  1. Not so fast my friend!

Harpeth has the tie breaker over Creekwood even if they were to lose to Montgomery Central it turns out since CW lost to the next highest common opponent in Waverly. Harpeth isn't finishing the game with MC and play Cheatham at home Tuesday night.

Sycamore won the coin toss at the district meeting yesterday and is the one seed. It's not based on overall record as was the opinion on the court after the game by many in the crowd.

I'm guessing the seeding works out like this based on previous posts. I'm too tired to do the math.......

1 Sycamore vs 8 Montgomery Central

    2 Harpeth vs 7 Cheatham

    3 Creekwood vs 6 Fairview

4 Stewart Co. vs 5 Waverly

Sycamore/Harpeth was a good game. It was a one point game at halftime, but I was disappointed in the officiating crew. I haven't seen any of those guys in a Harpeth game this season and I wasn't impressed. For the most part it was a defensive battle. Harpeth made a little run in the third period and brought a zone out of the closet that worked well for the most part. Sycamore got some good looks I thought, but the shots just didn't fall and Harpeth defended the three a lot better than the last time. I enjoyed the senior night festivities and the student sections on both sides did their part. We definitely need a bigger gym for this series!

Good luck in the tournament Indians! Go across the road and support the middle school Indians as they go for their 3rd straight TMSAA small school sectional title tomorrow night at HMS.

    there was a coin toss???

    why?

  3. is the weather affecting any of the games or does anybody know as of right now?? i know waverly was out of school today but dont have a game untill tomorrow night, what if it gets cancelled will they be rescheduling these games because right now are some of the most important games of the season

cheatham county schools are not closed today and last i heard the game for tonight is still on for waverly and sycamore...should be a good one

  4. Tyler Guye played exceptionally well against Mont. Central Friday and should be back in the starting line up soon.

as far as MVP goes Giltner is a great shooter but Pierre is the better athlete and in a pick up game i would pick Pierre first.

ha but were not playin pick up games and i have no vote so we'll see what happens

  5. Sycamore lost on Tuesday to a very good Creek Wood team. Creek Wood consists of an all senior starting five. They could not miss at all from beyond the arch. I think they missed maybe 3 all game and hit over ten. Sycamore made a ton of mistakes which lost them the game, and the refs didnt help but i hate to blame games on the ref (especially considering losing by 16). However sycamore did show good things, they hung in there and kept the crowd believing they could pull it out. Nicholson couldnt buy a three, and T Guye didnt play but the first two minutes of the first half due to foul trouble. Pierre FINALLY took over. He was easily the leading scorer and had his second OOP of the young season, had another fast break dunk, and barely misssed a tomohawk over primm. All in all Creek Wood was the better TEAM tonight, no standouts but they could all hit the three ball. If they shoot like this every night they will win state. Home court advantage really played out for them but its a young season and a rough game is finally out of the way. This could be a good thing for sycamore, the pressure of an undefeated district season is out of the way so now they can play ball. They get an easy team to recover with before the tough christmas tourny.

Coach Froedden is doing a great job and has impressed me a lot this season. He is not subbing as much as last year so i like that. Good luck to the war eagles in recovering from a tough loss

  6. Harpeth has a 6'8 post who from the stats the past few games has been stepping up a little. He had 10 against Dickson, we will see how he does. I cannot wait for the game either. If Sycamore's post can shoot over Dixon then it should be a very close game indeed.

if youre talking about the big red headed boy dixon he was never more than a big ogre, he could rebound but was too slow and couldnt shoot

the athleticism of dempsey could be key

sycamore beat cheatham by 34 harpteth beat them tonight by 13 i believe

sycamore beat fairview tonight holding them under twenty points it wasnt close

this only makes me feel a little better about friday however these games are always close no matter what and tend to be full of surprises

  7. This will be a great game

both teams lack size but can make it up with athleticism and shooting ability

i look for sycamore to utilize the post play with Dempsey, if Dempsey can have a big game i can see sycamore pulling it out in a close one that comes down to the wire like every year.

if Dempsey gets into foul trouble Sycamore needs Kilgore to have another big game

I will be looking forward to seeing Mitchell matched up with giltner as well

Pierre may be the best defender in the district taking on the best shooter in the district

    cant wait

  8. Georgia Tech had a representative in attendance taking a look at Trey Carruthers. GT was in town for the Vandy game.

A pretty good 2A high school basketball atmosphere I thought. Creekwood represented well with their student section and the stands were practically packed. Only Sycamore and maybe Cheatham would compete crowd wise in Harpeth's gym.

thats awsome for a georgia tech scout to be lookin at him

    big game this friday

any predictions or are we saving predictions

  9. I am by no means expecting a state championship for sycamore or harpeth this year but i am very optomistic that one of the two could challenge bolivar and i think that one of the two will finally make an elite eight appearance! with the first of the two big games coming in a little over a week my anxiety is growing.

