  1. I was there also. I've been there for 20 yrs. and this is the last one for me. The middle blocker from East Ridge was Takiesha Parham. She can explode off the floor. She once blocked a shot in basketball in Middle School, went up and caught the ball!!!!was upset, thought she had done something illegal so she dropped it like a hot potato. I think she will be a tremendous OH in college. She did look like the most impressive player there including GPS. Nobody looked very good but it is preseason. I know every one will get better. As far as AA somebody has got to win state and this group of teams looked weak. ER #1 setter did not play in the afternoon games so that ofsets kc's setter not playing.

What concerned me was the serving. It was bad. It seams to me with the lack of size in AA among the contenders then serving and defence become very important. I saw several streaks of 4,5,6 consecutive serves going into the nets.

Sale Creek should be tough in A. They are playing well. I think they beat GPS one game.

Watching from a cross the gym(sweating from the heat of the Fro) GPS look only fair, but a parent told me 3 of their starters were out of town still. I didn't get to see that Teter girl, but everyone looked rough.LOL

  2. The TSSAA posted team records at the state by team, plus looking at some old programs I had filled out. These teams had the highest winning percent against the states best. I could find Briarcrest records or East Ridge. I'm sure I'm leave someone out.

  3. Who is the top team in Tennessee now that we have seen the State? Brentwood, GPS, Greenbrier, Hardening

Just watched all these teams: With 18 years of watching my kids in club, HS, and College I'm only stating my guesses with some history of knowledge. However bad or good it is.

#1 is GPS five solid Hitters, Fast, good Def, tough servers, good passers.

#2 is Brentwood Good size, nice ball control, very seasoned.

#3 is Father Ryan good chemistry with highly seasoned team.

#4 is Greenbrier big size, good setter nice chemistry.

#5 is Ooltewah strong middles, good setter, nice Libero.

#6 is Centennial Good outside hitters, good middles.

  4. Ooltewah and Brentwood played a great match. Congratulations to both teams and both sets of my fellow seniors for an outstanding display of heart in the final game of our high school careers. Underclassmen, I applaud your maturity and impressive play at such a high-pressure level. We, ALL of the athletes, played our hardest and unfortunately a pivotal rally was ended in an interesting officiating decision. When there are three line judges against one, should the up ref go with that one? I think not, no matter what the score, who is playing, and which side the call is for. It should have been a replay.

For all of you Brentwood girls reading, there was a lot of animosity between you guys and Ooltewah in past years. Thank you for having positive attitudes towards my team off of the court. I hope that one day the rivalry between Brentwood and Ooltewah will be a friendly one. Thank you for contributing to that in pre-game warm up. Next year, let's (let us BOTH) have more sportsmanship, please /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .

To my Ooltewah girls, thank you so very much for the best season I could ever ask for. Thank you for your hard work and dedication during pre-season. It obviously paid off. Thank you for the smiles, the tears, and the laughter that you all brought me. To Nikki Brooks #3, you played a PERFECT match. You played the best volleyball that I have ever seen out of you. You played your heart out. You are a champion.

Taylor Gatewood #12- Congratulations on finishing up your senior season with a bang. Girl, you can really play some ball.

Courtney Cotter #5- You deserve every bit of that all tournament award. You played your hardest, thank you for that.

Gretchen Higdon #22- Thank you for flawless leadership and decisions this year as our fearless setter. You made all of this possible.

Amanda Kelley #15/7- Your solid serving pulled us through some tough situations this year, keep swinging.

Nikki Brook s#3- Thank you for you determination to be a better volleyball player, for your hard work. You are going places, BIG places.

Bri Shoemake #45- You were called upon to play in a high-pressure situation. Thank you for your calm confidence behind the end line.

Libby Peigen#4- Keep swinging like you?re 6?1. Don?t let anyone look down upon you. You play huge volleyball.

You are all champions in my book. Thank you for a great senior year.

    -Sarah

    Dear Floor Burn,

I know you get your name for the GOD given talent that will take you to the next level. I have only seen Class from you, team mates and other coaches that I know from Chatt-Town. I love the smile you have when you are playing. I know you hold your head high but not as high as the man taking pictures that I talked with. He is a proud papa of you. Just know Zero is my hero, good luck with Club and at Lee they are getting one of the best. Chattanooga did really well with 2 teams in the State Finals.

  5. m8kesmecr8zy is absolutely right, AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!!! Coach I was able to speak with you briefly before the game with our team (Hutchison). I would like to say that YOU and after seeing YOUR TEAM PLAY, that you all are truely FIRST CLASS!!!!! Hope to see you during CLUB BALL!!!!!!!

