  1. How long before you make a change?

Talent is always abundant, coaching the last 6 years is not even mediocre.

The program is in need of a coach who knows what he's doing.

  2. right is right and wrong is wrong

if you are caught cheating on a test your not given a second chance to do the right thing, because of the embarrassment you caused your self or your family.

this is different this game they play is for a priveledged few, it requires that you mantain a certian caliber of performance, people are watching, and judging you on your performance, and you will be judged on your behavior and how you act on and off the court as it should be.

this "oh its fine they are only 16" is a lot of nonsense, at 16 you should be held responsible for your own actions, and you do know the differnce.

and that any girl who worked hard and followed all the rules missed getting a award for one who had a "lapse in good judgement" is wrong.

there are no closet kids here, you broke the rules end of conversation.

Is there no honor code anymore?? if not how sad. there has to be a standard of behavior.

this is NOT the past it is THIS season as is the awards, I'm glad this subject hardly ever comes up.

No, just stating who the most impressive team is from top to bottom that I have seen. Can Richland beat them, YES. Can Richland be at less than their best and beat them, NO. Which ever team brings their A+ game would win such a match-up. Santa Fe beat them and we have beat Santa Fe twice so of course we can beat them.

Last year when we beat Collinwood in the Semis at regionals, Andrews was hurt. When she did enter the game in the first quarter, we could not stop her with the defense we were playing. She only played 4 or 5 minutes due to her injury, but was impressive during that time. This year we will simply put Glidden on her, if the matchup ever comes about. Lots of ball to be played first.

    RICHLAND RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two of the best players in the state in Glidden and Andrews, who has the strongest team to back them?? Who wants it more?? And who makes the fewest mistakes thats who wins. Maybe they will both make it out of this mini state region playoff. GO RAIDERS.

Very few coaches treat all the players the same. Our coach is good at treating the stars the same as the others. Always demanding the best from all. The coach at Richland, who I would never play for, treats players different depending on who they are, who their mama and daddy is, or who they are kin to. He will yell at one player while letting another do the same thing and nothing is said. He is really a joke of a coach. Without the 2 girls he has recruited to Richland, they would be a below average team.

Coach Hall has an amazing amount of talent on this years team, there's NO disputing that. But the team needs a leader they trust and respect, and he's the man. Your opinion means little to nothing to anyone at Richland.

Everyone of the Richland Lady Raiders have played for Richland since the 7th grade, except for Stephanie Roper.

If he's a joke of a coach with a 28-2 season record I would love to see what he could do if he was any good at it.

    Just my opinion.

I think the two best teams in the state in IA are Clarkrange and Richland. I also hope that these two teams are playing for the top spot in IA. I believe that Clarkrange will whip Richland by a few points if both teams are healthy on any given night they should play. With this said, No one can reasonally guess who will be the state champtions in 1A. Just too many good teams. Any one of these teams can whip any of the other teams on any given night. Good luck to all these excellent teams.

Your right, Richland and Clarkrange are the best 2 teams in the state.

But Richland is as good this year, and can be nothing short of great next year.

    THE RICHLAND LADY RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    and no one else.

I think the best TEAM in the state is COLLINWOOD. They have had their ups and down, just like everyone else, except an undefeated Gleason team, but pound for pound, Collinwood is the best team in the state. I see other teams that have good players, but very few go 1 to 5, plus a couple off the bench like Collinwood.

    Just my opinion.

Did Jamie move west in the middle of the night??

i dont like either team but there is no way Santa Fa stays close. Richland, or Poorland, should win by 15 plus. White is not all that and Duke is back to stop anything she could do. The guard play at Santa Fa is trouble. That is what lead to the fussing at Moore County. Moore Co. jumped in there face with the press and Santa Fi could not respond so they got mad. Until Santa Fu stops playing that senior and starts the freshman guardn there guard play will get no better.

Richland stinks but Santa Fo stinks more.

Lizzzzzy is that you???? Go back to class!!!!

  8. QUOTE(rebel100 @ Jan 14 2007 - 10:27 PM) 826332114[/snapback]

This is apparently the situation at summertown, unfortunately.

    Oh cry me a river

Summertown coach will adjust to the absense of "M" do not ever think they are done.

