1. I thought the Harpeth student section did pretty good last night. You guys taught them well. There was even a guy in a gorilla suit. I loved the 'they're all freshmen' chant when we put 5 rookies out there at the same time.

Well hopefully I'm wrong and I wish I could have heard that. But it sounds a little weird to have a gorilla suit but owell whatever woks i guess. We had cows last year they have gorillas this year /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  2. Well I wish I could get to more 11AA games but I'll be too busy watching Top 10 NCAA basketball up here in Knoxville. But anyways Harpeth better be able to run this year because I don't think they have the post to get them there yet. Giltner and the Caruthers Bothers will be forces to be reckoned with and they know how to play defense. The player I really like on there team is Cody Hudson. He is a great mid range shooter (which is a lost art) and surprisingly is very clutch. He came on strong on Senior Night last year for the Indians and I expect him to be a major contributor to the Indians this year. Sycamore sounds like a loaded team but I do think the leadership lost will play a minor role in how this team performs. They seemed to have some mental breakdowns last year so without Lohin and company i expect them to have more. They are a fiery bunch and I like that in a team. Plus I think they remember getting beat 4 times on 4 different floors by Harpeth last year. I have to pick Harpeth to win the district but it may come down to another tie breaker like last year. Harpeth doesn't seem to play well at Creek Wood and tends to shoot bad in places like Cheatham where the depth perception behind the basket are extremely different from their own. Now that I have have used depth perception in a basketball post and shamelessly showed school pride for my university I'll let all the "experts" discuss 11AA

p.s. Don't expect Harpeth to have a very intimidating student section like in years past. They lost the heart and soul of it with the Graduating class of 2007. Maybe some of the students will use their pep rally skills in something that actually means something.

  3. DL

yea but it has happened at a school in west TN if im not mistaken already this year or i kno there were atleast some complaints about football coaches that coached baseball somehwere else

  4. I agree, I hope Harpeth can pull it out.

    Harpeth 62

    Bolivar 56

    Liberty 88

    Sycamore 68

BC I will be wearing a st. louis cardinals flat bill(red) sitting on the front row of where ever there are Harpeth fans. Straightbill wont be able to make it, he has a baseball game. If anybody wants to meet with me I am about 6'4 big guy and will be wearing that hat (red cardinals flat bill).

Well I should be somewhere remotely close to him I'll be wearing an Atlanta Braves hat (the home sunday hats not the regular ones) and it will be backwards. I will also be wearing a " Kings of Kingston" shirt and blue basketball shorts

  5. QUOTE(papatiger @ Feb 26 2007 - 10:40 PM) 826391111I apologize. I misread you're intentions. Sorry, it is old age creeping in. Accept my apology please. Lohin is really good, but by no means could he even start on Harpeth I think.

Apology accepted lol I bet he could start at Harpeth fairly easily he could start over Josh Jones.

  6. QUOTE(SYCAMORECOUNTY08 @ Feb 26 2007 - 10:27 PM) 826391069Are you denying Austin Lohin's greatness?? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Get on his level my friend!!

I think he is. Get on him. I personally think he is a good player.

  7. QUOTE(Tigers Fan @ Feb 26 2007 - 10:17 PM) 826391039You just picking Harpeth cause you kno Liberty gon beat sycamore /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

    11aa district can't keep up with Up-tempo games!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I wouldn't be so sure about that one buddy. The Harpeth vs Jackson South Side was a up-tempo game and they won that game by 21 points. Harpeth is the best conditioned team from 11aa aswell so look for it to be closer than all the west tn folks expect.

  8. That's true. Sometimes I forget that most of these 18-19 year old guys on here are spouting off with emotion.

Do I have anything against the Cheatham county teams? Absolutely not. I cheer for them. I just love watching a great team like Liberty Tech, they don't come around often. Just trying to make these guys realize that reality has to set in too. I've seen teams from our District Waverly too, who after they get out of the district struggle because we just don't play the same type of ball that these West Tennessee guys do.

I am rooting for Harpeth and Sycamore but I realize it just is not going to happen.

Look forward to meeting you too.

Oh,by the way. I am a kid at heart and always will be. Ask anyone who knows me. I'm 49 going on 16. Life is more fun that way.

Slube, all his answers seem to have Liberty in there somewhere. We could be talking about the Bolivar vs Harpeth game and he'll throw out Liberty. Plus it seems like someone is missing Rico and Curtis just a little bit. :D

  9. Yes, I know who you are. I've always wondered what parent was HHS1-makes sense now. Thanks for the nice comments. It's been a long 5 years. Our best wishes go out to the Indians against Bolivar. It would be nice to say that we gave a loss to not only the district champs but also a region finalist.