Big Daddy, and DP all you have great teams. It seemed that GPS had a lot of answers for some skilled young ladies. I don't know how these coaches get these kids ready with the kind of refing that they face. The TSSAA attempt at playing all the big dances at the same time was almost disrespectful to the young ladies that should have had their name announced before the Championship game and the other 8 teams that didn’t make it from the stay home state game.

AC and GB had to wait 40 minutes to celebrate. The quality of play was very high, and fan’s were great. I loved the adjustments that the coaches made to their team from pool play to Championship. GPS coach made one of the best with GB do a good job as well.

Congrad’s to GB, Bwood, GPS, and Harding for winning the top wood. Ooltewah, AC, St George, and Father Ryan who all had a great run.

New Thread: What was the best match of the Tournament: Either FR vs. GPS Friday 12 or State Championship Match Bwood vs. Ooltewah is my choice.

  6. dude....put on your jerry springer and hit wal mart asap so that you can finally find PEACE. I do not doubt FRHS may have been the benefators of a call or "3"....but have you even thought about the fact that this same Lady Irish team has won on the road in CHATTA (in a great tourney)....or all of the other great wins (I personally think that FRHS winning at Harpeth Hall holds more credibility than beating ECS or Hutch at state)....back to YOUR homework (unless your tooooo busy watching Jerry...let's call them Memphis girl's....fight over some drug head who's cheated on both of them)...r u havin fun?...Hey, sounds like your a proud parent...but please do your homework...FRHS has played probably one of the toughest schedules in not only D2, but the entire state....and WE WIN...without that ref that chaffed you so antagonizingly....P.S., I like Wal Mart O.K. (at times...about once a month...and I AM VERY PROUD to admit that I have never made it thru an entire J spring ep....can someone give me a good novel or something...what TRASH...C-YA

    DP,

I think maybe you could be a good replacement for Jerry. DP, DP, DP- If you look all the top programs THEY ALL play hard schedules. Jinx is a class act, never ? that. I know you are a proud parent of FR, I don't have a daughter playing so I can take a back seat and look at games from both sides. Again this is my view either from Jerry's side or Dr. Phil. Win or lose you will be proud later on today and tomorrow. Championship game should be a thriller.

Impact vs ChooChoo. 2 strong Club teams

  7. actually it was upnorth that said that, not you... good luck this afternoon.

It was me that said it. I didn't mean to take anything way from the young ladies of FR. Their game speaks for them. However it will be a lot harder for anybody to beat a team of their skill when it SEEMS that they are getting more calls. It happen in other games as well. This isn't FR that is behind this, but getting the beneifit from it. I think the GPS coach is going to have heart Attack with his evil looks. Hope they find good ref's for tomorrow games. May the Best win and nothing else.

  8. At least we learned today that no matter how much the teams from around here lift the ball, its not going to get called. Keep being "that guy" and beat on the seats a little harder next time.

It seems that we have to wait a couple more days before things are settled. It seems that the West was won today, but could live another game or 2. However the Smith Girl from Hutchison can go. I don't think the schooled girls ever really stopped her. I also didn't get the # of the ref in the father ryan uniform. He sure seemed to be inflated with allowing some of the locals play careless with the ball. Not your fault just luck of the Irish. Bad Local Refing not an excuss unless you lose. Hope the refs call both sides the same and all the girls bring their game. Big Daddy sure can yell loud, and he sure talks proud and heartful of his little girl and all the rest. It was nice to see him today. It seemed that they were out of Moon Pie's, I gave a side of Rain. Good luck to all. My daughter wants to hit like Hut #2, Set like FR #20 and jump like GPS #5. I do as well. Remember young ladies are watching your daughters.

See you at Meet and Greet.

  9. Wow, the stir that can happen over words. DII which produces strong teams, but have few to fight to get to the big dance. It sure would be nice to crown 1 winner for all divisions to settle this all. One Team wins the State championship. Others would be runner-up wait until next year teams. DII with it's final 4 should all be proud and hope the players live in the moment of these coming days. well over 250 teams sitting at home wishing they could be at this dance playing. Don't like TSSAA, but I like that they have a State Championship.

My Pick is Father Ryan, Hutchison, GPS or ECS will be a proud Champion

ECS and GPS seem to be very quiet. While well you know. Who's your Daddy or your Poet????

    GOOD Luck To all

  10. We expect our match with Ensworth to be a hard fought one like you suggest. You say that you have seen both team. When were you able to catch Hutchison this year?

