This is a hot topic for me. I would like to change it a bit to Seniority. Can we not allow are children to wait their turn. Understand you don't always get things quickly, and you have to work hard, maybe even serve some time. This is high school, winning is always important, but a child's self esteem is more important. If they are good enough to play college ball (a small %) let them then beat out upper classman for position or leadership roles. What I mean is this. My nephew's son played football for 3 years. That means money to the program, fund raisers, and parents taking the kid to and from practice. When he got to be a junior, a freshman got his position. I am talking equal talent. What message does that send to your child about committment? Coaches need to respect their players. Do not keep allowing players to make your team each year if you don't plan on playing them. Cut them quick!. There is a small percentage of high school students who just want to be on the team and ,hang out in the dugout, including watching underclassman playing in front of them. Back to the Captain... Yes there are underclassmen that have leadership. But I guarantee there is a senior on a high school team that has some leadership. It may be a silent leader or a loud one. I agree coaches should make that decision, right or wrong. Ladies sports and their parents can be very brutal. My advice is to reward the senior with the captain position. It's only high school, and remember the coach is making all the major decisions and should be providing a majority of the positive motivation if he/she is truely a "good coach" and don't forget, and good educator. One more thing, imagine how it would feel it you worked at your job for 10 years,and new person joins the company with the same credentials. Suppose there is an new position that would be a promotion for you, and you apply for it. What if that new person, new to to company with the same credentials gets the position. How do you feel? Just like my nephew, or just like that senior was hoping to be captain.

Hendersonville was a good team. Beware of Beech. They are sneaky. Smyrna does not look forward to playing Beech. Both games were closer than the score.

Beech will be waiting.................

Enjoy the success when you can. Enjoy the Districts as long as you can. Don't plan on enjoying the state again this year. I keep saying this, without ms clark, you are still good, without Big Mc next year, you are like Beech and Hville, working hard and doing the best you can without a productive six footer.

H/WC postponed. Did MJ do their usual thing of running up the score on helpless teams or did it just happen naturally?

I think probably WC's team has matured more at this time. Hendersonville is made up of seniors. Same team as last time. WC will win if they can shoot the 3's.

MJ, Consider you are fortunate to play WC without Ms. Jenkins. Imagine your team without Big Mc or Hendersonville without Hoffretter? MJ, you will probably not beat WC again this year.

Make the WC guards beat you. Let them shoot all night. Oliver will be the difference. I don't think WC coach uses Williams like he should. Give us a 6 fter in Sumner county. We will use her. Smyna will prevail.

Mj is not in the top because they don't belong there. Take out Ms. Clark, they are good team. Take out mcfarlin, not her teeth, and they are just ok. I know you think those soph are all that, Let's see how they do without a 6footer, or will you transfer someone in or recruit from WC.

I pick Beech. If they can come within 7 of Wilson Central, they just might be pretty good. How is the big girl? Has she improved her shot since Middle School?

Jenkins was awesome. I though Beech's Coach Walker outcoached WC until the end when turnovers by Beech changed the momentum. Beech made WC try the outside shot. Do they have an outside shot or were they just cold?

Beech has about 15 good basketball players, probably no pre-season super stars. I'd say they could be a scary team to play. It will be interesting what the results will be from one of the state's veteran H.S. coaches, Dennis Walker. I believe they will drive some teams crazy.

I just heard Beech girls may be replacing White House girls, besides their scheduled game.

I agree with you. Who is take 4th place in 9aaa is the magic question. I'm thinking in no certain order, MJ,WC, Smyrna, and who....? Did Lavergne pick up some biguns?

You wilson countians don't get too excited about your teams. Remember H-ville has a couple of good ones in Cali Hof (whatever) and Webb. Beech has no stars, but a lot good talent. I'm leaning toward WC. What height. MJ will be good, but not the same level as last. Yes, one dominate player can make everyone better. Missing her will not just be an adjustment, but a hole. To say KC is a replacement is a little bit strong.
