  1. I made a list of the major statements, etc. that Scott Chastain stated on the radio yesterday. I asked Noway to tell us which statements he was lying about. Pasture, you are now saying that he is lying. If you know what you are talking about, tell us which specific statements he lied about yesterday. If you or Noway continue to not respond, then can we assume that either you don't know what you guys are talking about or Chastain is telling the truth. Let us hear from you!

I think that Noway, Pasture and OldHops10 all share the same last name and I think that they all are very close to this whole situation.

  2. No, the 4 million stores Stump and Steven have done over the last two years on Temple athletics are because they make their money selling papers and getting people to tune in their television and radio broadcasts.

Sorry but Temple doesn't have that big of a following.

  3. Guns....you seem to want to pick a fight. You've also assumed a lot in your posts. Since you seem to have trouble understanding what I'm trying to say I'll break it down for you.

    1. I did see with my own eyes yesterday afternoon Whitwell practicing in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets. When I first saw it they looked like they were in pants as well. So when I stopped down the road I called a "longtime friend who follows sports" and asked them if they knew the date for full pads. They said that was Monday which is what I was already sure of.

    2. That friend said they were pretty sure could go in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets this week. However they did not say they looked it up in the rules.

    3. I then drove back to the school and looked from the parking lot and I saw shorts. No pants with pads, just shorts.

    4. I then left and didn't think about it again until it came up in this thread.

    5. I posted what I thought I knew about the rule in this thread and exactly what I saw. I wasn't trying to clear anyone's name. I was just trying to give the info I thought was correct. If the info I gave was wrong then I must be the first person in the history of the Internet to post something wrong. Me and the idiots that send around that "Bill Gates is giving away his money" email. Please feel free to tar and feather me.

For the record....I did not call TSSAA. My expert is someone else. They also said they weren't positive but they were pretty sure shorts and pads were ok. They are not from Whitwell or Grundy County. They probably could care less if someone is doing something bad or not. They just have a great amount of knowledge about HS sports in TN and no it's not CoachT either.

If the practice was against the rules then one of you can call it in. I've never called anything in and I'm not starting now. If they broke the rules then let the chips fall where they may. If Ronnie Carter asks me what I saw I'll tell him.

I hope that's clear Guns. Now get off my back!

    DL.

No. Not trying to pick a fight. Just don't understand why you are defending them so bad....thats all....

  4. Well I think there's some additional info concerning "pads" that need to be cleared up. I called an expert and he said as long as they were not in "full pads" they were ok.

I saw first hand SHORTS, shoulder pads and helmets yesterday.

    DL.

I know you wont name any names so tell us what the title is of this "expert". As bad as the TSSAA is at times I doubt very seriously that you could get anyone there to say something as ambiguous (sp) as that. No pads means NO PADS. Again, if they can wear shoulder pads, why do they not wear them in the 7-on-7 scrimmages? Yeah. I don't know either. I guess Whitwell is just the only ones in the state that knows and understands the rules. I would like for you to tell us what title this so-called expert holds so that it might lend a little credibility to his/her statement. Who knows, you may have just single-handedly revolutionized Tennessee High School Football. Coaches all over the state will be able to modify their off-season practices now because there is a whole lot more that you can do with shoulder pads on than you can do with just tees, shorts and helmets. I've always enjoyed reading your posts because you generally have good input, but this has got to be the biggest load of manure that I've ever read. You had to prowl through a lot of chicken houses in Grundy to come up with this crap! Whitwell was in pads a full week early. Nice attempt at defending them but it's going to take more than simple hearsay to clear their good (um, um) name.

  5. Hold up fellas. I too thought I saw Whitwell in full pads yesterday when I drove by. So first I made a call to confirm that Monday was the first full day of pads. Then, so I wouldn't stick my foot in my mouth, I drove back to the school, drove into the parking lot next to the field.....and looked again.

Those were long red shorts. There was no football pants or pads in pants on those boys.

Nobody was doing anything wrong. Shorts, shoulder pads and your trusty little hard hat are ok this week fellas.

See you all the 17th in Jasper.

    DL.

Maybe you need to make another call or ask the right questions. Practice does not begin until July 30. No pads are allowed until the first day of practice. The last time I checked, shoulder pads are in the category of "pads". Why do you think all the 7-on-7 scrimmages use only shorts, tee shirts and helmets? Wouldn't you think that if shoulder pads were acceptable every coach in the state would be using them? IF Whitwell was in shoulder pads, as you and others have said, they were most obviously doing something wrong. They were in "pads" a full week before everyone else. No matter how anyone wants to spin this, IF they had their shoulder pads on, they were breaking the rules... aka...cheating.

NOTE: Please note my use of the word "IF". I did not see them in pads and am only going by what a couple of people have posted on here.

  6. SP will always be the team to beat in the valley because the have THE BEST football program in the Sequatchie Valley. Staff, players, facilities, support personel, off season conditioning program, summer workouts and in season preparation. From top to bottom it is THE BEST!

Does that include your new $7M gym or not. Oh, wait, you don't have one do you?

Personally, I think that SC has the best football facilities in the Valley. JMO though.

  7. I think that with the tradition SP has in football it will probably be called .....um..... lets see ..... maybe .... FOOTBALL. I think that is what it will be called since they will be making another run at a State Championship.

    Blah,blah,blah... Here we go again!

