Humboldt cant pay Dexter enough to make that move. No chance that happens. You're talking about a $20,000 pay cut if not more... No way.

 You never know. In the Humbolt School district, you can be and Administrator and Athletic Coach. We this is not the case in many school districts.

Coach Boykin was Asst. Principal and Coach. So we will see.

Thanks for the update guys. As a Humboldt alum I am loyal to west TN. However, the Butler offer is by and far the best out of the bunch. They are rebuliding there and he could see significant minutes early in his college carrer. They are in the Big East and paly a national schedule ( TV Time). The play thier confernce tournament at Madison Square Garden. How much more could you want?  This is me on the outside looking in here, but as 87vikingalum said, whoever he chooses will be getting a BIG TIME talent.

The fact of the matter is that we do not know the whole story and probalby never will. Yes Balnd had a good run there. He was able to make the playoffs. He had winning seasons. The thing is they just decided to go in a different direction. It happens all over America. In the corporate world, college, pro, and high school.

Was it done in a politcaly correct fashion? NO!

Does the school admin have the right to make these decisions? YES!

Coach Reid would have been stupid to turn down the job. People are saying he is suspect for accepting it...If you were offered a promotion at work would you take it....You may say NO on this message board...but deep down you would say YES

LOL, winning in middle school is ALOT different than winning in high school, lol... How is this not good ole boy system? A coach is fired, and probably wouldn't have been notified today had he not asked administration, and there's a new coach hired within 2 hours of it being publicly known....

For all of the people who don't know coach Reid. He is flat out a winner! He led the Humboldt basketball team to a state championship in 1976. He was one of the best running backs to play at Humboldt. He went on to UT and a brief stint with the Raiders.

He Returns to his hometown and dedicates the past 30 years to Humboldt education. He has been offered greener pastures but stayed loyal to his community.

He has become a winning coach at the Middle school level in both football and baskeball. His football team winning the gibson county championship. his basketball team winning their portion of the State championship.

His football pedigree is that of a life long learner of the game from the assitant coach level in High School Football. He learned from the fantastic football coach John Tucker.

Junior was responsible for molding one of the greatest backfields in Tennessee footbal history. Kelcey Williams, Maurice Jelks, Marcus Bonds, Carl Williamson.

So this is not a fluke, Good Ole Boy Network, or Racial. This is about the community. Bringing in a loyal dedicated and more than capable coach is about bringing this community together as it was in 1995 when Humboldt Football was the end all be all.

Thanks for your dedication to your community Coach Reid! The players are getting more than a coach. They are getting an example of how to lead and be loyal.

White I'm ELATED that Mphs Manassas defeated Humboldt, it is very unfortunate that these 2 teams had to meet up in the 1st round!

I don't care what anyone says, I firmly believe that a 1st-round matchup of these (widely accepted) top-teams goes against the grain of everything that is pure and right about sports playoffs, not just high school basketball, IMO!

I wouldn't call my post above talking mess.... That is an assessment that i made from what i was able to odserve.... Manassass does not shoot the ball well.... That is just making a baskeball assessment... Now I am not aware of who Trader B is... Although I belive that he took it from a stand point of the game.

1.) Manassas has not played a team of Humboldt's Claiber---- True

2.) Manassas doesn't shoot he ball well---- True

3.) Manassas will have alot to worry about come Wednesday --- True

4.) Manassas would have been better equiped with last years roster ---- True

5.) If Manassas is able to shoot well as well as excecute their other goals the will be a very hard team to beat by anyone---True

LOL, Why did you start a stupid post like this? So, what if they didn't have a Mr. Basketball finalist, so didn't a lot of teams, it's about "TEAM BALL". If, the schedule was soft, then next week we will find out!!!! You must be nervous because all you have done in the last (2) two week is post something about Humboldt that is negative. I don't know or care what your problem is but it's just a game. If, manassas wins then everyone will congratulate them & you so stop posting negative stuff. Remember, these are (16) sixteen & (17) seventeen year old, young adults that we are talking about, and with that I'm going to leave this subject alone. I'm pretty well aware of the mental aspect in a game...realize it helps to have all parts of the body(team) functioning properly. In case you haven't figured out...I'm not from Manassas...but I know good when I see it and I rely on more than points in a game to make assesments....Average in rebounds, blocks, assists, steals....and it seems to me an all around well balanced player....and yes...I have seen him play. Also now Manassas has more weapons than Buckner. You do not garner national attention on the AAU or high school level being a lazy player. I do believe college scouts know quite a bit more than anyone on these boards...I'm more apt to listen and trust their assesments and judgements on a player. He is a top defender in the nation....you can score all day long but if you cannot defend at the college level you do not have a chance. Defense if the difference between a good player and a great player.

Waht does that matter.... Put it like this i will make that available after the state tourn.... A few years back I played for one of the teams in the state tourn. They should do well and hopefully have a good three games there....

I do however understand your commitment to Manassas, but if you take all emotion out of it at the end of the day Manassas has not played a team as complete as Humboldt. Even the Scotts Hill coach noted in the paper that they were not ready for what they came into.

If they meet up it will be a great clash of the titians.

Again Insults get you know where... Believe me if the heart is not pumping fully the body will not function properly. A bad game is more than just points.... It could be all around... fouls, points, assists, rebounds can all take a hit. You guys have to know that basketbal is more of a mental game also.... We will see what happens.
