1. While it's my personal opinion that having three (3) divisions (D1 large school, D1 small school & D2) for Tennessee wrestling is way over the top, has anyone thought outside the box of their local school? Why not contact Dan Gable, Tom Brands, Cael Sanderson, John Smith, USA Wrestling ,etc... and ask them what their opinion on the topic would be. Is this a possibility or is everyone in Tennessee to intelligent & have too much pride to ask for the opinion of some of the top wrestling experts in the USA.

If the small school division has 8 regions and only the champion advances to the state tournament watch the crying when the 1st undefeated wrestler is upset and forced to watch the state tournament from the bleachers.

I just got off the phone with Dan Gable. He said don't split the D1 state tournament.

  2. That is correct! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> It was a close match but I remember Treloar controling the match.

I'm a big fan of Cole and his brother, so I wouldn't put it out there unless it was true.

It was an early in the season Tourney!

i think you're mistaken about that match

  3. yes i am preety sure you should look around region 9 did very well condidering how Awrestler medaled 1st place and im sure your probleY with d2 paid school right or bradley with 10000 students wrestlings not huge in region 9 high schools no huge teams like bradley or clev, so think about that but im pretty sure your talking about a region who actually got medals did you or your son or are you AND HE A SPECTATOR. CAUSE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE IT

    speak english please

  4. I was not present...so I will be forced to rely on the media and hear-say.... But I was led to believe that a freshman CAK wrestler beat a senior Webb wrestler??? I also was told that Webb's Campbell was defeated as well.?? Maybe Webb should have done more to keep a good coach.

you're pathetic. you're probably some 40 year old dad and you're calling out an 18 year old high school senior and a coach who's working hard to build a program. do you have anything else to do? these boards are usually kept to actual wrestlers and fans, but i guess i was wrong.

  5. pinkstaff was asked to leave webb in 4th grade cause apparently he kept bullying kids around. not sure how relevant that is to the original question of whether or not he is going to baylor. and pinkstaff's dad wasnt the coach of webb when he was asked to leave so whoever said that earlier is just an idiot. also, i doubt pinkie is going to baylor cause his dad is one of the coaches of cak along with candela. also, its not like baylor is going to do much difference for him. obviously, pinkie has been getting along just fine on his own because he's been going to national tournaments since the age of about 6 and been doing pretty well in all of them. not to mention he can probably bench press about 245 by now.

on another note, people seem to be bashing webb or knoxville wrestling in general but the fact of the matter is that webb is one of the few schools in knoxville that actually make a point to wrestle in some of the tougher tournaments in tennessee instead of sticking around knoxville and wrestling just themselves and then getting rocked in the state tournament. i am not associated to webb but just able to open my eyes a little bit and see what's going on with knoxville wrestling.

and on that note, frankly i dont see why we have 14+ pages on whether a kid in 8th grade whos preoccupied aol instant messaging and working on his myspace is going to either cak or baylor. we all need to get back to our jobs, wife, kids, etc and let this kid whos probably had his grades drop by a letter grade by now cause of how much he's been reading this get back to focusing on doing homework, getting girls numbers, and wrestling for fun. or in otherwise, just being a normal 8th grader.

on that note, i'm going to go do some homework.

    get over yourselves.

  6. QUOTE(Wrestler1231 @ Feb 21 2007 - 10:23 PM) 826383654So do freestyle teams go by each school like folkstyle or can kids go to another school if they wanted to wrestle for them?

Example , if im going to Bolton and was wrestling freestyle could i wrestle freestyle for Cordova?

yes. tssaa has no affiliation with any wrestling going on right now regarding freestyle/greco so you can wrestle where ever you want to

  7. QUOTE(rubix3 @ Feb 21 2007 - 03:49 PM) 826383098what about in the chattanooga area, whats available for freestyle wrestling for high schoolers?

if you are from chattanooga, you have the easiest access to freestyle. baylor and soddy wrestle freestyle together so you could link up with them

  8. so i know this is early but junior olympics are in knoxville this year. i think it would be nice to have team tennessee that goes to oklahoma and fargo to also participate in the junior olympics. this could be a little much though cause fargo is july 20-26 and weigh ins/registration for the junior olympics is on july 29. anyone else planning on fielding a team? this would be a great place to showcase tennessee wrestling

