  1. QUOTE(CoachSH @ Mar 28 2007 - 08:32 PM) 826425190[/snapback]yeah,

Bud is a great guy and knows the game. I got to know him through my dad when they were coaching and was a youngnn. Bud was always great to me and my father even though we were at different schools. Good Luck to Coach White and the dogs... Maybe they can get some fresh new excitment about this great game of Basketball......

CoachSH, How are things going up on the mountain?

  2. L.T. told me personally that he was offered the job and that he turned it down. Also you are saying that Ned did such a wonderful job but his team only won 3 conference games, and not so long ago cloudland had tremendous talent but not so much discipline(RT,MB,CC,AS,CJ ZC,ect) and all the people from the mountain was calling for his resignation.Sometimes things just don't turn out the way you want them to.Plus Hampton had avery young team this year.Playing with almost J.V. team at cosby they made me very proud of them. Played veryhard and never gave up,despite the fact that in much of the game they were playing 3sophomores and 2jr's.next year should be much better. Does anyone remember RT. deciding not to go in the game in the regional semifinals.CHS lost to a much less talented Hancock team that night.Don't kill your coach just yet he may turn out to be just as good and have as much descipline as Ned some day.

    good point

  3. PTSportsWriter, do you the stats for this game it was unreal how well Cosby shot the basketball. Hampton didn't shoot too bad either, but Cosby was on fire especially 44 and 23. Congrats to the Eagles they played well, and I don't believe any team in single A in TN could have beat them tonight because of the way they shot the ball. Good job to the dogs, you all never quit...just sorry it ended when it did. Still proud to be a bulldog...always have been and always will be.

  4. I'll go with H-town34 and say we get a win tonight, and yes I say that bc it is hard for any team to beat any team 4 times in one year. We just have to go out play hard and get it done. Lord Vader, I hope these sophmores stay too they all could do something if they stick it out...just like the group of seniors (that didnt stick it out) in my class (2005) could have done. Bouncepass we all know that your upset with the way things are going, but despite all of that...the players are playing as hard as they can, and they look like they are trying to do everything it takes to win. I think the real problem is...Most of the players on the team don't go to the gym and shoot. If you want to be good you have to work hard at it, and part of that is going to the gym and shooting everyday. I mean, I'm sure you are aware of all of that, but to me it's the biggest problem we have.

  5. Well you are gonna to get different views on the game bc some people were Hampton fans and some were Unicoi fans. So with that said the way I saw it was the refs were bad both ways, but I do not think they decided the outcome of the game. They called a ton of fouls on both teams, one of our players (John Lyons #10) had 4 in the 2nd quarter, he got the dogs off to a good start because of his intensity. Ike and Colton got their 5th fouls mid-to-late fourth quarter. Unicoi had plenty of opportunities at the free throw line but did not convert. Ike probably could've had 30 something points if he woulda made his free throws. If it wasn't for Ben Hardin's three pointers Unicoi wouldn't have stayed in the game (Hardin played well). Bobby James played a great all around game and hit his free throws as Jared Irick also hit his free throws coming off the bench to help the dogs big time. Lucas Arwood did good taking the ball to the hole getting fouled and taking care of the ball. Alex Ingram also had a solid game and he hit his free throws too. Micheal Guy, Josh Ellis, and Lunceford came in and gave us some solid mins. as well as Justin Bently who had to sit out because of four early fouls. Ike was a beast in the post and played great. I thought Colton had a bad shooting night. I was really surprized with how well we ran our zone defense. So with all that said I think free throws were the difference in the game. Once again that's just my view of how the game went. And I'd like to know how many times each team went to the line and what percentage did they shoot? If anyone kept track.

  6. I like your opinion about the Cloudland game it was sloppy...we should be beating teams like Cloudland (no offense) by way more, because we are capable of it talent wise. I think you're also right about the press, during the games I watched the other team usually shot layups (the game at Unicoi, I remember well). I prefer, and I think they play better when they run man-to-man (which we have been doing more of lately) or defenses like box-and-one, triangle-and-two, or the I-zone. I just hate straight zone defense. As for my mentor...I tried talking him into that when I was graduating the 8th grade, I would have loved to have seen him come up there, but I enjoyed my four years and I'll always support Hampton no matter what. I just wish I could have done a little bit more with those 4 years. As for his status I'm unsure, but I was glad to see him at the game. I'd like to be able to help coach for a Hampton team, but I'm still a kid who loves playing right now and I gotta finish school.

To UCBlueDevils, I said "I think" which means I believe we can beat them from a fan's point of view, I didn't mean any disrespect at all, you all just finished your conference unbeaten (wow), have a loaded team, have one of the best coaches in East TN (IMO), and haven't lost to a TN team yet (26-2), so what I'm saying is you all have two games this coming week one at Hampton and one at Cloudland which are two tough places to play at, with the year you all have had noone has upset you all yet, so I was just making a guess and hoping it would come true...lol

  7. I didn't get to go to Johnson Co. to see how they did, I was wondering if they played as well as they did against Unaka. They looked pretty solid against Unaka and seemed to have worked on a few things that have been losing them close games. Looking at their record this team could finish up with a winning season or atleast at (.500). Tonight Unaka goes to Cloudland for a big game that will mix everything up. If Unaka wins they split for 1st with UH, but if Cloudland wins then UH gets sole possession of 1st its gonna be a packed house. So after this one and the Cloudland Hampton game on Friday I believe it will be anybody's guess of which one out of the four teams will come out on top in the district tournament. Coin tosses will decide seeds (which I don't agree with) but this year it doesn't really hurt anything because it will be a battle no matter who plays who between these teams.

  8. I think Patterson is the team we scrimaged, they are loaded with talent and Devon Jefferson...some say he's going pro. That is very impressive if they beat teams like Patterson. I saw Raleigh Egypt play Bolivar last year for the AA state championship and I saw alot of talent, who did they return from last year's team? "Of all the positions, the small forward spot is the one that has the most high-level talent still available. Leading the way is Davon Jefferson, the No. 6 rated player overall in the country by Unapproved Website. There are still a number of talented players at the three spot that are looking for a home at the next level." (Unapproved Website) here's the link Unapproved Website

  9. I'm not gonna get into all that stuff above, but I do know that the dogs haven't played up to their potential yet. I believe they can turn it around in the second half of the season; a win at Unaka would get them going in the right direction. I mean come on conference play hasn't even started yet so I'd give them a chance to prove themselves first. They have the talent. They have to control the ball turnovers have killed them and they need to keep key players out of foul trouble. The biggest thing they must do is finish games bc a few games they've played, they were the better team, but did not finish. I think they play hard, but people have to realize that they are a younger team than most think because only a couple have played real varsity mins. so they will make mistakes no way around it. If they find five that play well together, they can go far. Goodluck Tuesday night...Go Dogs!!! "Play hard and have fun"
