  1. She could end up tearing the meniscus if the knee is unstable, and this could complicate her situation. Last year Taylor Hall of Mt. Juliet, did some rehab, was fitted with a brace and finished the season. She probably played at 70%, but her leaadership was vital to the team. That is a tough choice, but should be made considering advice of her doctor, but I would not risk further damage! They have to live with those knees long past basketball. Best to her.
  2. surprisingly low scoring game! Westmoreland does play good D and they got the best coach in 8A. I think G'Ville is the class of 8 this year, but are still going to have to whip friendship for it. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. I make two predictions this evening, wrong about both! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  4. friendship in probably another close one. They need to start sealing the deal in some these close ones, thats where their seniors need to take it to another level. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  5. MJ crushes Lavergne's hopes for the #2 spot! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  6. The fact that you are educating yourself tells me alot about you. I think you are going to come out of this and finish a really great High school career, best a luck to you. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  7. She got tendenitus once, but it did not last long. I think once you get rehabilitated, the confidence will come back quick, as well as your skills. They do a great job reconstructing knees, and Physical Therapist work with the doctor to do the right things, and they will guide you back to the floor. My Uncle tore his ACL in the 50's and they would give him a shot, put him in a air brace and send him back out there. He would play until the knee gave out, and the next day his knee would kill him. They kept doing it! He had surgery in the 80's and the scar was about 6 inches long. It is amazing now what they can do. The fact that my daughter had 4 knee surgeries and still has the ability to go play is amazing to me.
  8. They played hard, but giving up so many easy baskets and watching loose balls roll around irritated me. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. I think Gordensville wins this one, Westmoreland seems to have a problem scoring, Gordensville does not.
  10. Your right, wasn't much of a game, especially the second half. you were wrong about the starters though, they played well into the 4th quarter. The poor girls on the end of the bench though, did not get into the game until a minute something. That must PO some parents! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. The danger is when you start feeling better, but you sound like a real sensible young lady. my daughter is most of the time, but she got impatient. After 4 knee surgeries, she learned to listen to the doctor. She does not have any trouble with the right knee, first surgery, but the left, she has some issues, they think it may be scar tissue. They may have to go in after the season to clean it out. She is just now starting to do some things she used to do, she missed almost two years, and dealing with the mental aspect, but I see her picking up confidence each game. Most people don't have that many surgeries though, one and done, and hope that is the case with you.
  12. Resist the temptation to do any basketball too early. My daughter learned the hard way. After her first ACL reconstruction, she helped an old coach with his camp two months post surgery, messed around shooting and reinjured the knee. It takes 4 months just for the acl to heal, and a meniscus repair is very fragile for four months. The therapist will not want you to do any kind of cutting or jumping ( non-supervised) for at least 6 months. You will get time to get your shot back, be patient and listen to your doctor and therapist, they will get you to the point where you can resume your game.
  13. They will try to restore full motion asap, so it will be simple at first and they will give you work to do at home. Then the next goal will be to build the quad muscles and they will probably get a little agressive with that.
  14. Go Saints! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. If you play on a torn ACL then you risk tearing up the meniscus, and that causes a whole new set of problems. A repaired meniscus takes 4 months to heal, and you are on crutches for 4-5 weeks. The success rate drops to 80% because of blood supply or lack of. Some surgeons believe in braces and others do not. My daughter's surgeon does not reccomend it, he says there is no evidence that it prevents re-ruptures. My daughter wore a brace, it was a mental thing with her, but she tore her meniscus up, while wearing a brace, while going for a rebound. She also tore her other ACL, wearing a brace on the other knee, while making a jump stop. I would say, if your surgeon recomends wearing brace, to listen to their instruction. I hope you are progressing well. I might say, you opened a very interesting thread, a lot of good information has been posted. Keep us up to date with your progress. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. Westmoreland is well coached, I think they may be loading up again, they did lose a lot to graduation, but she will get them back up there. I've ate enough crow to know how bad it taste! At least you got back on here, I respect you for that! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  17. Oh Bud is going to have to get him some transfers, the well is going to dry up after this year. Coach Fryar will probably get the top dog role back next year. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  18. I figured it was probably a hangover after beating Westmoreland twice. I was just picking at the poster who said that Westmoreland would win by 15-20 points. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  19. Looks like Eagleville must have read this thread. I read in the paper this morning, they had a 17-1 run in the first quarter against Friendship! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. trash talk is fun, we all do it, but we all have to eat crow sometimes, happens to us all! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  21. I would say, holding Westmoreland to 32 points is pretty good defense, just an observation. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  22. I have not got a chance to see the young MJ team, but from a distance I would conclude, the pressure is on WC, they are the veteran team! Should be a good one, good luck to both teams. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  23. Your right we will see. Actually, I am neutral, I think it will be a good ball game and I plan to attend. I was going to go to the Mt. Juliet -WC matchup, but probably won't get a seat, so I think I will attend this game. I will be looking for that weakness you are talking about. good luck. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  24. They beat you at home last time! Westmoreland's got a good team, but they don't win by no 15 points. I think this game is a tossup, I think Westmoreland may get them, but 15points?no way!
