  1. QUOTE(sportsfreak2307 @ May 21 2007 - 03:05 PM) 826464103[/snapback]I think if you take out both girls KGC wins and if you take out Lauren KGC wins. KGC is a better team then the Flight and I think they will go farther in Nationals than them. Lauren like I said had 30 of the points and 10+ assists because she can penetrate the zone that was given to her. I have never seen another 14 year old be able to do that so you take her out then I say KGC by double digits. Also, KGC does not recruit like these other teams. Some of these girls have been together since they were 7 years old in Jr. Pro. Almost every other AAU team in Tn has put 2 or 3 good players from 2 or 3 teams and made a single team. So this makes the job that KGC has done even more respectable.

Against the Wings on Friday the Wings shot 31 free throws to KGC's 6. The Pride is too good of a team to foul that much because of their great discipline. So I would have to say that the refs definately changed that game. The Wings should have won by 20 but instead they won by 3 this shows that KGC can beat them any day under fair circumstances.

It doesn't matter due to Lauren will continue to be with them so you argument is nothing. You can continue to make excuse after excuse but I heard parents speak after the Flight game saying they played the best they played all year againist Flight and still lost by double digits and trust me Flight didn't play well at all. Again KGC was a great team when they were 10 - 13 / one of the best to come through the state at those ages but at the 14 under age they were the 3rd best team and it was very obvious that the 1st and 2nd place teams players were bigger and stronger and anyone who knows anything about basketball and is not a parent trying to come up with some kind of excuse for there kids could tell this. Stop making excuses for you team and take your loss and congratulate Memphis Flight and Team Pride one being 1st and 2nd in the state.

If I am not mistaken KGC has not won any tournament they have played in this year besides Substate?

  2. I believe that your missing the point on Lauren Avant, SHE IS 14 YEARS OLD!!! My point is what the big deal that she is playing 14 under when she is 14 years old??? Get over it your team was a nice team from 10 to 13 but it is a big step when you jump to the 14 year old age and a even bigger step each year from here on out. From what I saw the 3rd best team in the state was KGC, Flight and Pride both were better teams and that is why they were in the finals againist each other. Lauren Avant did score a lot of points this weekend but what does that matter due to that is what great players do in big games. Lauren will be at 14 under Nationals with her 14 under team and we hope she has to miss the first day of Nike Nationsl due to winning a National Title. If you take your blinders off you will see that the Flight other players are very talented players also and they didn't need help from the officials to win the state due to they were just better than the other teams. I look for Flight and Pride to advance far in the Nationals!!

  3. Lauren Avant has played in all but one tournament with the Flight 14 under team. Teams that are good when they are younger are usually not the best teams when they get older due to players get bigger and stronger as they get older. To answer your question Flight has no problem with the KGC and the goal this weekend was not to beat KGC but it was to win the State Title and that goal was accomplished. KGC just happen to be a team that had to be beat to accomplish this goal!!!

  4. AAA

Should be Locks: Angela Puleo - William Blount and Ann Marie Lanning - Riverdale

Possible Third Spot: Tierney Jenkins - Wilson Central , Amy McNear - Memphis East, Michelle Davis - Cleveland, Jazmine Hassell - Wilson Central, or Tara Davis - Oakland

    D2

Glory will be on the list and so will Dunlap due to they were on it last year but the final spot will come down between Avant and Dupree.

    Glory Johnson - Webb School

    Lauren Avant - Lausanne

    Victoria Dunlap - BA

    Faith Dupree - Webb School

  5. Fishman - Don't know what parent you talk to but I got the book from that game vs. Dayton and 67 to 51 is not single digit and rested alot of kids in this game due to having a tough game later that evening vs. PA Rock Solid. At the older age it all about getting the kids seen so they can have the opportunity to play college basketball. Basketball on the Bayou had over 250 college coaches. I don't know the exact number like wbballjunkie but I do know that everytime any of our teams played there was well over 40 to 60 schools watching and at times more than that. What more can a parent ask for? Our alumni list speaks for itself

Does our program teach the game? Ask all the parents that play in our program and they will tell you we teach. Our practices are open to anyone and you can see for yourself that our kids learn alot about the game and they also learn how to play with great kids around them like they will have in college. Our program speaks for itself so I don't have to waste my time in explaining it so if you want to learn anything about it then go to www.tennesseeflight.com

  6. I believe it was the 15U page. Wasn't there very long. 12 July '06 PM 10:45 or 10:50.

Is there a loose cannon on the decks of the former SportShopShip?

What are you talking about Jimbo??? What are you talking about our 15 under team? You are making no sense at all. Just to inform everyone Flight Silver team defeated Boo Williams today in the finals of the Nike Basketball on the Bayou tournament to bring first place back to Tennessee. Was said to be the best event of the summer by several college coaches. 297 D1 college coaches signed in at this event.

  7. Tennessee Flight defeated Tennessee Team Pride by one point in overtime to win the 15 under state title. Good Luck to all teams in Monroe at the 15 under AAU Nationals in July.

