  1. White House lost a ton, but they usually have plenty more back.  Springfield lost perhaps the district's best player due to the Administration, but return several other key players.  Beech will still be good.  WHH so-so.  GB and Portland pulling up the rear again probably but will compete.

Taking only the District Tourney winners and runner-ups to region will only reduce the number of games, not the number of weeks, because each round is  basically played on a weekly basis. Football also takes five weeks. The NCAA takes six weeks. If you want to easily reduce it by a week then you can stop playing the sub state and only take the Region champion to the next level.

Now if you are really concerned about week reduction  you can play two rounds per week. In order for a team to win a Sate championship they  will more likely have to play three games in three days anyway.

Yeah I get it.   But, The NCAA takes 3 weeks.  or 4 if you include conference tournaments.

  3. Did anyone see the end of this game?  Springfield shooter gets fouled a FOOT behind the 3pt. line and is awarded only 2 shots as time expired. He makes 1/2 to tie and goes into OT.  The video showed he was clearly behind the line.  The official that called the foul was approached by another official and they changed the call to two shots. Sad.

  4. Just saw a highlight of a kid from Culleoka dunking.  He didn't get up really high and slammed it two-handed.  He swunk forward then back and Mr. Bigshot ref acted like the kid played tarzan and gave him a Tech.   If he lets go then he hits hard on the floor.   This ref was clueless but he wanted to show everyone in the stands who he was I guess.

Clarksville NW Girls vs. Springfield Girls:  A Springfield player steals the ball and is going for the tying layup with about 6 seconds and gets caught from behind and gets slammed into the wall and goes down with no call.  The ref obviously didn't want to hang around for OT.   Ridiculous.

Districts need to go to rotation so every schools gets a chance to host and if you forfeit your turn it should go to the next school in line. 8 team district higher seeds play at home for the first round then semis is played at one site

Exactly.  I don't know what our District is thinking.   But 7 of the schools  come from one county and they control everything according to their convenience.  The other two schools in the district are 45 minutes away.

Are district there is 8 teams and 1 and 2 seed gets a double bye so their in the region 3 and 4 get a first round bye so 6 teams are fighting for two spots to move on.    8 AA.     Go figure

Why isn't it 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 ?    Our district has 9 teams so we have an 8/9 play in then everyone plays.  But our format is stupid to not have a satellite first round.

  7.  I need responses from districts everywhere.   How does your district set up the sites?  Are your first round games at the higher seed school  i.e. (8@1, 7@2, 3 @6, 4@5) and then the rest of the tournament is at one host?

Our district does 1 and 2 host the first round so 4 and 5 will play at 1, and 3 and 6 play at 2.  Then semis, finals at one host.     This seems very bizarre to me, especially for travel purposes.

  8. This event was pretty cool.  Boys and Girls.  Set up at the Dunn Center at APSU and the attendance was great.  Pretty good basketball even though it's early.

I just hope the officiating was in its early stages also.  Players are getting tripped and pushed out of bounds and no call.  Reaches and hand-checks are called by one ref and not the others.  Just don't understand it.  Human beings I guess.  Fun starts Tuesday!

    Safety issue for fingers.

This is the same reason that some leagues I've seen, especially when I was on the military base in Korea, had players turn their shorts inside out or put tape over there pockets. I asked a ref what that was all about. He told me a year earlier a guy got his hand caught in a guys pocket and it broke his finger at the knuckle. They thought it was a freak accident until guys kept getting their fingers hung in their pockets and dislocating/breaking fingers or pulling guys shorts down. It was all inadvertent but it happened.

Now, imagine a kid with his shorts rolled and the drawstring exposed. Another kid is guarding him and just by chance another kid gets his hand or fingers caught in the drawstring. You can have a dislocation/break of a finger(s). A guy's shorts get pulled down because another guy is hung up in his drawstring.

That's all the reason that they need to continue this rule.

Individuality has no place in high school sports.

    Bless you

  10. I think the rest are improving enough and the top 3 might slip a game or two.  But, who knows.

Springfield only lost one Senior and has Senior PG and 7 Juniors returning- all who started at some point last year.

  11. So there is a huge MidTn wide petition being started for T$$AA to change the rule of rolling up shorts during games.   Almost 1500 have signed this petition.  Twitter is blowing up.  Since this is a NFHS rule, can T$$AA change it for TN?  Players and coaches are complaining that the shorts run too big for many of their players.
