  1. Coach called the pass play not the players. I've been in his situation before. Also so do those players who work all week and never get in close games should also be rewarded by your own arguement. They will get to play less than the starters most of the year and they too need experience.

  2. Then work on your passing game earlier. I've coached. There is a time and place for everything. If you start passing with a 35 point lead you are trying to run up the score. That is the way it is. After the second touchdown if you need to work on your passing game that is the time. Throwing a pass into the endzone is not working on your passing game. Your are trying to add another touchdown. And before you say they have been too close on earlier drives to pass they were in the red zone already when they threw that pass.

  3. Guys, I think the world of Charlie, he has been applying for jobs for the last two years, he is moving on, ND moving on. That's it in a nut shell. Lets move on! Good luck to both Coaches. Charlie will land solid on his feet I promise you.

He has not been applying for jobs the last two years. However if someone wanted to talk to him he would not ignore them. Know that for a fact in one case in particular.

  4. I know a lot of this discussion has been about Central partly because a lot of people thought the team this year had the players to win some in the playoffs, but keep in mind Region 3 has had only 1 win in 4 years against Region 4!! That folks is a 1 -15 record and Central has only had 2 of those losses. Yes, I have agreed that discipline has to improve at Central but the other 13 losses were by teams that have been the pinnacle of disciplined teams! 4 losses by Polk, 3 by Meigs, 2 by Notre Dame, etc. Seems that tallent, (very few players playing at the d-1 level) and schedule strength, along with a mental block about beating Reg. 4, to me are the main reasons for not advancing in the playoffs right now.

Which two losses for ND? 2005 lost to region 2 Livingston and defeated 3 region 4 teams (macon, Pearl Cohn and White House). 2006 lost to White House. 2007 and 08 did not go to playoffs.

  5. I have been to several football games this year, some have signs with a dollar amount on them, and then write in small words "donation"....I went to one game, and they said I HAD to pay to park....Doesnt the TSSAA have a rule against this?

East Ridge has been charging for years as has McMinn County and Soddy Daisy and a few other public schools I have been to. It is usually the band or ROTC or some other organization on campus and, just like car washes, it has to be a "donation" because they cannot "require" a set amount. Get off the private bashing and get over it.

  6. OK Central fans, not to bring up the past but I was told of a third person who walked off with Jackson and Simpson during that ordeal but this kid was not punished, just curious if anyone can confirm that there were 3 kids instead of 2. Good Luck in the playoffs, GO CHIEFS!!!

I was at the game and only saw the two leave. Time to let it go.

  7. I liked Meigs in this one until Shoot got tossed at Central. He is a vital part of this team and will be sorely missed. Notre Dame has a couple with some speed and that may be the difference. Irish in a close one.

I heard a rumor that I hope is not true. That the officials were not going to report the ejection and so leave him eligible to play this week. I saw the hit and there is no way he should be eligible to play.

  8. Everyone recuits. I was told of a conversation with a coach in a public school watching another public school playing a basketball game and noting that three starters on the other team, his big rival, lived in his zone. Another coach told about a public school in Memphis that won a state championship two years in a row and four of the starters on the team the second year attended other Memphis high schools the previous year. The best recruiting private schools in Chattanooga are McCallie and Baylor and their big advantage is that they can offer schlorships. I teach in a public high school and many years ago a coach asked if I would mind giving three boys transportation to my school if he could get them to transfer to our public school.

The big recruiting tool in Chattanooga are the politians because they are so busy running down the public school system that parents are jumping at sending their kids to private schools. So there has been an increase in the opening of private schools. Also remember that a kid going to a private school that plays in the public sector cannot play if he is on any kind of financial aid. So you have to pay to play for a private school in the public sector. This means eithr the family can afford it or they will be making a sacrifice to send their chid to a private.

Most private schools in the Chattanooga area that play in the public arena are church schools, very small, and have very tight budgets. And, if the truth be known, these schools main selling point is not contacts for a better future but a good Christian based education. Those private schools that have social contacts, at least in the Chattanooga area, play in DII.

  9. Uh, oh....didn't you read our sign out front? We are GreenbriER High, not to be confused with Greenbriar cause we don't like them. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Sorry but I couldn't resist. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

    Thanks Bisonmom. Last year I was sitting with ya'll on Week 1. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Well if your going to worry about spelling because its a different school then I need to remind a previous writer, dandy82, that you are playing McMinn Central not McMinn County for the same reason as you stated above.

  10. As far as the Loudon game goes he only touched the ball twice the entire game so its kinda hard to have good numbers with only two touches. That game was a debacle from the word go but in the long run I think it helped Central because all they heard all summer long was how good they were. Now to t-mac. The

Notre Dame defense probally saw the Sequoyah film and was keying on him. Im not saying he is hands down the best but he deserves to be mentioned with anybody. I will say though he may be the most versatile player in the region. He plays fullback, tailback, wingback, and the slot reciever position. Anyway, all the players mentioned in this post are outstanding players and deserve the recognition they are getting. With that being said, I look forward to seeing Hudson play at the end of the year and wish all the teams the best of luck.

I can assure you that Notre Dame's defense did not key on Slack. They were just effective in stopping the plays he ran that night.

  11. Notre Dame has won 2, against Hixson and Sequoyah, who have a combined record OF.......................0-10.

i'm sorry. Since you were making historical references I assumed you were talking obout history since the 07 playoffs have not happened yet and therefore it would be impossible to have beaten a Region 4 team in the playoffs since they have not happened yet..

  12. The bottom line is that nobody in this region is as good as they think they are. Meigs is getting better offensively each week and their defense is much better after switching to a more attacking style after the Central game. Central has good athletes but need to quit talking about how good they are and just play. Polk is not as talented as they have been but you can never question how hard they play. They are the only team in this region who plays hard every play from beginning to end. I would think Howard has the most talent, but fundamentals will catch up with them before its over. They are eventually going to play a team that won't kick to their returners, probably this week. East Ridge probably has as much talent as the rest, but for some reason can't put it together. Grundy seems to be much improved but that still don't mean they are a playoff threat. Notre Dame needs to learn how to take a snap from under center and run a regular high school offense. Wait till next year, AGAIN, for Sequoyah and Tellico.

Win a playoff game against Region 4 and THEN you can open your mouth.

Notre Dame won three and without taking a snap from under center.

  13. QUOTE(Indian @ May 27 2007 - 12:18 PM) 826468027[/snapback]You need to at least attempt to explain yourself when you throw out something like that, instead of just throwing out vague accusations. By the way, the Soddy pitcher is listed on the Southern Illnois website as being from Hixson. Does that mean she crossed a zone, not necessarily, it's just something I read.

Let's kill this rumor now. School zones are not set by community. Many students who are zoned for Soddy Daisy High School live in the Hixson community. Leave Soddy Daisy out of your squabble.

  14. Can't speak for other schools but my school JUST has two runnerup finishes. Bottom line is this: Region 3 and Region 4 are very similar. In my opinion, all 4 playoff games should be competitive. The bad news is that whoever comes out of these regions will have to square off with the survivor from Region 2 and their season will come to an end right there. If Station Camps 9-1 recored speaks for itself then how come Meigs' record has to have you speak for it ?

Surely that is a misprint Charlie. No way ND could beat PC 31-7. I have read on here that they have athletes like nobody else.

See TSSAA 2005 playoff records. Final ND 31 PC 7
