Jo Byrns will be back again next year. The cupboard is not bare at all; we only lose 6 seniors. I believe JB will have 9 Seniors & 13 Juniors next year; the next couple of years look promising for the Devils. The biggest issues for JB will be replacing 3 linemen and a Mr. Football candidate. We'll be bigger up front but we'll have to wait and see if we'll be better. As for replacing the Mr. Football candidate...well you don't really replace a player like that. We'll have #34 (Bolt) coming back for his senior year; he was hurt for most of the year and didn't really make the kind of impact he wanted to so I'm sure he'll be determined as ever. As a sophomore he split time with LK and rushed for about 850 yards. We'll also have #1 Frankie Traughber, a Junior next year, who is an absolute game changer. He rushed for around 525 yards on just 43 carries this year and had another 300+ yards receiving. It'll be interesting to see how these two do when they are the focus of the defense and not LK. It'll be here before you know it!

 

What does everyone else think? mascot, 34, 36, 44, 88, Shep, logger...

This year Frank ( the tank ) will pick up right where Ashabraner left off, #1 gonna leave a trail of victems, The TANK is coming !

Jo Byrns pounds WC in a physical game 28-14

physical is right but i think it may be the other way . I dont see jb being more physical than wc.

The chat has been pretty respectful all week and for us adults its all in fun and cheering on our teams, thats what games like this is for, all the hype and dreadfully someone is done tonight, folks I gotta tell ya JB is loaded with team speed, from the line to the backs and skill players and I think this is what will win the game, but when its all said and done I am a fan of all the young men who strap it up every fri nt, its been many years but I can still recall the feeling I got before the game as Im sure many of you do, so lets all wish each and everyone of these boys good luck, c ya there, GO RED DEVILS !!!

Well guys and girls 2day is the day, I jus come by the Dungeon and man im telling ya there is one real mean storm front headed south, the rolling thunder is on the way ! Go RED DEVILS !!!!

It's not Y'all... I'm not from C'wood... But I do appreciate you proving my point that WC has played NO ONE!!...C'wood lost five games!!..but I do give them credit for playing some good competition this year and not just trying to pad the win column against weak opponents like WC did...You have one more day to talk about your great undefeated season...enjoy it!!!

 

You and sssssss just can't stand it that WC is good, and as far as us not being good 11-0....undefeated buddy . If WC has played no one than how come WC has played more teams with a .500 or better recored than JB has (not down gradeing JB, THEIR GOOD, I think BOTH WC and JB have really good teams and some outstanding atheletes.) Also, if C'wood played good cometition (which they did). Then its pretty funny that WC beat the worse than any of the other teams. That's also a little fun fact for you to sssssss . Go Cats.

Joe Byrnes is a better team than last year? Your joking. I have been reading in my Murphy Fair book about this team and this Ashabraner boy looks like he is a real good boy that is big and strong. Let me ask you a question. Someone told me that this boy runs a real fast 50 yard dash. Is this true? Is he a real strong boy that plays real strong too? I think Joe Byrnes will win this game because I have been reading about Wayne County and I do not think they are as good as Joe Byrnes.

Roy this boy is addicted to his training and lifting, u bet he is strong and fast ! and he is still lifting and training as the season goes on 4 times a wk, he"s a "machine" thats why he is a step above everyone else

OK here we go, 2 of the best teams in 2A, duking it out on the creekbank. These are the games TC looks forward too. Ain't nothing like whippin'em private school yuppies. Can TC stop Maasen again? He shoulda been a Mr. Football candidate imo. Will TC bring back the throwback jerseys again? Guess we'll have to wait till FryDay and Seay.

JB is a very good team that is well coached. They whipped us like we stold something from them , TRUE. Perry Co. looked bad but Tucker is everything to this team I make no excuses JB would have beat us probably any way. He is leading tackler on our team and the whole Mid State. Not to mention are QB . Good Luck to JB but I will be pulling for WC only because they are in our region and our neighbor.