both sycamore and harpeth have great shooters in Ty Caruthers and Nicholson

both have an athlete in Giltner and Mitchell

both have very quick and smart point guards in Tr Caruthers and Guye

and both have big men, Dixon is huge but slow where as Dempsey is shorter but just as strong and much more athletic

this advantage in the paint for sycamore is what i am hoping will win them the game

Mitchell is the best defender in the district and can contain giltner

if we can stop trey and giltner we win, if guye and nicholson keep strokin three's all over the place thats what we need

in the end i look for a great two games

and hopefully and elite eight appearance by one of the two because i would be cheering for either one of them /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  10. Sycamore will be an average team this year. I saw that they beat White House and was shocked but i didnt realize White House only had 1 varsity player playing and the other 14 were in football still. If they had beatin White House with all their players then Sycamore would be the real deal. But not taking to much away with the Mitchell kid and the shooter kid Sycamore will be average. I look for it to be competative between Harpeth and Sycamore for the district title.

creek wood is average....harpeth and sycamore are above average, average teams dont finish in the top two in their district every year

  11. When was the last time you all "destroyed" Harpeth?? Or are you just talking in general??

Sycamore looked good in their first two games, not great but very good. Definately a lot of POTENTIAL. They have the point guard, the shooter, the athlete and the big man, Tyler Cherry quit the team but Shane Staggs has played pretty well so far. If they can play together and get some shots to fall watch out. I look for Sycamore/harpeth game to be a shootout, cant wait

  12. i cant wait for the harpeth/sycamore game, but unfortunately it will be a lil while

i look for close pumped games that could come down to the wire, harpeth get your student section back up cause ours is rockin /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />

  13. So what you are telling me is that White House is not going to be much of a challenge for Sycamore this week right????? I was really looking forward to that contest in two nights also darn it.

i figured with them still playin football it wouldn't be as interesting, i was really hoping for a great first game

come out joey and see the fro den, it will be rocking sycamore will go very far this year

  14. oh my, i cant wait for this up and coming basketball season...just to let everyone know the afro man is alive and back along with about ten other members of the "Fro Den" (haha get it Fro Den = Froedden) anyway...i was able to see the first half of the sycamore domination of a scrimmage against independance...i was very impressed with the play of sycamore, they looked very well coached surprisingly compared to last season.

They have four above average starters in:

Tyler Guye- not incredibly fast for a point guard but is big and can handle the ball and shoots well

Aaron Nicholson- tall for a guard and lit up about five straight threes today in the scrimmage, very quick and rebounds extremely well for a guard

Pierre Mitchell- athlete, pure and simple, his shooting has greatly improved (maybe he can make a free throw) this is the guy you want to get the ball to

Travis Dempsey- small for a center but can post up anyone in the state, strong and he can score down low

the other starter tonight was shane staggs who is very fast but committs a lot of fouls trying to overpursue, more of a defensive threat

however the sophomore kilgore looked good tonight as did coach's son, who is a bit small but looked very mature playing the game and didnt make a ton of mistakes like you would expect out of a freshmen, also look for tyler cherry to get a lot of action, he is big and strong and has experience coming from brentwood academy

if sycamore can get that fifth player to step up, i look for either cherry or foedden-which would move tyler to the shooting guard spot-they can give harpeth a beating

but i suspect some good harpeth/sycamore games as always and a good battle between the pep clubs

    it will be a fun season /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

  15. well senor catfish, you obviously have not seen a sycamore game this year cuz big john kinman doesnt start anymore, or even play for that matter. However Travis Dempsey has done more than fill his shoes, he really stepped it up against kenwood. Both teams beat kenwood by about the same amount, both have the same record. We should be in store for a good ol' fashion barn burner.

    Sycamore 68

    Cheatham 61

  16. Lohin played??????????

That is one tough young man if that is true because last Friday when I saw him there were some instances, like for one on that kick return when he got layed out, that I wondered would he be able to get off the deck

If he did play last night I want to say right now that he's the toughest basketball player in the district hands down

Lohin played about half the game. he played very well and like always seemed to help the rest of the team play better as well.

    my prediction

    1.sycamore

    2.harpeth

    3.cheatham

    4.stewart

    5.creekwood

    6.montgomery central

    7.waverly/fairview

    8.waverly/fairview (who cares)

its actually a battle for the cheatham county title not the district title this year

    should be interesting

father ryan at sycamore tonight at 8 45

father ryan beat a very good kenwood team last night in ot

and sycamore slaughtered goodpasture by around 30

should be a great game tonight :thumb:

  17. Kenwood beat Montgomery Central 88-55 last night.

Cheatham Co. beat Goodpasture 59-52 last night.

Friday's game between these two should be very entertaining <_<

kenwood travels to sycamore in a couple of weeks, i was just wondering if that kenwood score is misleading

i know that kenwood is always very very fast and just as athletic, but i also know that mc was terrible last year

should the same fast tempo kenwood team be expected?

  18. its to early for me to try and pick this one but i know all three cheatham county teams will battle for the title. they are all very talented teams. i believe sycamore and harpeth will split games and leave the tourny to decide. should be some good games and i look forward to the smack talk on here with the harpeth kids as always :thumb:
