There sure is a dearth of info on the team.  No reports on any of the preseason scrimmages on this board. School website has not posted a roster for the season yet.  Vidette had no mention of the team all spring or summer until a small blurb in last week’s edition about the upcoming RBS scrimmage and a brief interview with BSatt.  Seems like interest really waned before last season when fans knew the talent was dipping and the team headed downhill.

Thanks for the reply. I am old school; I played for Jim B, and I hate to see what is happening. Other teams used to respect/fear the Creekbank, but I think a lot of that respect was lost last year. However, I am not giving up. I think things look better this year. I hope we are on the road to recovery.

  2. Is the lack of interest in Trousdale County football on Coacht symbolic of the Trousdale County football program today? I hope not, but I am concerned about the lack of interest on here. We used to have lots of pages of posts on Coacht, and our topics were on the first page of Class 1A/2A. Have we given up after a 2-9 season?

I was beginning to think/hope things were getting better when I heard we have 38 players on the roster this year instead of low 20s like last year, Atwood is coming back, and the middle school program is improving. Are we on our way back or am I just wishful thinking?

I picked Meigs by 3 points - late FG

Your prediction is much more reasonable than the “some of these posters” I referenced above. It may come down to a field goal as you predicted. However, if it does, I hope you are wrong on who kicks the winning field goal.
We have a kicker who can kick a short field goal. Go Jackets!!!

Sonny calculated Clinton as a 1-0 win for Meigs, and also Cosby as a 1-0 win. Don't get me wrong I expect a close contested game. But going by polls is a mistake.

I was hoping I could count on Sonny for a 1-point victory, but if he didn’t adjust his computer for Covid forfeits, you took my 1-point victory away from me.

  5. According to Sonny Moore’s computer power ratings, and including the two points he adds to the home team’s power rating, TC is favored to win by 0.14 points. Since there are no fraction points in a football game, if we round up, TC wins by 1 point. Does Sonny’s computer know something that some of these posters (who are picking Meigs to win by as much as 2 TDS or more) don’t know? I hope Sonny’s computer is smarter than they are. Go Jackets!!!

I'm just saying Meigs would have beaten Bledsoe by at least 28, and Trousdale had a tight game with them. What does that mean? Probably nothing, but I think Meigs wins by at least 14, only because it's in Trousdale, if in Meigs if say by 21.

Based on a lot of these predictions, it looks like poor TC doesn’t have a chance. However, I am still going to listen to the game and watch it (streaming) and hope for a miracle. Go Jackets!

I’ve reached out to both but finding time between work and family to go and search the info is scarce. Mrs. MVP keeps this dude business with home projects quite often. But yes if you happen to have any of these years and could send a picture my way, I’d greatly appreciate it. If I can ever get the whole landscape put together, I plan to turn my file over to the board of education so the can put it to their website.

I have yearbooks from 53 to 64 which I think will include the football schedules and scores for each season (during previous year - e.g., 53 yearbook will hopefully include the 52 season schedule and results).

I think you can tell John Oliver the years for the yearbooks you want to see, and he can tell you if he has them. I assume he would let you or someone else come and make copies of the pages with the schedules.

Mark Presley has lots of Trousdale County/Hartsville pictures, but I don't know if he actually has the sources of his pictures (e.g., yearbooks) or if he just borrows or gets the pictures from the people who have the yearbooks.

Cheese has the info however i think most is in pen and paper. I’ve got him sending me this years stuff but wish I’d done with prior and I’m putting it into the computer. I know you have a program now as well that will save it.

Going back and gathering this data would be a full time job. Maybe one day. My focus has been on team records and opponents for every season as a start. That’s been a goose chance in itself. TC started a program in 1909 and these are the years I’m missing info on. If you have a yearbook from any of these years that contains a schedule and scores, I’d love for you to hit me up. If the year isn’t listed, I have got the info already. Player stats will be an even bigger challenge. image.thumb.jpeg.a4a16648ffb1a34ad7060846734f79b8.jpeg

I think I can probably help you with several years. I will check my old yearbooks. Have you checked with John Oliver? He collects old yearbooks for the Trousdale County Historical Society. Tommy Rush has a lot of TCHS history too.

I'm going to say Meigs by 14 at the end. My biggest question for TC is how was the Gordonsville game so close?

