I am from THS and i have to say that both teams were playing rough but it was uncalled for when Wes Baker kicked Jeff in the side of the head. That is terrible sportsmanship. Jeff only grabbed his ankle because Wes purposely fouled him on a lay-up. I mean if youre going to lose your cool then scream or something but dont try to harm another player. That is insane. There should have only been one T during that confrontation and it was delivered to the right person. end of story

Maybe you guys should watch the video. Wes was kicked in the crotch and then his ankle was grabbed by Baker. Thats what led to Wes kicking Baker. In no way would Wes purposely foul. Wes is a great shot blocker and blocked that shot as well.

That’s true…they did drop a couple of close ones. But in all fairness they didn’t get beat by a 7-15 South team nor did they get spanked by Central by 20 points. It’s obvious that winning JV games is not as important to most as it is to DB. Here’s another Cap1 “cold hard fact” for ya…Playing JV as a junior is sometimes a signal that you may want to find another sport to play next year…if you know what I mean.

Central would have beaten Science Hill by about 20 had it not been for Omar's garbage points.

I don't know how accurate this statement is, but I wouldn't put that past a player from Central... if you recall there was an uproar where a player allegedly called a kid from Red Bank the "N" word during the Double Tree Roundball at the Palace... fyi...just because the tape doesn't show it, doesn't mean it didn't happen prior to the video... IF someone did call Wattad a {EXPLITIVE} he should be glad that Omar chose to walk away instead of confront him. Besides the Central video "CLIP" what evidence do you have of Wattad being "classless?"

None of that is true, obviously you were out of town to see the game. You must have missed Omar trying his best not to shake our players hands after we handed it to him at Districts. Or maybe when Omar let Phillip Weatherford have it right at the final seconds? We aren't just throwing these things out of thin air. I really want to root for him because he is around here and going to Georgetown, but we've beaten him the past 2 out of 3 times. And everytime he's been a jerk.

How much you wanna' bet. Morgan takes this same group next year and they strugle to beat anybody the first half of the season.

The team is juniors, unlike any other JV team. And DB is playing the best ball in the conference. Stop hating on Morgan.

I think the main problem with the Hill Toppers is that the coach has yet to relay to the players what their role is to the team and who the major role players are. And to his defense he has such a young and talented team that (knowing the attitudes of some of the players and their parents) he doesn’t want to discourage any single one and drive them away from the game. There are so many egos on that team its ridicules. If I were Cutlip…I would take a short ride down the Bristol Hwy. and ask advice from the master of handling egos (Johnson City egos to be exact)…….George Pitts!! To me (form the outside looking in) it looks like Cutlip is trying so hard to juggle his players and his coaches that he can’t truly concentrate on his opponent.

Good post Cap. But I also think we are overestimating their talent. Central played a 2-3, and no one could step up and knock a shot down.

I know this is a roundball thread but I figure many Central fans are viewing. I wanted to extend congratulations to Michael Crowder for the decision to play at Princeton. I read the article about him on Tricitiessports.com and sounds like he is a well rounded kid with the potential to let his football carry him to great things.

Michael Crowder is a great kid. There is probably not one person at Central who can say a bad thing about him.

Maybe the question should of been "Who has the best JV Team in the Big 9, not counting DB"

Or maybe,"Who has the Best JV Team in the Big 9 who's school begins with a "C" and the school colors are orange & white"

In no way did imply that. Central's JV has a lot of players that will be major contributors next year, but they are not very deep that all. I've watched a couple and it seems like East has a pretty good JV.

This has been bothering me all year... I wish someone could give me Cutlips coaching strategy.... bc all i see happening is a whole lot of yelling and no coaching going on...the way his pulls players if they miss a shot might work if you have 15 Wiggins, wattads, and throps sitting on your bench... but you just dont have that.... not to mention during timeouts he sits there and huddles with the other coachs the majority of the time and does not even talk to the team ...I dont see morgan or duncan yelling the WHOLE entire game or having a coachs conference during the time out ....i feel its pretty evident that science hill has the most talent in the area and if morgan or duncan had that team then they would not LOSE to teams like central.... after friday nights game it leaves me wondering is it time for a new coach????????

Well, heatplaya (Omar), I had a feeling you might post saying this. Considering we could tell by your facial expressions about his coaching. But I can see what your saying. I have never really been too impressed with Cutlip, but everyone wants to put him on some pedestal.

But you talk like Central is so much worse than Science Hill. Tell me one person besides Omar who can knock down a 3? Tell me one person who can stop Andrew McCann in the post? Besides a ref calling a ridiculous technical.

  9. Your right, and I didn't say that. Im judging the talent at DB from the first time I saw them all the way up to now. This group as freshman were beating teams by 40, 50 points. Now as seniors and playing under Charlie Morgan, their losing to pretty much the same teams. I have come to the conclusion that there is enough talent in upper east tn. for someone to compete on the state level in any given sport every year. The problem is, no good coaches. Can anyone name a active coach in in Northeast Tn. that can compete on the state level. Im talking about the big three, Football, Basketball, Baseball.

Well, you have to think. All of Science Hill's freshman were starting on Varsity. They were really the only team in the Big 9 that had any talent that I can think of. I didn't see much Big 9 freshman games because of Central still being in the Wautaga.

On the coaching note, Vaughn is a pretty smart coach. He outcoached everyone last year. We won District with a 6'0 post player.

  10. My problem with Morgan...... I have watched this group of players from the 7th. grade up. They are a great group. The best group at DB since the early 90's. Not just me, but everybody thought they would rule this area this year. Theres not a team that they have played this year that they should of lost to. This team should of at least went to state last year. But I'll give him a pass on that one. Not this year though. He has all but destroyed this team. Oh sure, they'll be a little better now with Sensabaugh back, but this group is much more than a one man team. Keep in mind, there are no good teams in this area.

You can't judge a team on how they played as 7th graders. Some kids mature earlier than others. Obviously, you didn't get out much because Science Hill had some pretty awesome teams at that age as well with Wattad, Reid, and Collie. Those teams of the early 90's would kill this team coach or no coach.