There is something I want to mention about the Tucker kid, even after being dealt a game ending injury and the Vikings defeat I was on the field after the game and I notice that he had a couple of our players chating with them away from every one else, that moment will stick with me as I brought it to attention to one of my buddies, and they talked maybe a minute or two, The point is that a young man at this age was dealt adversity and he overcame it with humongous character, That really sticks out at me with one of the high points of the game ! I would like to say this young man one day will be very special, because he is already a leader and being humble doing it ! I will be keeping an eye on this young man in the future. Good luck to the Vikings and Jacob Tucker ! Lots of adults could learn something from you !

I did, that's how it told me to go. Granted, you will run into some traffic in Nashville, depending on what time of day you go thru, but there shouldn't be much going IN to Nashville. It's when you try to go THRU that you'll hit the traffic. You can avoid most of that by getting on Briley Pkwy, and then hitting 24 from there.

We come down las wk and watched you guys ply, we cm dwn on 13 and traveled back on 40 and 40 was alot better and a little faster, but lk the man said once you get in nashville pick up briley over to 24 and you miss alot of traffic, all you Vikings be safe in your travels and we will will do our best to host you all, look foward to meeting some of yall

Its a huge honor to be selected as a finalist and it being a team sport is a reflection of some great efforts by those guys teamates, congrats to all ! LK has spilled his guts for his team and his buddies, this young man started lifting the day after the st game last year and has still yet to let up, you talk about a young man with work ethic beyond the HS level, personal trainer through the summer all the pre season conditioning, he is a prime example what a college coach is looking for, he will do whatever it takes to get better and those around him, so my nod is to #44 from JB

I know Jo Byrns has a dominate running game, but how is yalls passing attack? I know yall will obviously come out and try to establish the running game and pound it all game long but I was just wondering.

Not bragging but we havent had to use some of the other playmakers as much, we also have a soph qb who is very capable of making big plays along with #34 #1 #17 and of coarse as everyone shud Know by now #44, have a safe trip up and you wont soon forget the rolling thunder before the boys hit the field

I think PC will win this game and I was completely shocked when C'ville won the first time. It will be interesting to see how it turns out this time around. PC can't stop the run with that big, strong & fast line that they have and this could be a problem for PC in this game. If not this game the next one with JB could be ugly trying to stop the run game.

NA ! we are over rated as usual, no run game, cant pass, no defence, just plain weak dont know how we even made the playoffs !

East 42 H2o 13 sorry fellows thats my call. East is very physical with good size and with playmakers, Im sure I will get hammered for this but, east will beat FC also 27-20 and face TC no pred on this one yet

I understand it's early folks, but don't under-estimate Cascade. I've watched some of the conditioning recently to see where we are and was very impressed! Kids like Matt Henderson have trimmed up (20 lbs) and added muscle over the summer. Look for him to see 20 or more carries and contend for all-state honors. Other kids who haven't played since middle school have come on board for this season. Cascade is going to be a handful this year!!

Well the red devils started practice Monday and I'm feelin pretty good ab our teamthis year got great depth at running back and a defensive lone that can run circles around most offensive tackles! I just want to know what everyone thinks ab the upcoming season for 1 a

The boys aint looking to bad but still alot of work to b done, that 1st gm wit Cascade should be a bigun for both, the Devils got the speed thats for sure & loaded with skill guys, guess time will tell

You have a very talented son and he is surrounded by great players and Coaches.He gave the Yellow Jackets all they wanted and then some I can only imagine what great things wait in front of him.

hopefully my intuition is correct, but I think we may meet again this year in the playoffs, the CATS got some good stuff coming back also,well I dont know bout always but for the next 3 years if we can find lineman to step up, tallent wise the DEVILS are loaded

When I was playing ball if you played Jo Byrns you were in for a treat. If I am not mistaken they were ranked last in 2A football at that time.

 

I am sure that coaches have changed but, what else has? How did you guys get everyone to buy in? Curious, because you guys are some of the best year in and out now.

IMO I think competing with the privates and taking beatings week after wk. taught players and staff what it really takes to be competitive, plus having some pretty tallented FB players come thru didnt hurt either. There is a pretty good group of boys in the program now that breathes nothing but FB
