1. QUOTE(briank @ Mar 27 2007 - 10:53 AM) 826423896manz and aj are one in the same. Every post is about MM. The good players don't need relatives constantly reminding us how great she is. Actions speak louder than words. I have never had a negative word towards MM.............just the ones who feel they constantly have to brag on her. (over and over and over) Looking at your past post, you even criticize the players on your own team who apparently don't pass enough to your girl. Now that's class.

Speaking of the Hudson girl, she is very deserving of her Miss Basketball award. She will have a great college career.

This post just goes to show how much you DON'T know. I don't believe either one of us are relatives of MM, just people who have watched her play over the years, and YES, she has had a great career, as I know many players are that have been overlooked. And, by the way, my opinion of others on her team is just that, my opinion. I suppose you have watched her team play over the years as well, and your opinions are based on facts? It really doesn't matter tho, your posts are intended to be sarcastic and nothing else.

It never ends................................Hopefully, you will move to mid-major college board next season.

Occasionally, they talk about tn tech on that board.

As far as I know, this is an opinion board, and you are welcome to yours but so is everyone else. You must really have something against Mendenhall, just can't quite pinpoint what it is. I guess players going somewhere other than SEC or major DI just aren't worth talking about....so where are your derogatory comments about Kayla Hudson? She's going NAIA, and there's probably a college board for Union as well.

  3. QUOTE(logcabinman @ Mar 1 2007 - 08:43 AM) 826394642I was told that all regions are sending representatives from their all region teams to participate in a state tournament in Murpfreesburo, is the true? If so, when did this start, and what is it about?

Does anyone have anymore info on this all star game?

  4. QUOTE(bobcat15 @ Feb 23 2007 - 11:24 AM) 826385870You obviously have NO knowledge of high school basketball. District 11 will not sweep the region tournament. McNairy, South Side and Liberty all have very talented teams. I'm not trying to down district 11 but I don't think that district 11 has the explosiveness to hang with any of these teams for an entire game.

    McNairy wins by 12

    Liberty wins by 7

    South Side wins by 3

Harpeth hung with 2 of these 3 teams last year for an entire game, and won the entire region tourney, and have you even seen Cheatham play?

  5. If the Region 6 AA tournament is not an all District 11 final, everyone in that area should be ashamed .This is the weakest you will ever catch District 12.Only McNairy has a real chance.South Side is young and will be a team to watch next year,Liberty is missing some vital parts to their game but might have one more great game left in them and Lexington is getting better, but has too many young people to be a serious threat (could they have the eye of the Tiger )...Sycamore and Harpeth are loaded with experienced players and Cheatham Co. is a power of the future with a great young team.Creekwood has experience and a Lambuth signee.

11 AA will take three games for sure, but beware of the Lady Bobcats, they are better than you think.Watch out for the Blue Nation, the team and Coach Lott. They know how to win.

Just wondering, how does McNairy's team this year compare to their team last year? Did they lose any key players last year, add new ones this year?

  6. QUOTE(LA Wildcats @ Feb 14 2007 - 04:47 PM) 826371961

Alison West of LA should have got Defensive MVP. She leads her team in rebounds every night and has several blocks every game and she is only 5ft 9in. Kaci Ferris doesnt impress me. Come on she is 6-8 she should be getting that many points and rebounds a game because there is no one as tall as her to defend her.

I've never seen Alison West play but I have to agree with you about Kaci. I think because she is so tall she is getting all the attention that many other better players should have gotten in their careers but didn't because they may be only 5'8"(with the exception of Anne Marie Lanning, of course). I have seen Kaci play, and she does get a lot of rebounds and makes a lot of close shots, but that is what a tall post is supposed to be able to do, isn't it? I think she could be a great player if her level of coordination catches up with her height. I think I would rather call someone who is 5'8", can jump, gets a lot of rebounds, can shoot close to the basket or shoot the 3, can assist her teammates in scoring, and is fast up and down the court, a great player, and more deserving of attention but for some reason those types of players don't often get recognized.

