8 aa question?? Does anyone know whom what team finished the state tournament highest? ? Looks like dekalb finished 4 th this year..
Upperman finished 3rd about 5 years ago but I really can't remember before that, something in my mind says Dekalb was runner up once but I maybe totally wrong about that
-
Umpires anywhere rarely call it unless the opposing coach calls it to their attention. I am sure the opposing coaches at the tourney read coacht...lol.
You are making my point for me about Caplinger, one 8AA program has done everything short of the Supreme Court(insert sarcasm) and to my knowledge it has not been called locally. My beef isn't with Dekalb at all, it's with the bunch of dead weights that call themselves umps in the Upper Cumberland.

First things first Caplinger is a real good pitcher and from what I can tell an even finer young lady, with that said anyone who has paid attention to 8AA softball for anytime should know the umps from that area are just terrible. Danny Bond is an outstanding coach and gets more out of his teams year after year than probably any coach around BUT He intimidates every ump in that area to lengths I am not sure I have ever seen. Caplinger is illegal every time she pitches and has been from day one but does any one really think any umpire doing Dekalb games has the guts to call that? Heck if I didn't know any better I would guess Bobby Winningham and Bond go on vacation together and Crockett calls the district final last year and a week later his picture is on Facebook hugging a Dekalb Co. player. Bond rules that district, has for years and until the umps and the other district coaches step to his level expect more of the same. Oh yeah good luck Dekalb!!

TSCA all state is just for member schools, it's a cash grab. Anything John Condit is involved in is.

did she ever pitch for for UHS past her freshman Year?
A few games here and there her sophomore year. She had the bad luck to be born too close to probably best pitcher in Upperman softball history. I actually don't remember her pitching in a varsity game other than the Dekalb game her freshman year and that was due to a Hull injury.

Probably true but I thought they looked rough against Cannon last week and they were pretty bad, guess you just never know
-
Shocked would be an understatement
-
Is that a final?

He coached Upperman in the morning after telling Coach Heron he was with him, then gets in his car drives to Jamestown coaches York's afternoon practice then called Herron tells him he is leaving. Not going so far as to call it cowardly but probably not how it should have been handled

21-8 Upperman

Fair enough

Why the drop off in coaches attending?28 to 12 is a pretty significant number

I have been told Upperman has already had tryouts and she wasn't there, I was also told she was at Cookeville tryouts and didn't make the team. Sometimes players need more than just talent. Please don't get me wrong, I wish the kid and the people around her would get their heads screwed on right because she could help that team but attitudes would have to change from the last time she played and I am not sure I see that happening

Just a little to late to hire the person that could turn Tech around in the shortest amount of time. That being Kellie Jolly Harper. NCState's pay scale may be more than Tech wants to pay?
Jim Brown is someone who could prepare the team to win. He is just a solid fundamentalist type coach. The question is, can he recruit? Can he keep the local talent home? If so, he could be who Tech needs. Matt Insell, also comes to mind. A proven recruiter and someone who has an in with local talent and can go out of state recruiting when needed. Who ever the hire is, that coach needs to mix and mingle with the local high school coaches and plug up the talent drain from the area.
Can Jim Brown recruit? May be the funniest thing I ever read!!

One thing you made me think of that I had not earlier considered, Ty. It may be hard for this coach to sell his football players on team loyality now.
I really didn't even think of it that way but your point is well taken, I feel as the coach has showed no loyality to the school at which he is employed.

Do not care what anyone says moves like this is bad for high school basketball! TSSAA needs to stop this, if players transfer make them sit out a year just like college. If I am running Monterey High School no way on earth does this parent coach my schools football team!
-
Good Call. Lots of guts to make it at that point in the game but the right call no doubt!

First line concerning Officals on TSSAA website states that no person can register that has been convicted of a felony

12 dollars buys a lot of chewing tobacco in Gainesboro. The girls moms would have to decide which to invest in.
PRETTY FUNNY!!!!!

I think they are first cousins

Wow!

They have a good coach with a basketball coaching pedigree.
His sister was an AAU All American.
His father is or was a HS coach. ( I don't know if he has retired yet).
He made a contender out of the Smith Co. program.
Smith County made a big mistake letting Coach Dodgen go!

I am as sure as I can be that no coach can X an offical in this day and time, now what Barry Smith did to Gary Maxwell how many years ago I don't know.(Maxwell hasn't called high school in at least ten years, I guess he is a little busy calling games like Duke/North Carolina) I am sure many requests are made that an offical not go to any number of schools and that request is always denied. As far as how any referee adresses Coach Bibb he deserves what ever he gets. He WAS friends with many of the referees in the Upper Cumberland before he went to Pickett and I believe he thought he and his team would get the benefit of all doubt when that didn't happen and he didn't get his way, you get what you have now.
