1. QUOTE(N2Choctaws @ Mar 6 2007 - 06:36 PM) 826402671Don't mention this group of Choctaws in the same breath as Butch. He was two coaches ago.

As long as Dyersburg middle school has an outstanding basketball program with over 100 kids trying out each year; Other schools will always pick up a few looking for chances that might not be available at DHS. Ripley, Lake Co., Dyer Co. Dyersburg, and Obion Central have all gained and lost players to each other's program in several sports over the last few years. Tell Justin, Dejuan, D'Angelo. or Steven they were recruited. They will probably set you straight, on second thought they are probably too polite to respond accordingly.

Where's your team playing next Wednesday?

Yea u might be right, BUT if not them then it was Barbee. Whoever it was its recruiting for example this is recruiting; Giving rides to players to newbern, buying shoes for younger basketball players, hmm and the latest paying for Dyersburg players meals at Applebees. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  2. QUOTE(NorthNorth @ Mar 1 2007 - 09:50 PM) 826396166Actually, yes i dont care what happened...... 15-3 is a murkin..... sorry yall did get it handed to yall the other night obviously /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Haha get em! yeah i agree with that, you can mark Covington off the top ten in the state for this year. I didn't see much the other night, but maybe top ten in west tennessee???

  3. Tonight Dyersburg scrimmaged defending state champions Covington at Dyersburg and Dyersburg won, I think the score was 14 or 15 to 4 im not sure. Its hard to tell by just a scrimmage game, but could Dyersburg be the real deal this year?

  4. QUOTE(NO.1TROJAN @ Feb 16 2007 - 08:00 AM) 826374205

The player DID NOT swing at anyone... but he did say somethings that were said out of anger however that still does not justify that they were wrong and it was embarassing to the school. One comment that was mention was that the principal addressed the player and reminded him that he represented DHS...... may I suggest that perhaps this same comment be presented to the coach. Remarks were made over the radio station that were very unprofessional by Coach Brown towards the team and players mention in the locker room comments from him suggesting that ...."he was ready to move on to other sports or other things that he enjoyed far better then coaching boys basketball at DHS"....... Administration there is a problem here and if you do not get a grip on it and quick........ the next time it might be a entire team transferring............... I honestly cannot believe that you all do not see the problem perhaps you don't care..... but this is a wound that is getting bigger and bigger and it needs to be taken care of and now not later.

NO.1 Trojan i swear u must be one of those 80 year olds sittin in the chairbacks cause u have no clue what your talkin about but all u can ever say is somethin negative about the coach. what is the wound that ur talkin about?what has the coach done this time in ur eyes

  5. I heard this morning that a player from Dyersburg ,I know the name but won't say in case it's not true, got into a verbal altercation with Coach Brown after the game and told him he couldn't coach..that they could get a coach out of a cracker box that could coach better than him,and supposedely took a swing at Brown..I heard the player was put in alternative school..again..Not sure..may not be true..Someone from Dyersburg close to the team may know more.. Again..Just a rumor..the Soap opera continues!

Yes there was a problem after the game, but no there were no punches or stuff like that taken place so he did not "take a swing" at the coach.the kid wasn't put in alternative school for that either ha....rumors

  6. QUOTE(westtn2004state @ Feb 15 2007 - 09:56 PM) 826373809

I was trying to be nice..If you are going to start something, then finish it. Say WHO you are, and WHO your talking about. Im tired of the "beating around the bush" stories about politics and who shouldnt and should make the team. Stamp that.

Please all of ya stop... this arguing is makin me sick, it makes me just wanna quit getting on coacht... i thought we were talkin about how district 13AA was going to be this year? how about we do that

  7. QUOTE(DCfan74 @ Feb 12 2007 - 11:49 PM) 826369699

Well, Dyersburg has added new players to the team. No one seem to know where they came from. I guess they fell from the sky. One of them is very good. I'm not sure about the other. I would be checking for transfer papers if I was Gibson Co. Should be a close game. I give Dyersburg the edge by a small margin.

One of the players your talking about you, Dyer County should know about since you have tried to recruit him this year

  8. QUOTE(GCPioneer @ Feb 12 2007 - 07:09 PM) 826369253

Gibson Co. and Dburg square off for the 3rd time this year in the first round of the district tournaments at Martin..GC lost the first game by 3 and the second game by 1....Can the 3rd time be the lucky charm??? Winner of this will go on to the semifinals to face the Choctaws...What's everyones thoughts and predictions on this first round matchup??

no this will not be the lucky one for gc. dyersburg should send them home on tuesday night

  9. okay this thread really shows how clueless you DC fans are about the game of basketball and the behind the scenes of the DHS basketball program. so here are some points to clear up all the BS yall talking!!

