  1. On Wednesday the game will be at West and for the rest of the week the games are going to be at Frank Lorino

That stinks. It's pretty bad to have such a good preseason tourney on such a CRAPPY field when there are OTHER fields around in much better shape. The people at East need to light a fire and get Sherwood finished. It shouldn't take two years to fix the field.

  2. Tell Casey that I wish him the best. We struggled his last two years at Cocke Co. I am sure he is ready for a winning season with enough players to not worry about whether he is going to have enough show up to play. My son is now at Greeneville, hoping to help out all he can. Good luck this season.

  3. Hey you Cosby fans are unlike any other that I have seen on coacht. You trash your team with tongue firmly in cheek. Is that an East Tennessee defense mechanism or what? May have something to do with that thrashing the Easterners took at the hands of the Westerners last year. You say your teams are terrible so that when you lose you can say I told you so, and if you luck up and win you can say "Surely you guys didn't take me seriously about not being any good." Why don't you me people MAN UP and tell us what you really feel about your team. Or is that asking the impossible?

If you have any questions how we feel about our Cosby Eagles, then all you have to do is look at all the threads that have been started about them, and then sit back and read. We think that Cosby is the greatest, plain and simple. But why would we be dumb enough to get on here and give all the West TN people a free scouting report? :thumb:

  4. You've got to remember though. It was Sevier Co., the perrenial cellar-dwellers in District 3. Good team to get your feet wet with. When is the next Patriot scrimmage?

What was that about the cellar-dwellars..??

    Final score

    SCHS-12

    JCHS-8

No thats not a typo either..Sevier County wins.

Season starts in 6 days..Hope everyone is ready.

  5. From Knoxville, head on I-40 East bound

Take the I-81 Split on I-81 North

    Exit at Exit 23.

At the bottom of the ramp, take a right towards Greeneville and go around 12 miles.

    After the 12 miles....

Take the ramp for US 321 (Not familiar with signage, but it May be US-321 Business or Truck Route....either way you want to get off of 11E and Onto 321 aka W. Summer Street) once off the ramp to get off of 11-E on to US 321 you'll see an immediate redlight. Take a right at the redlight. (BE careful, the road the ramp comes on is busy, and cars in the outside lane there usually merge on to turn lane at the light)

From there You will be on a 4-lane high way and you'll top a hill and see LandAir transportation company on the right hand side. Stay in the inside lane. Cross the railroad tracks - go through the redlight.

You will pass Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Immediately after the Hosptial there is a traffic signal. Take a left at the light and Hal Henard is the second school on the right.

Hope that helps. (Better than the directions Yahoo! Maps gives)

Hey Seth, that would be Tacoma Hospital, not Laughlin...

  6. Someone said that Crouch scored from second base on a passed ball the other night--is that true? I don't believe that I've ever heard of that done before.

It could happen depending on how far away the back stop is and how far away from the catcher the ball was. Also, it could have been that the catcher made a bad throw to 3B trying to throw him out.

  7. EJ caught some in the summer and fall and is quite active back there with a good arm, but I hear that the job is Miller's until/if he shows he can't make it happen day-to-day. Both Belcher and Miller will have to show some maturity as first-time starting juniors, as will Long and Sherrod as first-time starting sophs (provided either one starts), if Jeff wants to go from good to great. First base is also going to be a question mark. Who is going to catch for Greeneville?

Kory is capable of being the everyday starter. He is a hard worker and perfectionist, and can make a pitcher better. He has caught for my son the last 2 summers and fall, and he has always brought out his best for every game.

As for Greeneville, a kid named ?Merkel?.. or at least that is what my son has told me..we are new to G'ville this year so I am having to learn the kids' names.

  8. Per article in Newport Plain Talk:

Athletic Director Larry Williams announced yesterday that

out of some 30 to 35 applications, they have narrowed

that number to seven. Those seven candidates will be

interviewed through next week beginning today. Although

names have not been released, Coach Williams says that

of the seven candidates, one comes from Middle

Tennessee, another from Kentucky, three from Georgia

    and two from South Carolina.

The interviews are being conducted by Coach Williams,

School Board member Ken Johnson, CCHS Principal Gary

Williams, and CCHS Assistant Principal Dennis Balch.

Coach Williams says they hope to narrow the field to two

to three finalists by the end of next week, and hope to

name the new head coach by the end of the month.

The new coach will replace Wes Jones, who resigned just

days after the close of this past football season, a season

that saw the Fighting Cocks go just 1-and-9.

  9. i played with belcher over the summer he has a great stroke and can be a great pitcher but he can get frustrated on the mound. heck have to keep a level head on the hill. thats his only problem

That is true about Joey..he has good velocity and a good curveball, but if he gets upset over anything, he has a hard time keeping his composure. I have seen Joey play summer ball the last 3 years, and he has the stroke to hit a few out of the park on any given night, especially on an inside pitch. I am anxious to see how he handles the pressure of varsity play.

Who is going to be the starting catcher at Jeff this year? Kory Miller has the talent, but I don't know if someone else has more senority than him.