  7. How many points has Mandy Mendenhall scored?

It might also be pointed out that Salem Richardson scored her 1000 point on Friday against Sycamore.

Yes, Congrats to Salem for hitting 1000 pt mark as well!!!

Not sure on Mandy's total points because the actual number wasn't stated but she must be over 1500 mark, as she hit the 1000 pt mark before the end of last season.

  8. QUOTE(scanooni22 @ Feb 8 2007 - 11:21 AM) 826363464

I personally think that Salem does more for the Harpeth team than Mendenhall. I remind you that it's the Most VALUABLE Player...not best player. If you take Salem off that team then who guards the other teams best player? Who gets Mendenhall the ball? She is a great defender, passer, and scorer in her own right. Now, don't get me wrong, Mendenhall is one of the best scorers I've seen in a long time on the girl's level. And she is a tremendous player...but to me she doesn't do enough of the other things to be considered most valuable.

I think Hunter at Cheatham is the same way. She does EVERYTHING for that team. Defends the best player, scores all the points, gets the ball to everyone else, and on most occasions is the leading rebounder!! She is my front runner for the MVP award, in my opinion. Because if you take her off that team then they are very, very mediocre. And there's no way they are in second place right now in the district. So my pick is Megan Hunter for MVP.

For coach of the year, I have no idea. Johnson, Carr, and the coach from Creekwood would have to be one of the ones to take it. Maybe the coach from Waverly...because they have way over achieved. But I really think it is a three-way horse race between the top 3's coaches.

Salem?????????you've got to be joking. She's only learned how to PASS the ball in the last couple of weeks. She can rebound, defend and score, however as for her shot selection, she has a lot more learning to do. And what about her Attitude? Consistency? Best all around player, that's what MVP is about, and Mandy Mendenhall has that hands down!!!!

  9. QUOTE(bballjunky @ Feb 8 2007 - 05:15 AM) 826363064

I think that Ashley Matthews and Mandy Mendenhall are both very good player and both of these young ladies should be a candidate for Miss Basketball in AA. I don't think it would be fair to either one of them if they wasn't a candidate, both have work very hard, and both are very desiring of the award. If I had to pick one of them it would be Matthews, I have watched both play for a couple of years now and I just feel like Matthews is the overall better player. That not saying anything bad about Mendenhall that just a personal opinion. Good luck to both of the young ladies.

I've never seen Ashley Matthews play, but just from the Tennessean stats, Mandy has her beat, even though you can't tell too much from stats because you miss so much if you've never seen them actually play. Mandy is the best all-round player I have ever seen, and a great person too. She can do it all on the basketball court. Good Luck to both of them. Where is Ashley going to play in college?

  10. Sycamore wins by 15, because they play the JV during the majority of the 4th quarter.

Sycamore boys and girls won last night.

While Mendenhall is a great player, I would always take the team over an individual.

This should be evident in last night's game, Mendenhall had a great game, but no one else did.

You're right! But if Flippo, Richardson and Mendenhall are all on in Friday's game, Sycamore's JV may not see the floor in the 4th. Harpeth's defense will have to be tougher, and the posts will definitely have to step up more.

  11. I'd take a team over one individual any day. However, Harpeth has more than one threat. Richardson is taking more shots than anybody on the team for them right now, and Flippo has the ability to score. But they are definetly not playing as a team. As I mentioned, Richardson is taking tons of shots, this is not based on whether she is making them or not, she is just shooting. Seems like every time Mendenhall scores Richardson tries to shoot when she touches it until she can score too. If she would learn to play with her team and not compete against the others on it, this Harpeth team would be much more dangerous, and she would probably find that she would be a better player as well.

I couldn't have said it better!

  12. I maybe the typical Sycamore fan, what is wrong with that. I do not recall downing individual members of your team, if you would like me to just let me know. I started by asking this year's rankings not comparision to last year. I believe it was Harpeth fans that started the "last year chant".

