  1. Thank you. It's cool.

I know why our guy was not nominated for Player of the Year ... Our district record was 3-5 and yours was 7-1. I still can't believe we lost to C.B. Anyway, Wallace Foster is no doubt a great player. He is tearing it up in the tournament. Brooks Thedford is a solid ball player too.

I'm fine with playing two games Thursday, as long as we each win one game. Ha Ha.

Foster clearly proved why he was the two time returning MVP of district 5. Pitched outstanding on short rest and dominated the district 5 regular season co-champs(DB). Absolutely crushed the ball into deep left-center for a triple as well as 2 other extra base hits. Although there are other good players in district 5, Wallace stands head and shoulders above them all. I feel it is a travesty that he was not chosen for a 3rd year. The coaches need to look at the quality of the teams on the schedule as well as the stat lines. Defenses rob hitters more as the level of competition increases. Grace hands down played the toughest non-district schedule and their players should not be punished because of that schedule.

  2. David Brainerd won regular season title in 5A last night. Not Grace. So to everyone that was saying Grace is going to have a cake walk... not this year! I know its not tournament time so I know all teams have a chance but no one should be over looking the David Brainerd Wildcats anymore!

    P.S. Brooks Thedford= 5A MVP

Sorry but Wallace Foster should be the 5A MVP for the third time.

  3. They have been one of the smallest AA schools most of those years('92-'05). They have been A 5 years and have two state runner-ups('89-'91,'05-present).

Arts was in the old District 4-A before the district was split and they moved up in the '97-'98 school year, making them one of the largest single A schools in this area. As I said, alot of talent but not much in terms of results.

  4. Porter Roberts-Purdue, George Hudgins-Drexel, Carlos Clark-Holy Cross, Moses Lindsey-Okaloosa-Walton/Walters State, Kenny Mobley-Roane State/St. Angelos St., Justin Cambric-Roane State, Javan Martin-Lee/Milligan, Zach Dragoo-UTC, James Chapman-King College/Bluefield, Rodney Marsh-Hiwassee, Martell Powell-Bluefield. That is eleven who played college basketball in 17 years and I am sure there are some more that I can dig up if you want me too. They also have at least 3 seniors this year that will play college basketball. I would say that record is better than any other team in Chattanooga over Dragoo's tenure.

This many college basketball players coming thru in 17 years and zero titles, and only two state basketball appearances. I take back what I said about Grace. They've done that much with less talent.

  5. that's a shame. they have a lot of talent. i've found that the 2 biggest obstacles relating to great teamwork is selfishness and a lack of trust (or both). is this the case here?

Not as much selfishness, as people not knowing their roles/ parameters and being required to play within them.

  6. CSAS moved up to AA at somepoint during the mid 90's and was one of the smallest schools in AA. In 98 CSAS played your State Championship Crusaders and smoked them by like 30 I do believe.

While in AA they advanced to the Sub-State twice.

Since back in Single A they havent lost a District game in two years, and the closest game in District was maybe 17pts.

And someone else was saying how Coach Dragoo has under-achieved at CSAS. They have won 20 games a year for atleast the last 10yrs. He has had only one loosing season in 18 years at CSAS.

He has GRADUATED every player that has come through the program, and I would say close to 95% of those have gone on to GRADUATE college. SO lets see, he has won games with these kids, and made MEN out of them (many of them who dont have a father in their life) SO if you really think he has under achieved then maybe you should get your priorities in line.

Not losing a district game in that district is not something to brag about.

I would have expected every kid to graduate, your basically a private school without paying tutition.

  7. Sounds like a sour grapes player to me.....Coach Dragoo is one of the best coaches in Tennessee. His teams win consistently year in and year out.

Seriously, with the exception of last year, Dragoo's teams have always under performed since the early 90's. They have been loaded many times and come up short in the tourney.

  8. Easy there FCSprideatUT. Nobody at Temple is debating whether we are going to stop the program or not. If the new players stay with it next year Temple should easily contend for a playoff spot. We still have a couple of studs on the sidelines who are not eligible this year who will be contributing along with the new players we have already picked up from the gym. We could easily be 5-0 right now if these new players had started back in the summer with the rest of the team. The new AD/Head Football Coach looks to have trashed the whole offense and brought in a totally new one. Not wise, I know, but if he stays with it, things will look drastically different for next season, and we all know it. You have not been doing any debating but you may have been doing some wishful thinking. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Your other statements need some attention, also. Temple has only scored 8 points so far this season and I am certain that the way things look right now, 100 points against South Pittsburg would not be enough to ensure a win. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Really 5-0? You've got to be kidding. Even with the new players that wouldn't be possible.