  8. Hey guns, I got there early and didnt even have to pay to get in. Great seat too. Thanks for the advice.

See Cornbread....why can't you be like volsbbfan? You need to lighten up a bit. He took it for what it was....a joke. For crying out loud...get that crumb off your cornbread shoulders. B)

  9. Two questions.

    1. What happened to SP Whackballers?

    2. Where was the flamethrower?

No offense SP, but if that is all that you have got, you need to just schedule a full season of home and aways with Richard Hardy. That way you may come out winning .500, otherwise it is going to be a L O N G season. I expected to see a much closer ballgame.

  10. Yeah thats right. Stewart was crying after the basketball game like a little baby trying to push everybody off the court after SP once again beat them in basketball. To MC Dad, Did you see the play against S.P. where Jasper did not score. I know you did because everybody else did. I guess yall had all those games yall won at home because yalls referees like to cheat. Yall even tried to cheat at the basketball game but yall could cheat enough to win that game, maybe yall should have paid a little bit more money. Like I said SP Baseball is not as bad as everybody is making it out to be. We will win more games then everyone thinks & one of them could be 10 minutes up the road just like SPBaseball06 said! All I can say is that they better not look past SP, they better bring their game to the field on March 13!

Stewart crying on the court was no different than Antonio crying on the field after he got jackhammered. ;) What's that?....hearing those footsteps again? Why is it when ya'll lose it's because you get cheated but when you win it's because you're the greatest team ever? Ya'll stink and you know it. Keep talking trash about baseball and you'll find out how ugly games can get.

  11. I was reading on the internet and found these articles. Is their Head coach wanting to leave. Looks like it to me. Can someone from Jasper answer my question.

    Found these articles in Times-Journal.

Hey WLS. It looks like you jumped the gun on getting excited.

You just need to stay in Whutwill and keep your nose out of Marion County High School. :D

  12. until recent years clockkeepers were advised to sound horn for subs to enter now

they are told not to , let the official bring them in problem is most officials do not look at score table and player remains there and fans and coaches get upset.

    # 2 i do not believe coach should be able to call time out because it takes away a good defensive play and a lot of the timeouts even come after possesion has changed or noone has possession

    # 3 i would like to see the defense get the ball on all tie ups or jump balls

I agree with your first statement about the horn. The horn was implemented so that the refs wouldn't have to be concerned about subs waiting at the table and they could focus their attention on something really important, like officiating the game. Now we've taken a step back.

Although your statement in #2 about taking away a good defensive play is correct , I still think that the coach needs to have the ability to call timeout when he chooses and shouldn't have to rely on some 14 - 18 year old that is geeked up on adrenaline (1.) hearing his request for calling time out; (2.) comprehending that the coach wants a time out; and (3.) being able to clearly communicate to the official that he and his coach would like to have a time out.

    #3 is just plain stupid.

  13. As far as nice gyms go i think van buren county has a real nice gym

You've got to be kidding! Poor lighting, no player seating (sit on front row of bleachers with fans walking up and down), make-shift scorers table and very small visitor's locker room. Definitely not one of the best in the state...heck, not even one of the best in the area.

    Sorry Moose.

  14. I don't know how many people on here get a chance to see them, but Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga GA has a great student section to be such a small school.

Van buren fans are without a doubt the best cheering fans

I hope you are right, Moose. We come to town on Saturday and I love a great basketball atmosphere.

  15. Yeah, those crunked-up fans are the groovy bees knees. Don't worry junior, when you get a little older you will understand why these "old guys" think that crunk sounds stupid. Every generation has their own slang terms and each one thinks the other's sound stupid. In 15-20 years you will be driving down the road listening to Kanye on the oldies station and wondering why you used to use the word crunk when it sounds so stupid. Youth is wasted on the young.

Thank you for explaining that you know so much about me, but you really have no idea what you are talking about. Next month I will celebrate my 39th birthday and remember the good ole' days. But unlike many of my crusty old counterparts, I try to keep up with the modern vernacular so that I can communicate with the youth of today. I don't want to be the type of adult that looked at me when I was a teen and shook their head. I turned out to be a good, productive citizen of my community and believe that young people need to have their own identity. "Crunk" is no more or no less stupid than whatever the latest saying was when you were young. At the same time, just because young people today use slang that you don't understand, doesn't mean that they are going to turn out any worse or any better than you or I. I am not ashamed of the slang that we used as kids. I do not feel that it was stupid. It was how we communicated. You sound like one of those guys that grew up to be a stuffed shirt executive type that has a perceived image that you must uphold or else your other stuffed shirt executive friends and associates will think less of you. Go back to your white-collared, yuppy lifestyle and leave the fun stuff to those of us who actually enjoy being young, or in my case, young at heart.

  16. What about Coach David Phillips. He is an assistant at South Pittsburg and is just waiting in the wings to show what he can do. He has a good relationship with the girls and really knows his basketball. He does an excellent job scouting other teams and sets up an outstanding game plan. He is limited only because he is coaching at a single A school where the tallent level isn't quite as deep. :thumb:

  17. I second that 85warrior!

C'mon ReitzFan. You and 85Warrior should go start a Senior Citizen thread and post on it. "Crunk" is a slang word that is used in the place of Cranked. That's Cranked, as in, CRANKED UP, LOUD, ROWDY, EXCITED, EXCITING, EXUBERANT, Absolutely IN-YOUR-FACE for 32 Minutes, THE SIXTH MAN or any other adjective that you wish to discribe a fan base that is a difference maker.

"Crunk" can also be used to discribe an individual that is hyped, stoked, excited, focused, ready to kick your a-- and make you like it, has his/her game face on, or any such adjective or description.

Surely you should have been able to read the context clues to figure it out, but assuming that you were unable to decipher the lingo I thought this 30 something has been would clarify for you.

If you can't talk the talk, DON'T say anything at all.
