  1. An I reckon I like fraanch friied putaters purty good...mmmhh hhhhmmmm.

Well, I reckon what you want to know is what I’m a doin in here. I reckon the reason I’m in here is cause I like Football. Hu-hum. But I reckon what you was a wannta to know is how come me was to like Football. So I reckon I’ll start at the front and tell ya. Hu-hum.

I lived out in back of my mudder and fadder’s place most of my life in a little ole shed that my daddy’d built fur me. Hu-humm. They didn’t too much want me up thar in the house with the rest of em. Hu-hum. So mostly I just sat around out thar in the shed looking at the ground. Hum. I didn’t have no floor out dar, but I had me a hole dug out to lay down in and a quilt or two to put down there. Hum. My fadder was a hardworking man most of his life not that I can say the same fur myself. I mostly just sat around out dar in the shed and tinkered around with a lawn mower or two, went to school off and on from time to time. But the children out there, they were very cruel to me, made quite a bit of sport of me, made fun of me quite a bit. So mostly I just sat around out there in the shed. Hum.

I wanted to play football but they wouldn't let me. I really liked football then and I still really like football. I like to watch it while I eat mustard biscuits. Never did get to play it. I only got to watch it from time to time. I always rooted far the best team. That's all I can do now, All I can do is root far the best team. Tonight. Well. Tonight, I'm root'n for the best team too and its ....... hmmum. Well I guess I'll jest have to tell you tomorra.

  2. After some meetings on Sunday Stubbs has moved a couple of back up d D ends to the D gaurd positions to add some depth and hopefully get some more interior pressure, look for that on friday night he ll probably be looking to get them some play n time to get them ready for the HILL.

Just curious. Is "D gaurd" anything like "look Boss, it's D plane, D plane."

  3. Winchell is a Division I quality player. He has nothing to support him. No one to throw to and no one to defend him. If he gets a pass off against DB pay close attention to his method. It will be spot on target at high velocity but uncatchable by his recievers. I would like to know from anyone if he has generated any attention yet?

No. Schools don't want to recruit from a 2-38 team (over 4 years). Cause if the coach picks a bad athlete then they are ridiculed and held responsible for picking the athlete from the 2-38 team. If you pick a bad athlete from a 38-2 team then you are not ridiculed and you may still keep your college coaching job.

  4. All I saw Centrals QB do at North was run for his life X that times 10 and that's what he'll see Friday night. He did well Friday when he had just a little time.Central has no business being in the big 8. It makes loosers out of some very good players. They would be a good solid team in a few years playing down in 3A or 4A. The TSSAA needs to open their eyes and not blindly go by student #s. Good Luck to BOTH teams and play safe.

Central's QB is the best QB in the state of Tennessee period! You saw the Jamboree didn't you? If he has time to throw against DB he will beat DB! He has the receivers too!

  5. Big wins for D-B and Crockett to get the year off to a strong start for the Big 8. Boone and Science Hill should follow suit with South a toss-up and Volunteer a decided underdog. Central put up a good effort against North but had to be disappointed in their passing attack. 2-12 for 13 yds. is pretty weak for arguably the best skill-set QB. I know the field was wet,but little to no rain during the game should not have been a factor. Either Cougar O-line or WR corps needs to step up. Maybe the schemes are weak as well, but it will be another long year for the boys from Blountville without a passing attack.

Why did Winchell do so poorly? Were you at this game? I expected him to do better.

  6. There is no question Daniel Boone will be hard to beat. This should be their best team ever. Are you looking forward to any south games this year?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ruffle some of the preseason Boone predictions on here by stating ->>> There is no way that Boone will be as good as last year. Most don't realize how much was lost on Boone's Defense when the Boone Middle Linebacker graduated along with his Defensive End and Running Back/Outside Linebacker teammates. NO player on their team will fill their shoes, period. Boone will be 6-4 at best this year. I will revisit this post for all to see at season end especially if they hit 5-5.

  7. Big congrats to the kids who are getting good looks at from DB and TN High. Makes the area look great when we have kids around here getting signed to big schools!

Ditto. Congratulations to Chris Sensabaugh at DB and at Tennessee High congrats to Brendon Downs and Mack Crowder. Big time offers.

