Is everybody in Whitwell asleep? I'm curious about this new coach at Soddy Daisy. I believe his name is Chandra??? or something close to that. How did he do while at Whitwell?

I would say you could flip a coin between marion and south pitt for #1 and #2............sequatchie could very well be in that mix too they probably have one of the top 3 or 4 coaches in the chattanooga area in coach smith..........the south pitt marion games should be some really good basketball as well as the marion sequatchie games......those three are probably head and shoulders above the rest of the valley

Tim is a heck-of-a good guy and will be a good coach for Whitwell... but those fans have to give him time to get something going. Like was posted earlier, he didn't inherit much of a program... sorry Possum, no ill-will intended..... Last years graduating class was arguably the most athletic in Whitwell's recent history (football, basketball, baseball and even the girl's side of things). It will take time for ALL of the sports to get built back up and with a small student body, that kind of drop will be detrimental to any program...... The good people of Whitwell must understand it will take time and they must support all of the coaches and programs......

i would agree that last years class was one of the most athletic in recent years in all sports.....hard to replace a leader like we had at QB last year.....that being said tim will get things going again it will take some time.....purplerad...possum..bill49...you guys that have coached in this rivalry im sure would all agree that its good for the kids,communities, and THE GATE......but other than bragging rights and pride i dont think either schools coaches hangs their hat on this game......fans probably dont understand that coaches on both sides enjoy the win but are focused on region opponents(ie Tyner.....congrats)

Wls, you're rite 75% of WHS coaching staff is from MCHS, but they are going to get embarrassed too.... Taylor, Barton,and Thacker defiently are not a good fit at Whitwell High.... The administration needs to rethink things up there.......... Not that they are bad coaches, they just don't fit in that situation.... Maybe The peeps up there in Whitwell will realize this.... some of the alumni are already talking.............

Tim taylor is a good coach and a good man.......i have full confidence in him to get things turned in the right direction...may not happen as soon as some may want but he didnt exactly inherit a team built to win immediately....he has two assitants who have never coached football before so its gonna take time....im sure the administration understands that...as for the alumni talking thats gonna happen no matter what...they need to be talking about what they can do to help and thats it.......good luck this week and the rest of the year to both teams......hang in there guys /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Ahhh mchs51.....it happens. Cosmos doesn't have his story quite straight but wheeling and dealing in film is part of the game. Believe it or not several Region 3 teams including Jasper and Whitwell gave film to TC and FC. By this week I'm sure G'ville has all of our games.

Who did Lewis County hire as basketball coach? I know off topic but just curious? Who was interviewed?

whitwell looked really good in the first half....the potential is there to be good, i know they'll keep working hard and get the win against whats left of temple

Whitwell High School has an assistant boys basketball position open for the 2007-2008 school year. All applicants must be highly qualified in English. im not sure about what kind of record that is or if it is one.....but i would bet ezell harding might have a better record than that in the state tourn in the mid 90's just a guess

Coach Ashford is a class act.....we were able to go to camp with them this usmmer...he is a very soild coach and had his team play hard and act with class...best of luck to him in the future

i thought boyd won it 95-96 season with bopper coppinger chris talley and chris jones.......any boyd buch fans clear it up? That was a great team!

Boyd won the state in 1996 I believe....but never the less the region has been very impressive