The Watertown-Gordonsville game was even a little closer. I don't know why two of the best 2A teams in the state, Trousdale County and Watertown beat Gordonsville by only 8 points and 7 points respectively. Why did TC lose two of its first three games, especially the loss to Friendship Christian in the season opener? Maybe it was because it was fairly early in the season with no opportunity to scrimmage before the season, injuries of key players, etc. had something to do with their play in the early part of the season. In any case, a lot has happened since the Gordonsville game. If the TC-Gordonsville game was replayed today, do you think it would still be an 8-point game? Would Watertown beat Gordonsville by only 7 points today. Is the TC team that played Watertown (one of the top 2A teams in the state) the same team that lost to them in the third game of the season? It makes a difference when you don't have turnovers and penalties that can kill you, especially early in the season. I hope I helped answer your biggest question.

Someone mentioned it so it made me wonder. If you were to set a spread for the game Friday, what would your spread be for the game be? How many points and in favor of who?

I think I would have to say Watertown -3 because of the simple fact that they are at home. From what I have heard, the fan representation might not exactly reflect that come Friday!

Here's how Sonny Moore rates the two teams.

Watertown 46th in the state and Trousdale County 57th in the state.

The first three columns below represent each team's record (W, L, T). I don't know why there is a column for ties. The fourth and fifth  columns represent Sonny's Strength of Schedule and Power Rating respectively.

    46 Watertown                             11  1  0   105.41    133.19

    57 Trousdale County                 10  2  0   108.18    129.30

Sonny says to add two points to the home team's power rating. When we do that, Watertown's Power Rating is 135.19 (i.e., 133.19 + 2 = 135.19). Based on Sonny's ratings that gives Watertown a 5.89 point advantage (135.19 - 129.3 = 5.89).

The only problem with Sonny's computer power rating is that he does not have a factor to estimate the power of the sting of healthy, determined Yellow Jackets. I would say that is at least 10 points, and that gives the Yellow Jackets a 4.11 point advantage. Therefore, TC wins by a field goal.

Thanks for the info. I have tried them before, and I couldn't sync their stream with Jerry Richmond's play-by-play. If I can't get them in sync, I'd rather listen to Jerry, Cameron, and Bill than watch it online without them. I guess I am old-fashioned. Thanks again for the link.

For those that can’t make it tonight, tune into 93.5 fm 1090 am or the FunRadioTN app! Pregame set for 6:30ct and Kickoff at 7ct. Thanks and Go Jackets!

Do yo know if the game will be streamed? Hope I can stream and sync with you guys. I will be listening to Funradio either way.

Not sure yet, I will inform when I get to the field. I would guess it would be pretty close to in sync since both are streaming platforms, the delays should matchup pretty close

Thanks. I don’t want to miss y’all’s broadcast. I have bought some subscriptions to see TC in the Playoffs, and I was very disappointed when they were two or three plays out of sync with the WTNK broadcast. You and Jerry do a great job, and I don’t want to miss y’all even if the game is streamed. I hope the matchup is close.

The game will be streamed live at 7:30 on tc schools website, Facebook, and twitter, and of course if you can’t watch or make it, we will bring it to you at 93.5 fm 1090 am and the FunRadioTN app! Thanks and Go Jackets!

Will the WTNK crew be doing the announcing on the live streaming? If not, will the WTNK broadcast and the live streaming be in sync?

  15. Fifty-six years ago tonight, on the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated, the Yellow Jackets won their eleventh game and finished the season 11-0. We didn't have classifications and playoffs back then. Defense was our trademark back then (we had 26 points scored against us in 11 games), and it still is today. Although Watertown has a good team, and will be a worthy opponent, I think the Jackets' defense will show up again tonight and will be a key factor in TC winning this game.

I look forward to watching the Jackets win their eleventh game again tonight. Go Jackets!!!!

  16. Just bought a subscription to watch TC play online in rounds 3, 4, and 5 of the playoffs. However, I will try to listen to Jerry and Cameron while watching the game on TV - hope they are not too far out of sync. Nobody can say "Touchdown Yellow Jackets" like Jerry Richmond. If you are looking for a good radio broadcast of the game, I highly recommend  Jerry and Cameron (TCRadio) on funradiotn.com.

  17. TC and H20 have played four common opponents. TC has scored an average of 4.5 points more than H2O against each opponent and they have allowed an average of 2.5 points less against each opponent. Therefore, using these numbers with my fool-proof methodology, TC wins by 6.75 points (i.e., 6 or 7 points).

*Key Assumption: Both TC and H2O substituted down proportionally in the games they won by BIG margins.

    Go Yellow Jackets!!!
