  1. There is an enormous contrast between the definition of "fluke" and "upset". A fluke is a chance happening (luck) For example: When I tipped the cup of milk over, nothing spilled. Everybody knows the laws of physics and gravity says the milk will respond to pouring out onto the ground. An upset is a legitimate overturn of what is expected, but without an unlikely interference of the laws of nature. For example: Hillary Clinton won the presidential race and will be our nation's president! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> . She may not be expected to win, but the fact that she's in the race gives her the potential to win the race. When you say that Oakland's loss was a fluke, it is interpreted by anyone who is competent of the dictionary that Cookeville defied the laws of nature and beat the ungodly, unbeatable Oakland Patriots. So my friend, I'm glad you gave me the option of calling the occurance an upset, because it was nothing more than an upset. But to put "upset" and "fluke" in the same category of choices is like saying, "you can call this pit bull a cat or a dog... whatever term suits your fancy." My point: Baseball is a verrrrry mysterious game. You can go out on any given night against any given team and have your butts' handed to ya if you aren't ready to play. It's a perfect game with perfect philosophy, perfect strategy, and perfect chemistry. If all of these aren't applied by one team but all are applied for the other, anything can happen.... Gotta love the game. Not taking anything away from Oakland... congrats on the riverdale sweep /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  2. how many does he have on the year?
  3. There is no such thing as a fluke loss... translation: "excuse". you either lose because the other team outplayed you and you didn't play to your potential, or you win because you came out ready to play and beat the opponent's butt.
  4. ah, as long as fisher catches two wins against riverdale he has done his role... catching two wins against the previous district champs aint easy.
  5. congrats to oakland... can't wait till the stars beat a previously nationally ranked team /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> .... if we see them in the tourny
  6. what? number 11? are you serious? what poll?
  7. oakland will win with barnes on the hill, and riverdale will win with hurt on the hill. i see barnes pitching at oakland against utterback and i see hurt pitching at riverdale against burnett. oakland will win atleast one, and i will not be one bit surprised if they run away with the sweep. but i'm callin the split.
  8. he may have been talking about making a run in the tournament there slick.
  9. don't be surprised if they make a run to win regular season either.
  10. I hope the first thing that pops into a person's mind when they hear "church" on this forum is not "steeple". The legalism of walking in the doors of a building and calling that church because of the architectural design, the choir, and the pews is a greater shame than choosing to play baseball on a Wednesday or a Sunday. In fact, it's no shame at all to play ball on these so called "designated days of the Lord". A theme throughout the New Testament (especially Galatians) is to stay away from the legalism of Judaism and to worship the Lord wholly in everything we do. The church is the body of Christ, which consists of two or more people gathered in the name of Christ. Personally, every night I used to step foot on the field to play baseball on a Wednesday night, I knew I was gathered with atleast one member of the body of Christ to fellowship with and devote our time to playing for the Lord. I've read it a few times tonight in this forum that church was designed for the Lord to give us a couple hours to devote our time to him completely. Well, if two hours is all you're giving him all week, you are certainly not living the life you are intended to live. Colossians 3:23 says to work at everything with all your heart as if working for the Lord. Displaying our God given talents on a playing surface can be the greatest time of worship and fellowship offered to us throughout a week. Besides, lots of churches have various group studies throughout the week on days other than Sunday and Wednesday. Church can, and should, be experienced every day of the week.
  11. should be a pitchers dual.... whoever works to the pen first wins... go siegel
  12. wow where in the world did johnson come from this year... five home runs is a big deal
  13. nah... riverdale will lose four games in the district this year but not to warren county.
  14. i have been watching the brad and marcus since they were five years old. i'm excited to hear how this matchup turns out.
  15. i would recommend spelling class... but on the subject at hand, siegel will figure something out. we had the same problem two years ago with matt carlton out and we found a replacement. as for the two seniors, they will find a way to press through the pain and the stars will find a solid #2 to step up on the mound.
  16. whow easy buddy... bad blood with siegel?
  17. The stars will bounce back. Being the siegel fan I am, I hate to say it but Colby Fisher has turned into a heck of a defensive catcher. I reckon the stars will hope to see oakland in the tourny in May.
  18. I just looked at the weather and it appears the front has moved through for the most part... somebody let us know if they know otherwise.
  19. It's a beautiful day for day 1.... can i get a "hoorah"?
  20. gotta give murfreesboro coaches a lot of credit... riverdale, siegel, oakland, and blackman all have nice fields.
  21. agreed. the surprise would be anyone BUT riverdale winning this district.
  22. gosh skinner and hunter are twinkies aren't they... one hits a homerun, the other's gotta do the same.
  23. who do you think will start on the hill for columbia, and what is he like?
  24. no offense but no.... not one of your four starters throw upper eighties, much less all four of them, two being sophomores. you do understand what it means to throw in the upper eighties?
