  5. I heard this morning from a reliable source that the Shelbyville boys bkb team has been banned from post-season play, so it seems that their season is over. Maybe somebody can confirm this news.

If this is true it is understandable, but for those athletes not involved, unfortunate.

I have no dog in this fight and do not even have a clear understanding what has happened. That being said I hate it for the players that were/are doing the right thing all year. I am not sure that a post season band is fair to all of the other players for the bad decision of one person, just a thought Like I said I have no dog in the fight I just hate it for the other seniors who have to end their career this way.

  6. Don't really know Burks, but it does seem peculiar that most of his talent leaves and goes to Siegel.

All of the talent does not leave and go to Siegel. They lost the Williams kid last year and everyoen will tell you that his dad is crazy and almost did not return to Siegel this year. And they also lost the little point guard, can't remember his name, but he is a junior and barely starting JV. I would have to say that "all" of RIverdales talent leaves when it really was one post with crazy parents, and a 5'5" junior point guard who barely plays JV.

Lets say all of the talent does leave, I think it proves he does a great job if he is winning and those are the two best players on the team when they leave wouldn't you?

  7. All teams in District 7 AAA will be plenty tested when league play starts after Christmas. Boroballer way to beat a dead horse. We now all know that Siegel has the toughest schedule in Tennessee, possibly all of the United States, and that Riverdale's schedule to this point has not been very strong. Siegel has the most talent, toughest schedule, and the best motivation for having the toughest schedule. Siegel is also the best fund raisers, and they have the best coach in District 7 AAA. You have set some lofty expectations for the Stars. I just hope that you all live up to all of them, or be ready to eat a big helping of crow if you do not live up to your billing.

You're putting words into my mouth here ThatsRight. You have not seen me say 1 time that Siegel has the toughest schedule in the state. Nor have you seen me say that Siegel has the most talent, that Siegel has the best fund raisers, or that Siegel has the best coach. I also havent said that Siegel was going to win the district, region, or state. If you can find and quote me where I said any of those things I will apologize on here for saying it. Until then, stop putting words in my mouth. I have simply stated that in my opinion, Siegel's schedule will best prepare them to make a post season run.

As for the best coach arguement... In my opinion Wright, Couey, and Dotson are your top 3. I think each has a legit arguement to be the best. Now on the flip side of that, I think Burks, Turnham, and Drayton are hands down on the bottom tier. Again, just my opinion.

So you think 2 first year coaches and a second year coach who arguably had the best talent in the state last year and could not get to the substate are the best coaches in the district? Wright is pretty good, Couey has never won where ever he has been and once again Dotson lets see what he can do without any college signees.

  8. Hillcrest and Trezvant would beat hickman co. and these other terrible teams by 50+. Both Trezvant and Hillcrest are EXTREMELY athletic teams that in my opinion would beat anybody in 7AAA. I just get tired of hearing people talk about how a team is 5-0 or 6-1 when they have played a bunch of TERRIBLE teams. Central Middle would give them a better game than these teams they have been playing. And no one compared Trezvant or Hillcrest to White Station or Ridgeway.

With all of this being said, I am a 7AAA fan. I have given Coach Wright props and congradulated them on a job well done in representing 7AAA. Wright may not be familiar with a lot of the teams in this area and I understand that. Burks on the other hand knows the teams around here yet year in and year out schedules terrible teams. As far as football players are concerned, Odom is the only player from Riverdale who plays football and actually contributes. So not having the football guys is no excuse for weak scheduling by Riverdale.

Boroballer I believe that it is only you that talks about records on here. I have not seen any other school talk about how great their record is except for Siegel. Show me the post that states anybody elses's schedule besides Siegel. And it seems to me that your only problem is with Riverdales schedule. What about Oakland beating Cane Ridge last night who is terrible, or Smyrna and who they played their HOF games against. If you are truly a boroballer you need to be less bias about some teams and more open to talk about others.

  9. Just wondering when someone in the district besides Siegel is going to play a team with a winning record. Scheduling terrible teams only provides false hope.

    Riverdale's opponents combined record: 1-11

    Oakland's opponents combined record: 8-12

Siegel's opponents combined redord: 12-8. One team counts for 4 of those losses.

    Go Stars!!! ;)

Wins don't always provide for false hope. Siegel has put together a good schedule. But they could also struggle if one of their guys gets injured. What is the make up of the teams in the district liek Lavergne, Blackman, and Smyrna who have they been playing?

  10. Scheduling early on can be tricky and is not all that easy. Look at the top Division 1 programs. There are no good match ups for a few weeks. I think it is imprtant to get a feel of where you at especially when it comes to the district schedule here in Murfreesboro. I will give credit to Siegel for their scheduling, but they also have one of the top players in the state that they need to show can perform at the next level.

I think that you have to also consider football is still going on. This can play a major factor in many problems.

I also realize that you have a major beef with Riverdale for some reason. I do not see you making any comments about Blackmans, Smyrna or Lavergnes schedule. How do they match up to every one elses in the district?

  11. That was on the old website, the new website will be up this week or early next week. The schedule you are talking about was probably up before he was added in the spring and was not changed because of the change in websites. He is still scheduled to speak on Friday the 25th at 7:30 followed by Tom Izzo at 8:30.

Thank you for clearing that up. It is a good line up and should be a fun night.

  12. The annual BCAT clinic will be held at the Nashville Airport Marriott, Sept. 25th-26th, 2009.

The schedule of the clinic is Friday night September 25th

    Jeff Walz Louisville Women 6-7:15

    Bruce Pearl Tennessee 7:15-8:30

    Tom Izzo Michigan State 8:30-9:45

    Saturday September 26th

Michael Burt Anatomy of Winning 8:30-9

    Kevin Stallings Vanderbilt 9-10

    Melanie Balcomb Vanderbilt Women 10-11

Ken McDonald W. Ky Men 11-12

Gene Menees TSSAA Rules Meeting 12-12:30

    Chris Lowery Southern ILL. 12:30-1:30

    John Schulman UTC 1:30-2:30

There will also be a meeting during the clinic of BCAT members to discuss topics confronting the sport in Tennessee. All members need to attend as well as anyone concerned about the direction of the sport needs to join so we have a unified voice. The calibur of coaches that are speaking gives you an idea of how well thought of the in state talent has been and will continue to be!

I was looking at the BCAT website and under the agenda it did not have Bruce Pearl. It had many of the other coaches though with their accomplishments. Is Coach Pearl no longer going to make it or was he inadvertenly left off?

  13. With some new coaching changes in the area who is looking this year? Franklin lost a bunch from last year but are always good so you know they will be clost to the top. Who else has a chance to make a run at a district title this year.