  9. thats him #3 just wondering if he was playing varsity or not seems like a good athlete 2 me, how did they get him from Central i wonder? he looked good 2 me and very athletic i m just surprised he left such a good program. i figured he would get more scouts staying at the other school than a smaller school, may be wrong they probably try and get more players into college trhan a public school

Fuquan moved out of Central's zone and didn't want to go to Howard, his new zone school, so he transferred and is sitting out, he should be eligible for basketball postseason assuming Grace makes it farther than Central did last year.

Since when, recently, has Central been a good program in either sport? Bigger school, yes, but as far as state tournament possibilities Grace has a better shot at making it (basketball).

Quan will be a nice addition to the football team next year, really helping at DB, which is a weakness for Grace as evident by last Friday's game (3 interference penalties on Bledsoe's final series and then giving up the touchdown on the last play of the game).

  10. Simply that the negative reputation Grace has and continues to build isn't honoring to Christ, which the many good people there (thosse who don't participate or condone it) probably don't like.

The only person I've heard to speak of the "negative reputation of Grace" is you. You throw some pretty serious accusations around, claiming an institution isn't "honoring to Christ", be careful it may come back to bite you (ask Temple).

  11. I did not get to see the Grace game. In fact, I have not been to a Temple game since the first one against SAS. I was however surprised to see the number of penalties listed in the paper against Grace. I figure that the score probably could have been much worse but Grace's coach showed our JV team some mercy. I say that because I heard that there was a couple of times in the second half where the punt receiver signalled a fair catch when he could have easily run the ball back. If that is true, then I am assuming it was just Grace's coach showing some class. There is no reason for Grace to get all excited over their varsity team whipping what is basically Temple's JV team. From what I hear, Grace's middle school team could probably give Temple's football team a competitive game.

You are probably off base about basketball, though. Seth Skogan, Dee, and Josh all played both sports and it did not hurt them at all. I imagine it made them better in some ways in both sports. I do not know who all joined the football team that are basketball players but I do understand that Jeremy Sexton, Brandon Andrews, and James Kemp are all playing now. I have seen them on the basketball court enough times now to know that they will have a role in helping out as wide receivers, corners, and safeties. They do not bring any help to the line or as running backs, or line backers, in my opinion, especially if they do not want to get hurt. All three of those boys are very quick and very good at eluding opponents.

Grace's middle school team could hold Temple scoreless.

  12. Just having more athletes in 1A makes a difference. This could really help Temple. Wish more of Grace's basketball players played both. Does Grace have to have them? No, but boy they would be even better with the likes of Herman, Church and others. So many kids feel they have to specialize in one sport, which is just not true and kills programs in small schools.

  13. Does anyone know if the field at Temple is ready yet for the games Thursday (MS) and Friday? I drove by campus Saturday and it still looked like a soccer field.

Temple moved the game three times, before deciding to play at Grace. It is still a Temple home game. Grace Athletic passes will not work.

  14. BULL!!!!!!!!!!!! Your coach shouldn't have scheduled the game!!! He obviously didn't want to play it. We had fans show up at Grace and then come to Boyd. Your field was in better shape than ours. Yes we loved having to pull a two minute drill and get concession workers at 3:30. By the way, where were your workers, to help collect gate and work the concession stand. The DEAL is your getting half the gate and concession both years and not doing a thing for it....other than showing up and getting beat. We had to make that deal or your COACH would not have played!!!!

You and Silverdale need to get together and decide if you want to play with the big boys or not...if NOT, quit canceling games at the last minute. SD cancelled at 11:00 PM the night before a scrimmage. Grace just simply did not want to come. With all that said your players are first class. Coach leaves a LOT to be desired!

This is the Boyd I remember from the old district 4-A, loads of class. Thankfully, the majority of the fans Friday were not this way. By the way the game was not canceled, just the location was moved. Grace could have waited and played Monday. That still would not have been canceled, just postponed. Canceling is when you actually don't play, which Grace did against a good Boyd team.