    Top 4 teams

    1. Tennessee Flight

    2. Tennessee Team Pride

    3. Memphis Elite Swish

    4. Tennessee Elite

  8. Showtime 7 How many times did you watch Amy McNair and the Memphis Elite play to deduce that she was the best player in the tournamnet? What made her so great in your opinion? I heard the first game was the only good game that the Memphis Elite played. What did you think?

I watched the Memphis Elite every time they played and each game I was impressed with Amy McNear. She a heady player that can play either the one or the two, she can shoot the three and take you to the basket. I like other players in the tournament also like Tierney Jenkins and Dawn Evans of Pride, Lateria Owens of TN Lady Colts, kid from Milan that plays for the Wings, and of course my Flight Navy girls. I am just stating that I liked Amy McNear this weekend alot and no matter what her team did she was the best prospect of the weekend.

It is obvious that you know nothing about the tournament that my teams attend. It is just not the Tennessee Flight not attending AAU Nationals. The Indiana The Family program took the first three places at the Indiana state tournament this past weekend with the Family N team winning and two sister programs Soliders and Panthers coming in second and third. NONE of the three are attending AAU Natioanls due to playing in Nike events.

I am not making any excuses but just stating that we should have won the game. The Flight Navy team no one expected them to do anything at the state tournament but that didn't happen. They showed that they were the better team even though the scoreboard didn't show it at the end and I know that is all that matters. Like it or not but the Flight has the best two 16 under teams in the state. The coaching coment that you had really made me laugh :thumb::D

  9. k

Why would the Flight bother to play in the AAU State if they know they are not going to Nationals? Seems like AAU would want to avoid this in the future, It kept some team from being a state runner-up!

I also thought that the Flight left AAU for the Nike circuit because of the lack of competition. I heard both Nike teams(navy and silver) were very close in talent.

How could one of these super teams lose to just a regular AAU team? Did Team Pride get lucky or are they that good?

Congratulations to all teams at the 16 under state. The finals was a hard faught game that Flight Navy should have won due to out playing Team Pride for about 35 minutes of the 40 minute game. You have to give Pride credit for doing enough at the end to pull the victory. Flight Silver did not play in the AAU state tournament for several different reasons but rest assure if they were in Cookeville you would have known it. I was very impressed with the Tennessee Wings and the Tennessee Lady Colts. Both of these teams are very good teams that easily could have won the state tournament. The W TN Lady Celtics seem to be a really good team also but from talking with there coach they didn't play all that well. The Memphis Elite I thought was a talented group of girls that beat the Pride by 15 points. Amy McNear was probably the best player in the tournament.

In the end all I have to say is Pride 40 to Flight 5. All I hear every where I go is how Flight has the officials on there side and it makes me sick due to all our teams do is go out and play. In the end all the talk seem to get in the refs head to due to when you have a championship game and Pride shoots 40 FT's and Flight shoots 5. Cumberland could come close to beating the Lady Vols if this happen in there favor and it shows in the end due to even having this wide difference. As bad of a difference there was in fouls we still gave the game away due to having the game in hand for 35 minutes. Our coaches will correct this problem and get Flight Navy ready for this coming weekend in Ohio and the whole month of July. Good Luck to all teams in the coming month of July.

Set a Virp it is due to competition and there was none there.

  10. Nice post elitbball and wbballjunkie. Travel ball is not for all players but only for the best players. It has been a major change in summer basketball. My older teams last summer went to the 16 under AAU Nationals and played 9 games. We won 8 of the games by 40 plus points. The top 8 players didn't get to play much more than a quarter of the game due to worrying about injury from another player on another team getting mad due to loosing by so much and trying to take out one of our players. The ninth game we played another Nike Team, Boo Williams Summer League. We lost this game by 5 points. Boo Williams beat us twice last summer. We then go to Nike Nationals at the end of the summer in Augusta. We played 7 games winning 6 of them by 8 or less points and loosing in the quarter final by 1 point to the Orlando Comets. In all games at this event you had games that were not blow out but games that go down to the last possession. College coaches want to see the players in these types of games where they players are being challenged and not in games where a player team is up by 35 points playing againist lesser competition. Nike Nationals and other Nike events are a big difference in competition and in the end it makes our kids alot better and lets our player have the chance to show college coaches how they stack up againist the best players in the nation.

Nike Nationals consist of the top 24 teams in the nation. Out of this 24 teams Tennessee Flight, Philly Belles, Georgia Metros, Orlando Comets, and Boo Williams attended AAU Nationals. Out of this group of teams this coming 2006 summer the Orlando Comets will be attending AAU Nationals while Tennessee Flight, Philly Belles, Georgia Metros, and Boo Williams will strictly play the Nike circuit only while the Orlando Comets will play in AAU Nationals due to the tournament being in Orlando. Elitebball is right on the money on how shoe company work on there own agendas. It kind of a job due to Nike and Adidas have people that over see all of there teams and what these directors say is what the teams are to do.