  9. QUOTE(hrdcrwrestler @ Feb 19 2007 - 03:45 PM) 826379423CAK or PRAETORIAN out of Knoxville off Cedar Bluff.

Praetorian isnt a school its just a group of good wrestlers. the majority of those wrestlers wont go to CAK and some arent even from knoxville. CAK though does have somewhat of a good feeder with praetorian and they will rise

  10. I would just like to give a few toasts out to some people

To all the state champions- to the ones that we thought for sure were going to win Kelly Felix, John Michael Simpson, Dan Waddell, Josh Baucke, Will Young, and to the ones that surprised us all- Jeremy Miller, Mike Bell, Dean Pavlou. Not to mention Josh Baucke and Ulric Weinsburg.

To all the guys that had they're hearts broken- Caleb Myers, Jason McCrosky, Courtney Coffee, Zach Goss, McClain Still, Tanner Winthrow. just remember that all of yall are great wrestlers and that it is the process and the amount of work you put in to being a great wrestler is what makes you who you are. not what medal is hung around your neck.

To my all-upset team- Jeremy Miller, David Graham, Danny Pappas, Wylie Davis, Jake Young. each one of you beat the number one seed early on so good job making the tournament interesting.

To my 3-timers- Kelly Felix, Bailey Whitaker, Ben Johnson, Will Young. unbelievable, Bailey good luck going for your 4th next year.

To the senior class- oh man i dont know where to begin because there are so many great ones- Hunter Randolph, Jay Adamson, Demetrious Johnson, Tanner Johnson, Tanner Winthrow, Ulric, McCroskey, Felix, Spain, Toney, Abrigo, Creagan, Wright, Roberson, Hall, Coffee, Lettner, Frankie, Reveiz, Simpson, Johnson, both Youngs, Bell, Goss, Baucke, Doster, Waddell, Batemen, Williams. Those rising seniors have some big holes to fill. Yall have blessed us with wonderful wrestling and wonderful people.

To the Future- with guy like Alex Manley, TJ Duncan, Josh Baucke, Jeremy Miller, Tee Boone, David Graham, Mark Simpson, Jeff Francis, and Justin Cash all havin 3 or 4 more years, I know that Tennessee wrestling is on the rise. not to mention all the other 8th graders this year that will be coming next year ready to wrestle. The Future is bright

it has been a great season. let's give out some toast, and lets eat

I'll throw in another name. My vote for MOW would go to Nathan Bevelhimer (Bearden) who finished 6th at 160. Why?? Because he's my son and he wrestled his guts out. One OT win and another win with a takedown in the last 3 secs. Congrats to all the wrestlers for their accomplishments and for putting on a great show.

i'm really glad he got to place at state. junior's been doin a really nice job over there and its starting to pay off. congrats bulldog dad, now go take him to a buffet (j hear mr. gattis is pretty good)

  12. QUOTE(my2cents @ Feb 17 2007 - 10:48 AM) 826375900

I took a lot of pictures of that match from the other end of the arena, I just got home and downloaded them and sure enough that was his dad out on the mat with him. While taking the pictures zooming in I thought it was one of his coaches coming to see if he was alright because they did stop the match for a moment because he must have been bleeding. As a casual observer of the tournament I guess you could say he was checking to see if he was hurt or to console him. Congrats to the kid from Soddy, did I hear correctly he was 52-0 this year going into that match?

what wrestler are you talking about?

and tj duncan did not get beat out baylor. its baylor's policy that if they already have a wrestler in a weight class then they wont let an eight grader wrestle off for that weight. so he was not given the opportunity to wrestle off whitaker or stavrum. and he impersonated digging a hole in the mat. dropped his red headgear in it. acted like he was covering dirt over the hole. and then walked off.

  13. D1

112- Tee Boone vs. Hunter Randolph

119- Jay Adamson vs. Demtrious Johnson

135- Ulric Winesburgh vs. Ryan Konz

215- Courtney Coffee vs. Matt Lettner/Frankie Morgan

103- Alex Manley vs. Daniel Baucke/Mark Simpson

Yea, I never thought I would see Manley, Simpson, Silberman, and Baucke all on the 103 podium. It seems like there are about 6 families that account for the majority of the titles in D2 every year, haha.

haha wow that would be a site to see. all we're missing in there is a dunning
