1. Meigs County High School has no seniors on the team and finished with a much improved 24-13 record this season. Most games started 5 freshmen and 3 sophomores. Will have only 2 seniors next year and 3 talented freshmen will be coming from the middle school. Much brighter future in Decatur for the next few years.

  2. QUOTE(Illest @ May 16 2007 - 10:09 PM) 826460877I don't think your going to hear to much from the Meigs fans, Marion shut em up. This just goes to show you a determined well coach team can never be overlooked. I think the young Warriors have got everyones attention now. Congrats to Coach Roberts and the Warriors.

Before you Marion folks get to bashing too hard on the Meigs folks let me just say that ALL of the folks on here who were saying Meigs was gonna beat you were from Central and Polk. Not a Meigs fan said a word. Just keep that in mind. Congrats Marion on a good win.

  3. QUOTE(6+4+3=2 @ May 11 2007 - 06:54 AM) 826457123My nephew is a great kid and in my unbiased opinion is the best infielder Polk has other than Beard at 1st. I have played and coached at the college and high school level what experience do you have?

I asked my nephew ( the new starting ss) about them and they have never seen any fielding stats. Lets check errors vs attempts! I would like to see them if you have a copy you can e-mail them to me but like OldScout said those records are not kept. I know MY nephew has never seen them in fact one week he went from 12 stolen bases to 10. The next week he stole 4 bases but when the averages and stats came out he went back up to only 12 go figure. I can give you alot more of this type B.S.! Those stats are padded period!! As for you saying something about my nephew, who is your son maybe we could check his stats (errors vs attempts) what's his name or what position does he play? I'll make it easy on you you can send his name to me in a private message so no one will see it. Come on lets hear it BADGIRL I am waiting!! /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Gotta love the comic relief. Now that Polk has been eliminated and can't bash their upcoming opponent they've decided to bash on each other. LUV IT !!!

  4. QUOTE(catsbackr @ May 10 2007 - 11:30 AM) 826456511That sounds like a comment coming from someone Hixson beat at few times this year.....

Did the coach stay around for the entire tourney this time.........

  5. QUOTE(Indian @ May 3 2007 - 11:07 AM) 826450873In some of the large districts the teams might only play once a year because of travel. That's how it is in 6AA softball actually but they can play more times if they want, they just have to determine in advance which ones count in district standings. In 5AA having a first round elimination format helps the top 4 with travel, if they finished top 4 they should be the favorites but anything can happen. I think 6AA might reshuffle again in a couple of years, I undertand Signal Mountain will be AA at least to start, Hixson could move to AAA because of redistricting and Red Bank has a chance to fall to AA if not enough are moved to replace the ones that start going to Signal Mountain.

In district 5AA's preseason meeting it was determined that the tourney would be double elim after the 8 vs 9 playin game and the entire tourney would be played at Tyner May 3-5. At the meeting last Wed. to plan out the tourney Boyd, Sweetwater, Central and Polk changed this to the higher seed will host the first round and the first round will be single elim. Meigs, Sequoyah and Tellico still wanted double elim and play the thing at Tyner as planned. Tyner and Brainerd could care less and didn't vote either way so the single elim higher seed host was adopted even though the Tyner fields are reserved. What I would like to know is why this district has a preseason meeting if what is voted in is not what is done? My guess is the teams with one pitcher only want to drag this thing out as long as possible.

  6. QUOTE(Softball Maven @ Apr 24 2007 - 08:23 AM) 826444042Boyd won the game 4-3.....home run in 7th

I believe Boyd has a game next week ( Monday or Tuesday ) with Sequoyah. If Boyd wins that I think they win the district.

Pretty sure that Boyd and McMinn Central are tied atop the 5AA standings with one district loss each. Central beat Boyd which would give the title to Central if they end up tied.

  7. QUOTE(TheOldScout @ Apr 24 2007 - 08:09 AM) 826444036Inferior talent! What Meigs teams have you been watching? Meigs has had more talent in the last 8 or 9 years than anyone around especially in baseball. I base my fact on years of baseball experience and baseball knowledge and you base yours on an English class. As for Meigs coache's, what have they done when they had very little or no talent? Nothing!! You see what kind of coach you are if you win with no talent and Baker has had plenty over the years. Winning the district outright is one thing but winning it by another team losing is another and yes everyone was saying Meigs should easily win it. As for going straight through Polk in baseball that has not been such an accomplishment until the last two years and football I don't think you want to compare records in football. Polk has beat Meigs 5 out of the last 6 years. In the playoffs Meigs has been twice 2001,2006 and lost in the 1st round both times.

I can say the district is terrible because that is a fact and if you know any baseball whatsoever you will know this is true. Polk, Meigs and Centrals record is 33-7 in the district and only two of those seven losses was to other teams in the district (Boyd, Sweetwater). The other six teams record is 18-43 in the district so you can't tell me this is a tough district if you do, I will say you need a psychiatric evaluation. As I have said earlier Central, Meigs and Polk are very evenly matched, I never said Polk was better than anyone and when I say Meigs is overrated it's based on facts and what I have seen. You act like I have said they are the worst team in the world and should not even be on the field with Central or Polk. Meigs has a good team but average when you look at the big picture or compare them to other AA baseball powerhouses and I will say the same about Polk.

Just a little correction for you so you look like you know a little about what you talk about. Meigs went to the state tourney 4 yrs ago under the direction of Coach Baker. They definately did not have the talent to go but went anyway. The football Tigers of which you speak have made the playoffs every season but 2 since 1990. They didn't always have the talent but went anyway.