Chris Sensabaugh being looked at by Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Tennessee

Brendon Downs has full scholarship offers to 6 D-1 schools: Tennessee, Duke, Maryland, Miss State, Memphis, and Baylor.

Mack Crowder has full scholarship offers to 14 D-1 schools: Tennessee, South Carolina, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Marshall, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Central Florida, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, NC State, Middle Tennessee

  8. WELL.......He just got off the phone. Carter told our friend before Christmas that he was taking the SHHS job. Reasons were several, one of which is supposedly the inability to beat DB, and another the forecasted downsizing of South due to local urban growth plans, the latter being the primary reason. He is apparently planning to take the two Nelsons, from East and Central, as assistants. Our friend did not think any official announcement would be made before the banquet, but with all the rumors flying around, it may be sooner. All I know is what we were told, but the source is close to the situation, and has no reason to misrepresent anything.

Again, this is why this sounds like garbage. Why would Ralph Nelson ever want to play second fiddle to Carter at a job where he would be taking a pay cut? This is this most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Ralph does NOT like Carter since Carter ran up the score on him the past few years, and anyone who watched the exchange they had after the East South game will testify to that. There is NO WAY he would leave his family and tenure at East to go be Carter's little errand boy.

It's probably time for the Nelsons to move on. They simply do not get the respect they deserve from their communities. Too many people are focused on the wins/losses instead of the things that really matter. Besides when the Nelsons have done their best is when they have been teamed up with Carter. It was when Carter was OC at East when Nelsons had their best showings.

  9. There has been wonderful talent at Central for years. Just look at how the two middle schools perform. Both schools have had winning teams for years. Many of the last few years they have been undefeated. It's shameful that so much talent has gone to waste or dropped by the wayside. What happens to all these great players? Do they somehow turn into terrible players? Or, are the coaches terrible? I dunno. Can someone clear this up?

  10. I tell you what I am really dissappointed that Central played the way they did by all the cheap shots as well as the referees not calling them. They took out cookie and should have been penalized and werent, they were punching Actons knees with their fists when they had him down, stomped on hands, punched Summey in his knees at end of game, just total cheap shots, I know football is rough but allowing those kids to cheap shot people in order to take them out of the game is bullcrap, No wonder. But thats all I am gonna say. You do need coaches over there. Teach some discipline. :(

Well take away the clock problem and the touchdown right after and then you have a very close game. Cheap Shots? I think there were some on both sides of the ball. When Cookie went down I think the cheap shots started but Cookie didn't go down from a cheap shot. He just ran into a Div I recruit and that was Michael Crowder. Cookie is tough and should go to college but he's going to have to get use to that kind of play. I know Crowder. He is much of a player he is like a bull and when he locked on and was driving Cookie downfield, Cookie tried to plant his back foot and that's what caused the injury. But here is the truth. Sure Crowder intended to dominate Cookie. But, after the game Crowder was more concerned about Cookie than anything else. He was worried that he might have hurt his college prospect potential and felt very bad about that because he made that comment to several people in a sincere way. Crowder even sent the Central's trainer over to check on Cookie and tried to get info on him. Word is on the street that Princeton is recruiting Crowder and Cookie so you never know they might end up being room mates. CONGRATS NORTH! Prayers out to Cook.

  11. I don't think it's the coaches. They are pretty good guys. And they're not the ones out on the field dropping passes, fumbling the ball, missing blocks, and causing all the penalties. The coaches have a lot of years experience and I've seen the way they cut up. They really know how to have fun! It's refreshing to see that with all the uptight spectators today. It's probably the players. I've heard they like to party alot at Central. Maybe they're partying too much before the games.

  12. The truth is with 20+ seniors and mostly all returning starters (some 3 year starters) Sullivan Central will be the PowerHouse from the Athlete Perspective. However, teams aren't just made of athletes. There is also the coaching factor. So..... even though Sullivan Central will have the most loaded deck of all the high schools east of Knoxville we'll have to see what happens. Even though Sullivan Central is loaded, I'm still wondering if TN High or Sullivan South will take the cake.

  13. Sullivan Central has 4 Linemen who are 3 year starters and RT-Lovelace 6'2" 270 can definitely play college ball as can RG-Bowman. And I've heard that C-Crowder 6'2" 275 is being recruited by 10 different Div I colleges.
