I am a McMinn Central fan but, I think this would be my predictions as well.

  2. Of the teams I'm predicting to advance to State, I think it will be an overall better group than last season. Central will have their hands full with their Substate game against a solid Grundy Co. team - who's probably a little miffed over losing the Region Championship game in overtime they know they could have just as easily won in regulation.

I would agree with that as well. I think 3 of the 4 strongest teams were on the same side of the bracket last year. (Central, Cannon, & Elizabethton) I actually thought Liberty would beat Macon but they didn't play well at all....One thing is certain, Central has had better teams that have lost and worse teams that have won at this point.

  3. Unfortunately, like many children, she's a product of the environment she's been around.....and I'll say no more on that. She has made strides toward improvement due to her seeing the results of setbacks and being around some people who care (not saying people at Central didn't care). I think the transfer has been good for her, even though the process of her maturing is still a work in progress. She's scheduled to play on a U16 AAU team we're forming in Athens, and she'll be coached by a legend, which will be good for her to play under because he won't tolerate much. Don't be surprised to see her dressed in black & gold next season, with a much improved attitude.

I agree with what someone above said, if she was on Central's team this year, I think they'd repeat as State Champs.

I hope she is back on a high school floor soon. She has a lot of potential and I really hope she can turn things around. Even if she is wearing black & gold ;)

  4. Other than Jenna, which was a big loss, you guys didn't lose that much did ya? Think the state tournamnet is going to be tough this year. Obion, Manassas or Covington, CPA, Macon County, Livingston will be tough opponents. Obion is going to be real tough for whoever. They are loaded. Lots of nice people in McMinn. Enjoyed meeting you guys the last couple of years. Talked to Johnny several times. All seem like very down to earth people. Good luck the rest of the way.

Hey Pioneer, I was about to start a post to see if you were out there to get your opinion on things. I think you give some of the most impartial commentary on the boards....Central also lost a phenomenal freshman (Guardiola) from last years team. She has transferred to another school but I am not sure if she is currently playing. She was probably the best athlete on that team last year. I think if she was still with the team, Central would have a great shot again this year. Watch out next year, Central will be very tough.

  5. I will admit this McMinn Central over achieved this year in my opinion. The play of Trentem inside has been a huge boost. This team looks for tournament ready and I am anxious for this game. This one will be a tough one.

I agree with you. I expected sub-state this year (just from the lack of good teams in the region) but, I think they will have to play their best game of the year to move on. It could go either way. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

  6. COIN TOSS.....whoever wants it more will take it and this should be a great game. The way central has played on the road, I wish it was at Sequoyah. Sequoyah has a size advantage but so did Meigs. They are not as one dimensional as Meigs and offensively I think Central will need to be balanced and take what Sequoyah gives them.

  7. In college football, so much emphasis is placed on recruiting because without talent, coaching doesn't get very far. Central has a lack of talent right now. There are some good players on the team but this isn't basketball, you need more than one star to be able to make any noise. A bad coach can look good with great players (ex: LSU) and on the flip side a good coach can look bad with bad players. Central Knights and Englewood both have really good junior teams this year.....patience grasshopper.

  8. Will central win? unlikely. Can they win? yes.... There is no doubt Central is much improved from last year. This may or may not be measured in the win/loss column. Hopefully, they find a win somewhere on the schedule this year. A win in itself, would make this team drastically better.

  9. Dry it up superman99,and don't be such a crybaby!I call it like I see it.Like I said before central has improved this year, but if they don't win this game they will probably not win any.Last year I said that they would go 0-10 and guess WHAT!

I would agree that this is probably one of the two "softest" games on the schedule for Central (if there is such a thing). So you are correct to think if they lose it, 0-10 is a real possibility. I think Central will play hard and if they lose, it will be a close game.

  10. I saw ND at the 4-way Sequoyah scrimmage (ND, Seq, Sunbright, Harriman). Out of the 4, ND was the worst. They were very small up front but had some good skill positions. They did not look to be very deep. As far as type of O, I don't recall anything that stood out so I can't say I remember. I have seen central at their 3-way scrimmage (Tellico, Copper Basin, Central) & at McMinn. From what I saw, I felt very confident Central would win this game but ND's O numbers were impressive regardless of their competition. I would think that Central should be able to run on them easily enough. my 2 cents

  11. Who will win this game?

I saw Notre Dame at the 4-way Sequoyah scrimmage and wondered if they would win a game. I have thought all along that this game would end Central's losing streak, but that is a crazy score from ND last week. Anyone have an idea or an article link from the ND game?

  12. ok getting back to the game Friday night Central 12 McMinn 10 just had to put my 2 cents in. Got to believe in our team it's a new year forget last year. GO BIG BLUE

I have to sign my name I hate hiding behind screen names

    Marc Preskitt

way to go Mr. Preskitt. I hope your right. I agree with you about the screen name thing. I wonder how many people would remove their post if they thought their name would be applied to it.

  13. I agreed with everything til playoff spot. If Goodin can get to the playoff from 0 wins last year he deserves coach of the year in my book!

It is very possible. I have seen sweetwater once and sequoyah twice. I think Central can/should beat sweetwater & meigs. They can beat sequoyah but it will be tough. Those wins would put them in the playoffs. The only other win on the schedule i see is Notre Dame.

  14. M county by 10

I would be very happy with this outcome. I am not saying Central can win or will even avoid the mercy rule this game, but I will say that that they are MUCH improved from last year. I have seen them on 3 separate occasions and if they can gain some confidence and not let their opponent determine their level of play, they can compete for a playoff spot.

  15. I believe with everything that has happened this season (first gold ball, hall of fame, etc..), Central needs to name the roundhouse floor or arena after Morgan in some way. He has earned it and is very deserving. Anyone that knows who to talk to on this, post it and lets get it going.

  16. Great post my friend. Watching it was just horrible. As usual poor officiating does affect both teams at some point in the game. Just too much inside presence with Adams and Massingal. Really like the way the other girls hit a three, make a pass or a steal. Takes a team to win championships. The "others" held on tight while the stars were on the bench. Played good enough of defense to keep the lead. I thought that Cannon County showed some inexperience down the stretch.

If the refs could have left the whistles in their pockets, I think MC would have wiped them up. When both teams starters were out there, it was clear who the dominant team was. I would expect to see Cannon back in the Boro in years to come. They were a good team.

  17. I'd probably be most surprised if Liberty won. That's not a knock on them at all, just that I'm the least knowledgeable of their team than the other three. Any of the remaining four could still win it all.......and a few times it's been a team I've least suspected that carried home the gold hardware.

    liberty definitely has size