Forrest could never make the same ajustment if say Gaby quit, so don't get tooooo happy with your tear jerking soap opera, pointing in the stands win.

  9. Moore County defended Sante Fe very well last night and that was the difference. They never let White or #20 get going offensively. By the way 20 may be the dirtestplayer I have seen in a long time. She threw elbows, forearms, and even kicked a player last night. And refused to shake hands after the game.

name calling by M.C. why am I not surprised.

  10. District 7a has a great basketball history and have brought home many championships. However those of us in other Districts feel we have as much talent as there is in 7A. Mostly that would be in 11A and 12A, and as is pointed out to me more times than I can remember, 9A is a weaker District, but we still have a lot of talent. If you take RBS, Clarkrange and JC and compare them to Summertown, Wayne and Collinwood for instance, it really becomes a toss up on the best District......then throw Richland and Sante Fe is this Region and they are every bit as strong as the Region CRange etc. is in. We also play teams every bit as difficult not in our Districts. Just trying to command a little respect for our teams as we give to yours....I feel we have earned it :)

    From Coach T:

    #3 Santa Fe

    #4 Collinwood

    #5 Richland

    #9 Summertown

    #10 Wayne Co.

    #19 Forrest

    Ptguard12 :

    #4 Collinwood

    #6 Summertown

    #7 Richland

    #8 Wayne Co.

    #10 Santa Fe

    #13 Moore Co.

    #14 Forrest

    #16 Perry Co.

Talent wise it seems to be MORE clustered in 12A,11A, and our old friend from 11A in Forrest. Old Traditions die, and new ones begin. Happy new year to all.

  11. I had no idea that they had played over the break. I have not talked to my Moore County source and the games were not reported on here or anywhere else that I have seeen, so I knew nothing about it. Who were the two teams that they lost to and who did they beat. I may have to alter the list.

The Buckhorn win and the loss to a Huntsville team are in the Tennessean

I heard there was another loss, but can't remember the team.

  12. It is NEVER all right to degrade someone. As a parent I feel this way, but most of all I feel this way as a human being. My kids have had many coaches with many styles and the most effective were those that led by example and didn't use bullying to show their power over the players. It is possible to correct, even bring attention to mistakes or problems without degrading someone. If a coach said "You guys really stink right now", that isn't necessarily a problem. It's the tone and everyone knows the tone I'm talking about. There are a lot of coaches that rule by fear eventually there is backlash. I am sad that any of our children have had to be exposed to this. The world is a harsh place and frankly I would like the coaches and teachers to be a bright, positive part of my daughters lives. I can tell you that in the situations we have had where the coach acted unprofessionally, we toughed out the season and then went elsewhere. We spent a lot of time doing damage control as a result.

And....before you talk more about not sugar coating things let me assure you that is not what I am suggesting. It doesn't help anyone to be unrealistic. It also doesn't do anything but harm to beat down a girl's self-esteem.

In the end, this is a game we are talking about.

    Oh for crying out loud

What ever happened to tough love, if you think that the majority of coaches don't care a great deal about their players you are mistaken. So they are hard on them sooo.. what. Do you really run around all day and say " it's o.k. sweetie I'll fix it"? and to be honest these kids use more than their fair share of profanity and or harsh words against their coach, teachers, and each other.

This is a game of structure, disipline, dedication, and hard work. ( Life)

Teach them that at home and high school ball is not a cultural shock.. have you ever heard a college coach talk to their players? if this upsets them or you, good luck with the next level I'm proud mine know the difference in her coach yelling at her because he can.. than because he should. I want 100% from her, I want him to get 100% from her and if it takes him being hard on her then so be it.

I Hate it when parents say good job after a game that was bad, who's doing more harm? the coach that said that stinks or the parents that says good game when it wasn't ?

  13. The best freshman in my opinion, hands down, is Lauren Avant from Lausanne in Memphis. She was offered a scholarship and has already committed to play for Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Lady Vols (about a month ago) and was recruited by UConn, Duke and everyone else. She's the top player in the WHOLE COUNTRY in the class of 2010 and was the only 8th grader or freshman to make Street and Smith's All-American team. She's the best by a mile...

    http://www.memphisladyelite.org/

Not hating on anyone BUT Avant takes this discussion hands down.
