  1. Grizzlies won the Queen City Classic at Clarksville this past weekend. All wins by double digits. 19-1 on the season, and they have only played one team twice this year. They are planning to go back into the AAU / YBOA circuit next year if the football players can work it out.

  2. Grizzlies have won a few games by 3 or so. Often the game is totally in hand, the pace is being controlled, and the opponent makes 1 or 2 desperation 3's at the end, making the game look closer than it actually was. The Grizzlies have led and controlled every game they have played, except one. Drew Kelly is not the only big time player on that team. Blake Neel is awfully good, too, and basically every kid on the team can play.

The Franklin Rage is better than some of the teams being mentioned on these lists, and the Fury Select is not far behind. Both basically local teams.

  3. Brentwood Grizzlies beat the Celtics by double figures, and the game against the Stars was a good game, but Grizzlies led all the way and game was never in doubt.

The Tigers - Elite are two teams now, or they share players depending on AAU or YBOA. Many players on Elite are not from Tennessee, so you can bet they will be very stong.

In all fairness to the Grizzlies, they do not compete at the level of the Tigers, War Eagles, or Elite. The cool thing about the Grizzlies is that the same core group of 7 or 8 players (friends) from a few local schools have stayed loyal to the team, and the team has stayed loyal to the players. No recruiting, no soliticing, no complaining. Just good team ball, great post player, great attitudes, and great coaching. So the Grizzlies are probably the 4th best team in the state, and proud of it.

  4. I agree with that, we knew the Tigers would be a strong team with good coaching. Hopefully we can play again. We didn't feel like we got cheated, we just thought we played the first half cold. We would play up if we just had a little deeper bench anyway. The Grizzlies could probably do quite well in the sub-state and state tourneys this year, but we will never know for sure. The Grizzlies are also open to holding some scrimmages, as we do not plan to play very deep into the summer. All our players will be deeply involved in football by then.

  5. The Brentwood Grizzlies won the tourney. There was a loss Saturday night. Got down by 18 in first half with cold shooting, but cut the margin to 7 in the second half. But the winning team was playing with a bunch of 16 yr olds and turned themselves in. Grizzlies would have preferred a rematch, but the team was ejected. Beat a good Franklin County team in the finals. This is year four for the Grizzlies, with the same core group as Day 1. Only 7 or 8 on current roster, but a great group of loyal guys. Drew Kelly continues to shine. Great player, great kid. The other 6 guys all contribute points, play great defense and team ball. The Grizzlies also have outstanding coaching.

  6. Grizzlies are a good TEAM and Drew Kelley was easliy the best player in the 15 year old divsion. Against the celtics he made all the big plays and shots and also got all the big rebounds and blocked shots. The celtics beat the stars on saturday night. I think the top 15u teams in no paticular order Tennessee Tigers, Nashville Celtics,Mid-State Ballerz, Murfreesboro Stars. I hope we can get all these teams to the state tournament for aau and see what happens.

No big deal, but if the Grizzlies Team beat the Celtics, Ballerz, Stars, wouldn't that get them on your list? Can you imagine if that team went out and recruited! I think they played with 7 players.

  7. Nashville Celtics and Mid State Ballerz Elite are the best two teams with a large amount of talent on both rosters. Arguably will be the best two AAU teams in the state this summer.

Brentwood Grizzlies beat the Celtic in the semi's and beat the Stars in the finals in the 15U.

  8. I think it is a big problem. i heard alot of things said by parents that was just way out of line. personal things that had nothing to do with basketball and to me it is always 1 or 2 organizations in Nashville Tenn that has this negative stuff coming from parents.

I really think the coaches could do more. If one of our parents got that out of control, our coach would fix it. We had a Murfreesboro coach / assistant sit at the scoretable and racially taunt my wife while she was doing the book, and the young scorekeeper just giggled. It starts with the leaders.

  9. They got some odd braketing in this tourney. Looks like in the 15u division, all 3 pools have different requirments to move on. Pool A be best 2 out of 4, Pool B be best 1 out of 4, and Pool C be best 1 out of 3. Sometimes it's better to turn away the late teams and even out the brackets. Too bad for Pool B.

  13. Yes, he would have carried Columbia to the playoffs most definately. Columbia needed a QB.

If Columbia really did beat only Spring Hill and two others, lost to Independence, one guy would not bring them into the play-offs. Win a few more maybe, 1st round maybe. Point is one guy can make a difference, but he can't carry a whole football team. A pitcher can shut down a team, a bball stud can dominate a game, but a QB can't excel without good blockers, runners, receivers. Get back to the point....Ravenwood should be very good again, even losing a D1 prospect, or two D1 prospects.

  14. heck, you don't even need a consensus on this one. The fact is that they are losing their stud QB. I bet you Vanderbilt started their fair share of underclassmen this year, but with Cutler graduating, do you really think they'll be as successful as they were this year? No. Ravenwood is losing their leader; he's been the leader for 4 years. Plain and simple: Ravenwood will not have the success next season that they did this year.

Obviously repeating the success of this year would be near impossible......Best in the State! The point made earlier is that they will be solid. Lots of college teams lose a starting QB and do well the next year. On the other hand some have two starting QB's with experience and tank. Here's something to think about. How well would TC have done on Columbia's team, or Clarksville's team? He would have been good, but do you think he could have carried them into the play-offs. It takes a team.

  15. I think as good as TC Jennings is, and he is veerry good, this theme that "it was all TC", and "if it wasn't for TC......" is overdone and an insult to a TEAM that FLAT GOT IT DONE, from the Coach to the third string. Ravenwood often controlled the line of scrimmage, played great at LB, and was obviously well coached. Teams like that don't fall down too far in one year.

  16. Are all these names "best players" or "best scorers"? Are these opinions based on stats including stops, rebounds, assists, blocks, shot percentage, etc. or just points? Points in loses don't count too much, they may have even hurt the team. For my money I'll take the earlier mentioned Drew Kelly. He's not only a scorer, but a defender, rebounder, passer, runner, worker, and all with a good team attitude.

  17. Saw Dickson Freshman play last night. No superstars but played good beating Rossview. They have a player that I think his name is Adams that also plays with the varsity. He seems to be the best one. They had a big guy that scored several points and blocked shots. Not sure who he is. Rossview has many good players. Fun game to watch.

Again, not saying all those guys aren't the real deal, it's just interesting and fun to see the other teams fans compliment a coach who wins with no superstars. Good to see team ball, defense, patience, and execution.

  18. Others that I know of that will make noise as freshmen are Thad McHaney of BA, Evans Webb from Lipscomb, Daniel Parker - BGA, Joseph Sloan - MBA, and Drew Bledsoe and DJ Key of Fairview.

Definately agress, those are all very good players. Played the last two from Fairview last night and they were strong. DJ had a great game. I guess that means 40% of their starting line-up were some of the best. They did wind up losing to a strong "team" with no superstars however, by 22pts at home.
