! Read the rule book and call a strike a strike according to the rules!!!!!

  5. QUOTE(luckynumber3 @ May 3 2007 - 12:37 PM) 826450892Who are some of the top pitching coaches around the Tullahoma, Shelbyville, Murfreesboro area?

Looking for someone to help with pitching.

    Club K without a doubt

  6. QUOTE(hssportsfan @ Apr 13 2007 - 09:01 AM) 826436583Young and thin. Looks like they are working hard and giving effort. Just not a lot of experienced softball skill there. It's almost impossible to wait til they are in High School to develop the skills to compete with top teams. The small schools in our area that are not made up of primarily travel ball players struggle. Unionville, Eagleville, Moore Co, and Santa Fe all come to mind, and there are many others. The small schools that do have a majority of their players that play travel ball do well like CA, Forrest, Cascade, Cornersville, and Richland. Just the nature of the game at our level. I'm not sure that age is that much of a factor. It has more to do with playing lots of high level ball before you get to high school to develop the skills. TCA as an example won the state in 1A last year with a freshman and an 8th grader doing almost all of the pitching.

Your right. Travel ball has done wonders for the experience levels for kids. I know for our group ( Huntland ) we have two senoirs playing so we are very young team.

  7. QUOTE(Raiderfan05 @ Apr 12 2007 - 07:06 PM) 826436185I want to know what the opinions are of the team from people who have seen them play

They are young arent they? Thats the impression that I got. We are the same way, its frustrating, but they will eventually mature.

Do any of them play travel ball?

  8. QUOTE(chs4life @ Apr 11 2007 - 11:38 AM) 826434841First of all it's a District not Region. Competition is better with Coffee co., Columbia, Lawrence Co. and Tullahoma being good. This district will compete in Region play, trust me.

I have seen Coffee, Tullahoma play this year. Both look strong. CHS, would you be Mr Swann?

    How's that?

    Greenman, you are the man.

  10. O come on, you no they couldn't stop our passing attack, Derrick would have a field day on this years DBs, I am not sayin their not good but i just dont think there is as much all around talent on this years team as last years. But i cant wait till they play M.P.

Anyone know record of Perry Co, Collinwood, and Zion?

  11. all called - all declined - looks like the Hornets are done - all competition (1A-5A)has been contacted including the mighty private schools and all declined - looks like nobody wants any- thats a real shame- yes , we had our chances and didnt capitalize but our team deserves to be in some form of post-season play- only 7-3 team in the state(1A-5A) not in playoffs----whats wrong with this picture?????????????

I agree, something wrong with that picture. Well congrats to all Huntland football

players and coaching staff on a good season. We closed out very strong and have a good group of kids to build on for next year. I for one am proud of everyone.

  12. we were a pretty young team this year, only 8 seniors and not all of them started. Losing several good ones though, 55, 40, 70,& 20 moving on will hurt

55 the LB? He was a hoss. Your right, those are good ball players, I remember the numbers from when we played.

  13. Last I heard was Loretto, but don't hold me to that. You folks are definitely the best team in the state to not make the playoffs this year, we had 5 very good teams in the region this year and someone had to be the odd man out, sorry it was you folks.

Well at the same time we should have beaten one or two of the teams we lost to.

Just as long as we close out strong and get ready for next year. I think Perry Co

has a good staff and some players, give him time and we will have even more stronger teams in our region.

  14. Anyone know who we are playing in the bowl game in Columbia?

Men in blue played very tough Friday night against CA, 7-3 and not going

to playoffs......... Whats wrong with that picture? The boys should be rewarded

    for their efforts.......

  15. Hornets running game was good. Simmons and Cole ran well. The d had interceptions, with little Davis and Jones returning one for td. Good luck to CA during the playoffs.

Im very proud of our Hornets. They played the best Ive seen as a team in a while. Keep it up when we go to Columbia again this week........

  16. This game has been brewing up for a while now. The Trojans have seen Wayne County play every week, so they know what to expect. If the Trojans shut down CJ the Trojans will get an easy win. If not then then its a barn-burner. Either way I say the Trojans win. The cats arent going to pass the ball thats for sure.

    Here Kitty, Kitty.

    :thumb:

Ive seen both play this year. Both are good football teams, I think Wayne CO wins. CJ is the difference. 20-6

  17. who is "we" , what team, i mean?

you are right and my bubble will not burst because pc is out of the playoffs, they are playing for pride and maybe a chance to ruin someone post season chances.

they may not win but they will definitly not quit, until the last horn sounds.

we have great coaches who never quit coaching because perry county has a lot to learn before we can be a consistantly winning team.

i love the intensity the coaches bring here to perry county, our fans are not the most educated about the game...yet.. but you can watch the coaches to find out if the play went well or not. or if the refs made a bad call.

especially if coach bradley loses that visor!!!!!!! lol

a great coach never quits coaching and we have three great coaches on the highschool and coach laster in middle school is the same way. never quit!!!

coach rice has done a great job here and we hope he stays for a while longer. :D

i am not going to rule out a victory for the vikings because they will be ready to play, especially this week against the boro.

nothings better than beating waynesboro. they know because of the bb rivilry and i am sure wayne co wants to beat us bad to. anything can happen in a game like this one.

i still say the vikings by 3. :D

We is "Huntland". Your right, you do have good coaches and fans. I was on PC sideline during the game. Coaches and players intense. Good group of kids.

Middle LB was huge. IS he being recruited?
