  1. I know it's early, but does anyone have any predictions on District 2AAA ?

Cocke County is breaking in a young, inexperienced coach and has low player turnout the last few years. M'town East lost their best player to Maryville (Basile). Greeneville lost it's best player to graduation (Venerable). M'town West is stacked with young talent, and only lost a few players to graduation. Jeff always reloads with talent each year, but lost their top pitchers to graduation (Chapman, Bowlin, Ausmus, Jenkins). Cherokee also has a young team, but lost some key players to graduation (Pearson, Weaver).

  2. Being out of town stinks sometimes. The girls are playing and the boys are playing. I'll have a nice Thanksgiving feast today, attend a baseball coaching camp Friday and also see a basketball game Friday night and a football game Sat., UT at UK. Loaded weekend, but it would be nice to get some updates on the Cylcones games. Anyone help???

GLee...this is off subject, but I saw your post on the East TN Riverdogs on the AAU post. Not a plus member so I couldn't post there. My son is interested. If you would, email me and I will give you some info and stats on him. bmcclure@landair.com

  3. thank you greendevilmom for that post. we do get some coverage at cosby and i am greatful for what we get. it would be nice however to get part of the player of the week show on saturdays for football. i dont think its fair for my players not to have the same opportunities as the cocke county players. speaking of which any news on who might be there new head football coach there. back to cosby basketball. they have the talent to do something this year. very deep coming of the bench which is always good. the key to there success will lie in the " play as a team consept." Blakely needs ( not saying he is not) to be the leader of those guys. he needs to have that step up tell it like it is get your head straight kind of leader. big things can come from this if they have that team play they can make the road to the boro run though cosby. i think that WLIK will be broadcasting the cosby vs harriman game on the 2nd. well lets get some sleep and happy thanksgiving everyone. dont forget that cosby football baby we are getting ready for next season as we speak.

    Go Eagles,

    Coach Shelton

I know Timmy personally, and he is the type of player that will step up and be a leader. I hope he can have a great year and go on and play college ball. Being a product of Wade Wester, he should make it to the next level. I know how serious he is about basketball. As far as the new football coach, I have no idea. My son doesn't go to CCHS anymore, hence the singon name, so I don't keep track of what's going on there. Tell the guys good luck for me.

  4. GO EAGLES...

I agree with Coach Shelton on the Player of the Week. Cosby deserves just as much recognition as CCHS, maybe even more with the way Cosby is playing and the way CCHS is slipping. Maybe CCHS needs to go with Cosby and put an ex player & student as head coach. It couldn't be any worse.

What time is the game and where is it being played? Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but don't live in Cocke Co anymore, and don't read the Plain Talk other than on-line, not that I get any info from the internet site either.

  5. COSBY EAGLES... no question about it. They are stacked with talent...

TImmy Blakely should easily avg 20+ per game

    Dexter Manning 20+ per game

    Todd Jenkins 20+ per game

    Jody Lowe 10+ per game

    Cody Lowe 10+ per game

    Kelvin Rone 15+ per game

    Dwight Hewitt

One ball may not be enough to go around with this arsenal. Look for them to heat it up from long range, with Blakely cleaning up the garbage in the paint.

    GO EAGLES!!!

  6. Cosby is stacked with talent. Don't know if one ball is going to be enough to go around. Didnt loose much talent last year, so this year is looking to be good. Need to find a true point guard. The Lowe twins are one option, but struggle with ball handling. Todd Jenkins is another option, but you don't want him tied up with ball handling duties, he is too good of a shooter for that. The same for Dexter Manning. Timmy Blakely is going to be a horse inside. I think they need to get him the ball more this year. Last year they played long ball, and Timmy didn't get the ball much inside.

New coach Richard Coggins is a good fit. He is from the area and knows the kids from seeing them grow up. He was the assistant coach last year, so the kids know him. I think the administration at Cosby made a smart move by giving the job to him. They have too much talent to have to worry about breaking in a new coach who doesnt know the kids.

    GO COSBY!!!!

  7. THE MAIN THING WITH CCHS IS KEEPING TERRENCE DRUG & ATTITUDE FREE. MAYBE RAY CAN GET HIM UNDER CONTROL, BUT I DON'T LOOK FOR IT TO HAPPEN. IF WADE CAN TURN THE FRESHMAN TEAM AROUND, THEN THE FUTURE MAY BE A LITTLE BRIGHTER, BUT NOT SOON ENOUGH. ALL CCHS SPORTS ARE SLIPPING OFF THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HILL AND GAINING SPEED.