  8. QUOTE(PC#1 @ Apr 23 2007 - 10:05 PM) 826443912Incorrect....If Central sweeps Polk they're are in a coin toss for 1st with Meigs...and if Polk and Central split they are in a coin toss with Polk for 2nd /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Before you head back to class a little info for you. The first tiebreaker is head to head which would leave Meigs and Central still tied. The second tie breaker is run differential head to head, which would give the title to Meigs, assuming they end up tied with Central. If they were to end up tied with Polk, the title would go to Polk for the same reasons. Since Polk apparently lost to Central, it is unlikely Meigs and Polk would end up tied. NOW......get back to class.

  9. Appears to me that this district is the most evenly matched in a long time. I think that 5 or 6 teams have a chance to finish in the top 4. Polk has a very good team and had chances to beat both Sweetwater and Boyd. Central seems to be rounding into form after struggling at the beginning and Tellico is MUCH improved and can beat anybody on a given day. Sequoyah is also a very dangerous team if you overlook them. Even Brainerd seems to be competitive this year as I noticed that Boyd just beat them by a 3-2 score. Should be a very intense and competitive district tourney.

  10. QUOTE(MalcomXL @ Mar 29 2007 - 06:34 PM) 826426047Sweetwater and Boyd!!! Whoever wins the game between these two schools will win District 5-AA. Everyone else will beat each others brains out!! They are just above and beyond the rest of the schools with good pitching and hitting! Central was suppose to be pretty good, but Sweetwater beat them 10-0 yesterday!

Central SHOULD have a good team since all of their starters returned but so far they have not looked near as focused since their coaching change.

  11. So far it looks as though this district is more evenly balanced than ever before. Boyd is not going to just run over folks this year and I would definately have Sweetwater as the favorite. Boyd beat Meigs Tuesday 3-0 and 2 of their runs were unearned. Does anyone know who won the Sweetwater-Boyd game yesterday? That game should have a major bearing on who comes out on top.

  12. QUOTE(TheOldScout @ Mar 29 2007 - 07:59 AM) 826425576First of all its SEVEN RUNS, you don't score points. We are not talking about football or basketball!!

The facts are Sweetwater had 5 errors against Meigs when they won 11-1 vs 1 each in the 1-0 game. Another fact Meigs star player's brother was the umpire behind the plate for the Polk vs Sweetwater game, is this not a conflict of interest from what I was told about this game Sweetwater's batter was standing over the plate when Polk's catcher tried to throw out a Sweetwater runner going to second and contact was made by the batter causing a bad throw. If this is the case the umpire should have called interfearance on the batter and the runner should have been called out. There's some facts for you!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Sounds like somebody needs to either take a pill or go buy themselves a box of kleenex!

  13. From a fan of a single A Public school- YES, YES, and YES

from a fan of a AA school.......NO, NO, and NO...

It does not matter the classification private should play private and public should play public. My answer is NO in all clasifications.

Yes.......private vs. private....public vs. public.........privates recruit AND give scholarships whether they admit it or not........

  14. Boyd will win 5AA hands down. They are loaded as usual. Sweetwater will probably take second. Meigs and Central will be battling for third. Boyd is probably the favorite to win the region and should have a good chance to win the State this year. Just my opinion.

I fully agree with this post but I also think that Polk will be in there fighting for third.

  15. yes, you are right about the opinion, every person is entitled to theirs. however, do you think that it will solve the problems that you have if you just harp online. what good does that do for the basketball community? how does it strengthen or help the kids? these kids get on here and read this stuff and they think that it's ok to yell or put blame on a referee because it's the norm. Again why does middle school basketball have to be negative now adays? this isn't the NBA and these kids need to learn discipline from the athletic programs and learn to become a better people. if not then why watch, play, coach, or officiate. instead of the saying "don't hate the player, hate the game" or however, that goes. thats stupid because it will only get you into trouble. because if we don't have the game then what do we have?

    gosh....you're stretching a little bit there aren't ya ?

  16. So are you Mustang Fever, or AA Rules, or both? Mustang started this thread

and your latest post says AA Rules.

I am glad you do not have to compete against her. I agree with others,

    rules should be rules.

Well....both are from my house...just didn't notice the logon.....

  17. this White Co. team has reall come together..they didn't do so hott last year but they r coming along great and really improved and really have a chance..i think they will go for 2 in a row

just hope we can make it over there tomorrow.....how good is lipscomb?

  18. We have a game @ 10:00 am, but I have a feeling that we will not get this one

in, if the predictions on the weather are close to accurate. The Bulldogs St. Joseph(boys) vs. arch-rival Holy Rosary square off tomorrow. Both teams breezed past first-round competition. Good Luck to both teams, and safe travels to all who attend the games.

Man we are 3 1/2 hours away......whats gonna happen if we can't make it ??

  19. Who in the world are we talking about? Who is the player in question? What school? Sounds like an all american is in trouble! A rule is a rule.... we all have the right to know who this is. Spill it!

The player in no way is an all american.......switched schools for the simple reason she wasn't starting at her school (which is just an average team). I understand the rules states that if the students parents don't have a bonafide change of residence then that kid has to sit out 1 yr. from date of last participation. The schools AD and Principal were made aware and pretty much just blew it off.

  20. McMinn's coach must have really had to work hard to keep this game close. Better enjoy the rest of this year and all of next year cause it ain't gonna be pretty in Athens after that. Heard McMinn won with an off balance 30 foot bank shot at the buzzer after charging and walking (neither called). Congrats on your BIG win McMinn and good luck in the tourney (apparently you are going to need it).

  21. I can't speak for everybody else that looks at these boards but speaking for myself I am about sick and tired of hearing how GREAT Central is and how GREAT Polk used to be. How bout sticking a sock in it for a while, or better yet, stick a pacifier in it (since all of you are obviously about 1 year old).
