  1. If the girls down there thought Childress was too hard on them, Donaldson would take it to another dimension. Think Mrs. Wild times x 3. Never happen.

None of these girls played for Coach Childress and they don't have a problem with a hard coach. The girls who played for the Wild's also liked Gail and always worked hard for her too. They are a great bunch of young ladies and will work hard and give 100% for whoever is in that position.

  2. I have never been critical of our girls and never would be. Unlike some, I have always supported the program regardless of who the coach was.

The last thing we need here is more parental involvement. Whoever we are lucky enough to hire, the best thing we can all do is to keep our mouths shut and let the girls play ball and let the coach, coach!

I am able to support the girls whether or not I can support the coach. They are a great bunch of young ladies and they will continue to do great things in the years to come. LCHS has and will continue to have talented players. Anyone who belittles or maligns a child needs to step back and take a look at themselves.

I agree that more parental involvement is not needed in coaching. However, to say that we should all sit back and turn blind eyes and deaf ears to a situation, if needed, is wrong. We are suppose to be the children's protectors. Too often, we sit back and let someone bully or abuse because we don't want to be involved or stir up trouble and I for one can't do that. Let the coach, coach but let him/her be held to the same standards as you and me.

  3. I would agree with that, but what I'm saying is the parents and the administrators have to let the coach; coach. So what if he/she gets mad at the girls and makes them run extra laps leave the coaching to the coach. I think that with the reputation the school has for running coaches off it will be hard to get a guality coach. I hope I'm wrong because there are a bunch of good girls on this team that deserve the opportunity to play the game and not worry about all the negatives.

10 girls have not left this team in the last couple of seasons due to the fact they had to run extra laps. They all came up through the system with tough middle school and AAU coaches. I agree that Coach Childress wasn't done right by the administration. There's not one player or parent left who played for her or had a part in what happened. Even though Coach Wild had problems with one parent, he was rehired and given tenure by the Lawrence County school board. The majority of the girls who played for him, including mine, thought the world of him and would do anything for him, even today.

I also agree that coaches should be able to coach but they should also be held to the same moral and humanitarian standards as anyone else.

  4. Cogratulations to the Lawrence County girls and Coach Muckle!

All that bunch from Lawrence County has try to do is run him out of town ever since he arrived and all he does is keep winning. Last year he had a lot of parents poisoning their kids and they quit playing for him.

They all got mad and took their ball and went home. Now coach Muckle has got kids that are buying in to his system and they are winning against teams that no one gives them a chance against.

What a great story some one from the paper over there should do a story about that! But I doubt you will ever see that.

Great job girls! Great job Coach Muckle! You get my coach of the year vote!

    Lynchmob

Thanks Lynchmob, I like a good laugh! A winning season does not make anyone a good person. Ten state championships wouldn't change my mind about him. My name is Susan Ashworth and I'm one of those parents you're accusing of "poisoning" my child against him. You don't know me or my child so don't assume to know our situation.

LCHS has a great bunch of talented and sweet young ladies and they have earned their respect. I have and will continue to wish them all the best.

  5. Congrats to the Lady Mustangs on a big win. It looks like Nikki Reed had a good night! She's always been a hustler and it's good to see her name with all those points. It sounds like everyone stepped up and did an excellent job in this game.

Our prayers are with Jana for a speedy recovery. She's a fighter and I'm sure she won't be down long.

  6. The Lady Cats played a great game. Moore, Jones, Spann and Bennett came out and played ball from the first whistle. Spann did an excellent job on defense covering Ross. Bennett played one heck of a game. I've not watched her in a game yet when you don't hear someone in the crowd say, "How'd she do that?" Good game ladies.

  7. Again, I support and love them all but my team is L.C.H.S.

    HOOPS TO YA!!!!!!!

    Hey Keith,

Now don't throw popcorn at me from across the gym but I do plan on sitting with the Lampley's. I'm going to go out for a good meal, come watch a good game, maybe eat some popcorn, and enjoy the company of some good friends. Just because I'm on the opposite side of the gym doesn't mean I'm for or against anyone. See ya at the game.

    Susan

  8. While some of the 'impact' players did, in fact, leave Lawrence County to play for various different schools, several 'impact' players made the decision to remain through the adversity and continue to represent their hometown school. Yet, the girls that have remained loyal to Lawrence County continue to get less respect and support than those girls that made life decisions to continue their basketball careers elsewhere or to end their basketball careers completely. Also, knowing Jana since she was 9 years old, it has never been a question where she would play when she began her high school career; everyone knew she would be a Lady Mustang. She has always attended schools in her own hometown and represented them well.

Good luck to the Lady Cats tonight! :thumb: Go get 'em!

No one is disrespecting the players who remained. They're a great group and I wish them all the best life and basketball has to offer. Leaving or staying doesn't make any individual loyal or disloyal. Everyone had to make the best decision as to what was right for themselves. It was difficult for everyone.

You're right Jana always was and is a Lady Mustang! As far as I know she never contemplated LCHS.

  9. It's great to hear the good news about Carol. I'd like to see her in the game tonight but I'd much rather her be healthy for the last half of the season. I haven't seen either team play this year and look forward to a good game.

Pageman is correct that Brittany decided not to play her Senior year. Brittany, along with the other girls who decided not to play are all doing well and are happy with their decisions. Life may not always be fair and the good guys may not always win the fight but as long as you do what you know is right then you come out of a bad situation a better and stronger person.