    1) a point guard is allowed an arm bar to prevent the reaching in of an opposing player and DC guards were reaching and hacking all night long and further more you show me a player who uses no arm bar and ill show you a sucker

    2) Justin Blake transferred last year because he was unhappy with his position of coming off the bench... he was the sixth man last year on a team with 8 seniors and he didnt even play the same position as either of the Brown boys... Blake felt that as a first year varsity player averaging only 6 points that he should start over a two year starter in Stuart Taylor before even the first half of the season was over

    3) the elder Brown was the leading scorer on last years team, second in assists, leader in steals, best free throw shooter, and set school records for charges taken in a season and career and those can more than likely stand as state records as well

    4) Coach Brown DID take his son out of the game following the technical did he not? Now let us go back to the first DC DHS game how many technicals did DC have and how long did the players stay out? ANSWER too many to count and barely even a minute

    5) all of this is just funny to me how people who know nothing of a situation can easily point a finger at a young kid who is busting his A** and trying to win games and a coach who works hard and gets the most from the talent he is given

if you all know so much of the game and can do know wrong then why in the world are you in this forum and not coaching at a major university winning an NCAA championship? oh wait you didnt graduate high school!!!

    ~THE PROPHET HAS SPOKEN!~

  10. This is an awfully weak district but the teams are pretty close so maybe it will make for some good games.

i agree that the teams are weak when compared to the rest of west tn.... these teams are battling for a runner-up region finish and a quick exit in the substate... all the teams are evenly matched in this district and here is how i see it playing out based on what i saw this summer as i saw each and every team play multiple times...

    1)Crockett Co.

    2)Dyersburg

    3)Dyer Co.

4)Obion Co./Westview (depends how the shots are fallin)

    6)Gibson Co.

    7)Milan

  11. Have any of you kids out there been to Dyersburg to watch this Bryson Horner kid run. He is pretty fast. Had some mental mess-ups early this year but this kid is really showing why he is one of 09s best.

Along with Bryson, Dyersburg has a fleet-footed junior they call him "Crazy" who runs seldomly since earlier in the year ran over a catcher in a tournament in Halls. Since then, he has cooled off and ran smart around the basepaths. This kid will be well-known by his senior season, he runs like a mad man around the bases.

  12. Bryson Horner for Dyersburg is going to be a future big time prospect for many d1 schools. this catcher can block anything and throw out almost any chump that has tried to steal off him this season so far. Look out for him on the basepaths too. He will be a force later in his career. His base running needs some help right now,..............but luckily Hunter Newsome will helllp him..............he is very fast

Hunter Newsome??? Isn't he that guy who plays football running a 4.5 4.4 40? He would be a big help to anyone when you are talking about speed.

  13. Last night Dyersburg showed the offensive explosion that they possess!!!!! they had 35 points in the first quarter and had over 60 at halftime...... had Coach Brown not pulled the varsity with one minute to go in the third quarter Dyersburg easily could have put triple digits on the board.... the Trojans hit 10 threes in the game and shot around 65% in the first half.... And oh by the way Munford was held to i under twenty points in the first half as Dyersburg's in your face man to man full court pressure stifled the Cougars offense...... When the varsity was pulled in the third D-burg was ahead by 52 points....... For all those who want to see a high intensity and passionate group of young men then Dyersburg High School gymnasium is the place for you!!!!!! Dyersburg faces a talented Halls team tonight so for all of you basketball fans with nothing to do on Tuesday come to DHS and be ready for a team with HEART!!!!!!

  14. Hardin County is a tough team to beat. They have it all real good pitching, hitting, fielding. This team could very well win the state tourny this year. If Wood can pitch like he has all year then he could very well lead them there and get the Win. Wood is very determined to win evey game that he pitches and by the looks of it his team loves him to be on the mound. this team is the best in the west and they have the best players in the west like DEREK WOOD, ADAM MILLIGAN, and some more Good luck hardin county keep in up  thumb

    825652041

Yes, they are fairly tough to beat, but get real winning the state tourny??I don't know about that, I think it will be pretty tough match for them to come out first in the district

  15. With Dyersburg losing 5 or 6 seniors they will have to have a few of our sophmores to step up cause we will only have two seniors but, we still have two of our best players PG Shaunda Strayhorn and C Kayla Holloway hopefully these two could lead them into a pretty good season

Yes, whoever asked if they are AA yes they are next year

  16. Smuff,

I'll always be for good old West Tennessee...but you're making us look bad with all this political stuff. Good grief. Be "a politically correct Republican". Who cares? Besides the fact that we're not all republicans, THIS is a sports site!

Go get yourself a blog. No offense, but this is about sports.

    825617999

From what I have heard about Megan Lyons is lots of people are asking if she is the best we have ever seen and he said she's good but not the best, which that is just saying no politics about it, I will say out of all the teams Dyersburg has faced the best players are including Megan Lyons, Allysha Clark, and Sha Brooks. If your asking the best then no I wouldn't say Lyons either like Smuff it would definitely be Allysha Clark