"well I'm not saying the season is going to go this way just b/c there has only been 4 days of practice but they did play like crap at the play day but that really doesnt say much b/c we haven't done all that great in play days in the past but this team does have some weaknesses and i will give u that" quote from k-town

Word on the street is that internal problems played a factor is this true?

As for last years scrimmages I believe it was posted that Harpeth went undefeated last year and blew out Marshall Co. 100 something to 20 something.

Finally, if you had won or played decent you would have been talking out the other side of your mouth. I'll say it will get worse before it gets better (several years down the road)

I can't wait till Dec. 8th, I think you will be talking out of the other side of your mouth!!

  13. So how did the play day go, I'm going to say you were probably surprised or maybe I should say disappointed. As the season progresses I think you will change your mind on how the district teams are truely ranked.

You are so the "typical Sycamore fan". District ranking doesn't mean a thing and neither does the title district champs from last year. It's a new year, and not the same teams. Who had the best record? As far as Harpeth's play day went, the team showed a lot of promise. It was the most unorganized day of games I have ever seen, with refs training, etc., I don't think you could really call them true games, and win/loss meant nothing. With only five days of practice with a new coach, new plays to learn, etc. the team is still trying to find themselves, and they will find their game. I'd like to see them play these teams again in a real game with real refs. I think the outcome would've been different. But again, it was more a less a day of learning what needs to be worked on, so it served its purpose. As far as your downing individual team members, why don't you grow up, and at least act like a mature adult, or are you?

  14. Of course you were. Hard to do that when you don't even know which one is Brison. IMO, if you want a MVP that puts up big #'s night in/out in the scoring column you have to go with Haroeth's Mendenhall. If you want someone who makes her team better every moment she is on the floor, you have to look at Lawson (CC), Ensminger (Harpeth), Petty (CW) or Brison (Fairview). It comes down to what you think a MVP should be.

I think Mendenhall also adds a lot to the team when she is on the floor. She and Ensminger are quite a pair, and play very well together. And Mendenhall's scoring numbers are not always as high as you say but her rebounds, assists, and steals/blocks make up for it when her ppg are down. She really is a solid, well rounded player.

  15. Way to go Lady Lions!! Big win!!!

I wouldn't really call 2 points a big win. I think the refs finally beat harpeth. The way they have called harpeth's games all season long, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I thought they played a great game, defense especially, and if a few more shots would have fallen for the usual scoring players, the outcome most certainy would have been different. But.....that's why its called a game!!!

  16. i wouldn't talk. Mendenhall has been a one man team since the fourth grade. i saw

her play, and she did it herself. Now since she actually has players that are "good"

surrounding her she doesn't know what to do. Ellis was a very good player as well and i enjoyed watching her play, i still do. if you don't know much about certain people i wouldn't be talking crap about them

Besides allstar23 isn't nikki you bone heads

Shawna is an awesome player, she is now a post when she used to be a gaurd, could you have made that change as well as she, i don't think so.

Shawna surprises me sometimes because she gets mad at her self for screwing up but then still plays well, and i've seen her play through pain so that injury won't be a problem unless E.D. realizes it bothers her(which it doesn't)

So you need to address the fact that most of you don't know what you're talking about because you don't even know these people

so take your foot out of your mouth and do a little research before you post something on the internet that you don't know for sure

Maybe you should take your own advice, sycamore standby!!!! Have you even seen Mendenhall play since the 4th grade? Maybe you remember Sycamore triple-teaming her way back then. Seems to me she has quite a few assists in any given game these days. Don't think one-man teams can do that. I think she knows what to do just fine. You wanna talk about one-man team then maybe you should look a little further on the roster. As far as Nikki goes, I think she's a great player, and wouldn't put her down at all. Regarding her sister, don't know much about her so sure wouldn't offer an opinion one way or the other. Do you really know the people you are talking about? I'm beginning to wonder.