I watch them play Briarcrest in early Sept. They won pretty easy. The setter had some good game Carolina I think?

Pretty good team, Watch out Ensworth will be super scrappy. Maybe pageman will give you a moon pie if you come to the Boro.

  11. Chattanoogan.com owner John Wilson daughter played VB in Chattanooga. She went to school with my daughter a few years back. They continue to do a great job. I wished these papers would cut loose a reporter or 2 from Football and give Soccer, Cross Country or heaven forbid Volleyball a couple more inches beside UT football. If they just would take out what could happen to UT or what Phil was feeling like. This could get 4 or 5 more teams some coverage. I'm waiting for Nashville to step-up to the plate with better coverage. Sorry, just want to hear more VB stuff.

  12. Does it matter? The kid is going to play at a D1 School. She is dangerous if they can get the ball up for her.

Hutchison vs. Ensworth has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday!

Have seen both you will have a great player with support from Hutchison and never die scrappy play from Ensworth.

Should be a great match that the winner can be proud of. Harpeth Hall will need to play well against a ECS to make it to the big Dance. I think that St Ben beat GPS earlier in the year. You normally can't leave Baylor out, but watching them at FR last week. The party will be over. Good luck to all.

  13. caught some of the games today. Father Ryan look strong, GPS held off Ensworth, HH seemed improved. It looks like no one will stop the Purple Wave this year in DII.

    1. Father Ryan - Smooth and Smart

    2. GPS - Strong and Fast

    3. Hutchison - ??

    4. HH - scrappy - GOOD Middle (big L)

  14. My nephew from Cleveland said that someone from another VB school got mad because they beat them in District and call TSSAA on them for having some coaches or players at practice. TSSAA called the school and he hasn't heard what the outcome is. Don't know much, but it seems like some whining from parents because they got beat. I don't know all the facts wonder if anyone does. I can't see how this is violating the hand control of the TSSAA.

  15. I finally got out to see some of the girls at BGA play. I think they are really improving. Don't know a lot of names but #1 can go. I also think that they hosted every DII team in Tennessee this weekend. Ensworth, Harpeth Hall, Baylor, GPS, Brentwood Acd were there. Ensworth really looked improve. Their new coach I think used to coach at Harpeth Hall. GPS look pretty good, Baylor looked like they lost a lot. The East Teams came out a head this time, and I heard that GPS beat Father Ryan. Does anyone know this and who is good in the west.

  16. Technically speaking, Father Ryan and Harpeth Hall have qualified tonight, as they are playing for 1st and 2nd and are assured a spot in the state tournament.

And yes, all action wraps up Thursday. Division I sectionals and Division II regions will be complete by tomorrow evening.

I knew I would get a great judgment call from someone like you. Thanks,

I kinda figured that it was that way, didn't know the time it would happen.

  17. SOS would be big in divisions with few teams. Because a lot of teams in big (many teams) division have to play a lot of weak teams in their division for District, where as those others can choose to play stronger or sometimes weaker teams. I know East DII team Baylor only has Webb, and GPS (still pretty strong) in their District, then they get to play the better teams around. We have 6 teams in our Division and only 2 strong teams (we are not one of them), but we still end up being 26-14. SOS, can really help your program in the long run. I talked with our coach about playing stronger teams toward the end of season. Better luck next year.

  18. how about:

    UE = unforced error

    PE = passing error

    AP = AWSOME PLAY!

    or

BHP = Bone Head Play :thumb: he, he, that would be my stat.

    or

1C to 10C = Rating of the celebration dance (aces and kills). (can be used for the pre-game chant/roll out/floor dive)

    MW - More Water

FTWB - Fill the water Bottles (This is my play)

WT- What The (this would be the Ref's this year)

  19. This sounded like it would open up some talk. I had been gone for a while outwest with an new business. I have been taking time off to watch my girls play. It seems that some teams have a great digger, but if you can find weak link you can score at will. Blocking adds to the quality of the D-Fence.

#1 Harding ACD- Great block, in right place at right time.

#2 GPS watched in Nashville, soooo fast, they don't let the white ball touch on the court. Back court seems to have many Libero's.

#3 The Wood (BW) Big Block, great diggers fast and smart.

#4 South Big Block and a nice Libero that can cover the court.

#5 Red Bank They cover the court well and have a young big block.

#6 BGA Berry D-Fence. It covers the court and changes with the way the hitters spike the ball.

#7 East Ridge The number of Digs that are reported are high for a reason.

#8 Franklin big block, with a smart back court passers.

I know I have left some teams out and I'm just reporting from the ones I have seen(85%). I will leave out some so others can fill in.