Thanks BC. I told my assistant in the 2nd quarter that it sure was quiet in that gym.

Well Slube isn't HHSnumber1fan he just know's him very well :D

  10. The only reason Creek Wood was up by 8 was because of the bogus calls the refs were making and the fact Bolivar didn't put alot of pressure on the people handling the ball. After halftime Bolivar put more pressure on the ball handlers and the lead they had evaporated fast. Bolivar outscored Creekwood 23-2 in the 3rd Period. Bolivar could have easily beaten them 30+ but Creek Woods coach pulled his starters with 6:00 remaining in the 4th quarter and We pulled our starters as well. Bolivar should beat harpeth by 10.

Well Creek Wood is a Dr. Jekel/Mr. Hyde team they did beat Harpeth at the beginning of the season but the second time Harpeth took it to them. However the 1st loss at their place and I don't think Harpeth has won there in the past 3 years and I know for a fact the past 2 we did.

  11. Can't make a prediction, haven't yet concerning any of the 12AA teams. I haven't seen anyone play except Liberty. Haven't seen the teams they play during the regular season. So I am not equiped to make a prediction. Can't make a prediction just knowing one team, eh papa?

However, I do believe, that Harpeth has proven they can play with anyone. The teams they played in Murray were fundamentaly sound teams and they hung. The teams they played in Florida were a notch above most teams we get to see, athletically, similar to the 12AA teams, and they proved they could play with them and win.

So that being said, I like their chances to finish 2nd in the region, IF THEY BRING THEIR A GAME.

I strongly agree on your observations in this post.

And P.A. there is a pretty good catfish place in Waverly if u like that but if you don't there is the normal stuff: Taco Bell (which is probably rat free lol), Sonic, Micky D's and a mexican place

  12. I believe they have been the odds-on favorite to win state since the buzzer sounded last year in the championship game.

We know you've gotten the obvious prediction correct, so congrats. You also have stated pretty much that NONE of the teams in 11AA could compete with 12AA as a whole, seems you've a little off-base with that one as well.

If you have nothing more to offer than ..."but Harpeth or Sycamore can't hang..." Maybe you don't have anything worth typing to offer.

Harpeth played an excellent game. They did what they had to do against a faster, more athletic (on the whole) team team. They were patient with the press, deliberate on offense, everyone was blocking out and controlling the boards, and they played great team defense.

If they can keep up this level, physically and mentally, maybe they can stay within 40 of Leberty.

Congrats Indians, kudos to the student section and thanks to the South Side team and fans, they were disciplined and classy.

So Slube, what do you think about Harpeth's odds against Bolivar on Tuesday?

  13. O, O, O, O. Let me gather myself. O,O, O, O, I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe. LIberty allowed cheatham to score 70 by playing 17 players tonight. this game was never, never, never close. Liberty had 52 points on the board with 4 minutes left to go in the 2nd qtr. do you hear me. 4 minutes left to go in the second qtr. and the bad thing about that is they played the second team more than the first team in the first half.

ONe thing district 11AA can be thankful for. Schools can only enter one team in the tournament. Otherwise, Liberty tech's second team would be runnerup in the region.

Cheatham played their starters the whole game even when the bottom 7 guys for Liberty was playing. When the bottom tier of players went in, it was 83-43. Guys, this team is for real. NO ONE will get within 30 of them.

Bolivar will end Harpeth's season Tuesday night too.

I agree with you when you say no one will beat Liberty i have said that all along but i do disagree about the Bolivar vs Harpeth game. Harpeth look really good tonight. They played as good if not better than they have in their best games this year. Once i heard that Creek Wood had an 8 point lead at half time i knew that it's not gonna be a cake walk for Boliver on Tuesday. Harpeth will be ready to play on Tuesday and I'm predicting a Harpeth win not a blowout a close game maybe by 10 at most.

  14. Bolivar won 62-45, what happened in this game???? Did CW's lack of guards kill them??

    Bolivar vs. Harpeth

    Sycamore vs. Liberty(I bet)

Should be fun games in Waverly, top teams from both regions. Lets finish this 11aa. :D

Well I talked to ksgovols at Harpeth and he told me Creek Wood was up by 8 at Half time but then just blew it. Liberty won 99-70. So Sycamore should give then a lil bit more of a problem on Tuesday. If Liberty allowed Cheatham to score 70 they better watch out for Sycamore which has more athletes that Cheatham.

  15. Yeah. There's usually another hundred anyway in the student section and they're a little more animated usually. I did hear them get on the refs a little bit, but none of the 2 a days chants or the other stuff. Come on student section! Bring the A game!

last night was a little bit of a downer but hopefully we will be there tonight but with it being saturday it may only be the hardcore fans there tonight like myself, HHSnumber1fan, and straightbill will show up for this game tonight but I can't make any promises.

  16. Now that all of the joking is aside I will be serious for one final time this season prior to the Region & State Tournaments

Harpeth played an outstanding game tonight. Scott Newton may be the regular season MVP but the real "Sycamore Killer" this year has been Kevin Giltner. That trend continued tonight and led Giltner to being Tourney MVP. For Sycamore I must say that THEY WERE NOT ON THE GAME TONIGHT!!!! The War Eagles fell in a hole early and gained a ton of momentum at the end of the first half when they stormed back to take what looked to be a 2-POINT LEAD heading into the lockerroom. That was before #15 for Harpeth hit one from the Stratton's Parking Lot to give Harpeth a 21-20 edge heading into the intermission. Wilson's team really built off of that great clutch shot and took over to start the third period and Froedden's team did not have an answer. Harpeth hit every big shot from then on while Sycamore did something that they never do which is LOST THEIR COMPOSURE!!!! Nicholson is really the only Sycamore player that I recall doing much of anything that I'd consider to be "positive" late in tonight's game. Credit Harpeth's defense for most of it but also to be a "big time team" Sycamore's players have got to avoid allowing Harpeth to get on "THE BIG RUN" against them that always seems to decide the outcome of the game. In the first meeting it happened right before the half when Giltner hit the big shot to give the Indians all of the momentum in the world and in the previous meeting prior to tonight it was Newton who came out early and carried Harpeth to a huge lead that they held onto late. Tonight #15 hits a shot prior to the half to halt a Sycamore rally and it seemed to "take all of the air out of the sails" of the War Eagles.

I would certainly love to see these two teams play for a fifth time in the Region 6AA Final. I don't believe it will happen becuase Liberty Tech is a great team and barring any kind of REALLY FLAT PERFORMANCES next week they'll at least get 1 of 2 against one of these two teams.

Sycamore will not lose to McNairy Central at home on Saturday Night. Guys like Austin Lohin, Derek Cannon, Murray Harris, & John Kinman do not want for their playing careers to end in their "own backyard". McNairy Central has a great basketball player on their team in Ken Bingham. Sycamore's players are aware of what he did to Harpeth last year in the Regional Opener. That game did occur after all following the War Eagles crushing of what all 12AA fans were calling "a very good Lexington Tigers bunch" :thumb:

Has Jackson South Side beaten anyone lately besides Camden & Chester Co.????? They lost both their second and third meetings to Bolivar Central. They lost both their second and third meetings to McNairy Central. They also lost to a Lexington team that has been home for over a week now. Jackson South Side started off the season looking like a real threat to compete for the state this year as Slube said but now they will be very fortunate just to survive the opening round of the Regional Tourney over the weekend. Harpeth is a team "on a roll" and they will be reminded numerous times about last year's disaster after winning the District Title. It's going to be a long bus ride back to Jackson on Saturday night for the Hawks.

ON A SIDE NOTE: I wish both of these teams student sections would decide to cheer THE ENTIRE GAME instead of starting out cheering then standing in silence for 2+ quarters before getting involved in the game once again when crunch time arrives. The crowds next week will be a huge key for District 11AA & I encourage all of the Harpeth, Sycamore, & even the Cheatham Co. fans to unite as one and cheer these two outstanding Men's Basketball teams on to victory THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE ENTIRE GAME!!!!

I plan on being at Waverly Central High School next week and I'll be the biggest District 11AA fan in the house as well. That means that I'll be a Harpeth & Sycamore fan (and maybe even a Creek Wood or Cheatham Co. fan if either of them can pull an "upset special" on Saturday Night). I already have hopes of seeing a Harpeth vs Sycamore V next week. Hopefully that same hope applies to you all as well.

Well to answe your side note most of the Harpeth students were into the game most of us have some sort of knowledge of the game of basketball. We also had to watch what we said because of the lady cop right beside came over to us before the game and said if things get hostile y'all will have to sit down. After the 1 2 3 4 you can't beat us Sycamore chant she came and sat 2 people down from me in our student section. But, did Sycamore's fans chant anything in the 2nd half? I heard a couple defense chants in the 1st half.

  17. Congrats to the Harpeth Indians, and the whole Harpeth basketball program with the clean sweep of the district titles, MVPs, Players of the year and coaches of the year. Now lets try to avoid that post-sycamore let down we tend to get sometimes (i.e. McNairy last year) :thumb: good luck in the region tourny and hopefully we can get to the title game atleast so we have a shot at the state tourny. I'm not asking for any miricles by beating Liberty just because they are that good. Just take care of business one game at a time and you should do fine.