The question I get all the time is just exactly who is the Nike Elite Travel Teams Programs? I will answer that question:

Orlando Comets, NY Liberty Belles, West Coast Elite, GA / Lina 76'ers, New England Crusaders, Texas Express, Indiana "The Family", Georgia Metros, Cal Swish, Philadelphia Belles, Spokane Stars, Alabama Roadrunners, Boo Williams Summer League, Illinois Hustle, West Virginia Tornadoes, Michigan Crossover, Tennessee Flight, New York Gauchos, OGDL (LA), Fairfax Stars, Fencor, and All - Ohio Black.

  11. I hear you JustDoIt but is is obvious that you don't know who I am. Yes that coach was removed from the bench and is serving a year suspension from being a head coach in our program. It was not during a game that he got into it with a official but it was after a game where a official said something to this coach and it caused the coach to act in a manner he shouldn't have after the game, NOT DURING THE GAME. He is sorry for his action and is not the head coach of any team in my program for a year and he is happy with his suspension.

  12. Yes all programs have coaches that at one time or another have been tossed from a game. Matter of fact a coach from my program was tossed two weeks earlier at the Boo Williams tournment but never was anything said to anyone after the ref ask him to leave. He picked up his stuff and left the gym like he was asked. All programs have also had fans at one time or another that have been tossed from a game. Now by putting a coach of mine in the same sentence of acting and use of words that was used in front of kids, parents, and others then NO we haven't had coaches act like this elitebball.

Now in terms of the substate being ran by a Flight coach? Yes, Phil Carr works in the Flight program but I speak for all that the North Middle substate is ran better than any substate and there is no favoritism shown to any team. The weekend before Flight played Pride and Pride won the game and nothing was said by either team.

Now having to play over three weekends, Yes the Flight team played three weekends in a row. If you really want to know the staff and players really didn't care much about coming back and playing this past weekend either but we did casue that what the schedule said and never was a word said.

It has been made to believe that elite was the only team that had to travel to North Middle to play, No Flight was schedule to play in the South Middle substate but was moved to North Middle. Is that where we wanted to play, NO and hopefully next year that can be fixed but it didn't cause anyone in our prgram to explode and loose our head.

I really didn't pay attention when all the happenings were happening during the game but after watching the tape and hearing words that were said and hearing from others things that were said and done then if we want to open this up for disscussion and call people out then I can do so also. Phil Carr is as honest of a person that you will ever meet. I think he is being totally disrespected by even writing or thinking in anyway that he would be apart of any wrong doing. It is very obvious to anyone that watched the game that there was no wrong doing done and just take your loss and get ready for the state. The officials of the games have been calling AAU state tournaments for the past 10 years. The game was called the same on both ends and that is all you can ask for by a official. I really don't need to go into deep discussion of things that after watching the game tape that was said loud enough to hear it 30 minutes down the road in Nashville. If we are going call people out then be prepared to get called right back on. I am done with this disscussion and have done a great job this year of staying off these boards and will continue to stay away from them and hope that when my coaches talk to people on this matter they said what they really feel to them on the phone instead of saying one thing and writing something different.

  13. Nice post and it seems you have watched several of the teams in the Flight program play. Great job to all teams and the 15 under age division is very competitve this year. Yes we could have played Novosel and Brooks 15 under but the other sophomres are between 1 to 3 months to old but will be able to play 16 under two years in a row. Also playing up is Faith Dupree, 6'3, which may be the best freshman post player in the state. Novosel is like you said very talented but still has alot of work to do and maybe next year we will play her in the AAU circuit rather than just the Nike circuit so others can see what amazed you so much in Hampton :lol::o:lol:.

Flight program is running very strong right now and the future is as bright as ever. Over the next several months stay tuned to www.tennesseeflight.com due to some more news that will shock alot of people will be posted. Good Luck to all teams at the AAU state tournaments.

  15. AAA

    KeKe Stewart

    Jackie Pickel

    Jessica Mooney

    Lakendra Phillips

These four are you best four choices. I believe that Stewart will win the award but a little bird told me that three of these four will be up for the award

    AA

    Bianca Thomas

    Brandi Brown

    Latoya Bellamy

All three of these young ladies were up for the award last year with Thomas winning it. All three of these young ladies has had a great year. I look for all three of these girls to be back up for the award and for Thomas or Brown to win the award

    A

I have no clue! I don't watch single A much so I am not going even try to say who will win Miss Basketball

    D2

    Alisha Easley

    Glory Johnson

    Victoria Dunlap

Glory Johnson may be the best player in all division. I would say that Johnson will win the award but with her being younger than the other two I could very easily see the award going to Easley or Dunlap.

  16. Showtime in reference to YOUR COMMENT "What was the TSSAA thinking putting the possibility of these two teams playing in the first round? Easily would be the state final game if both were in opposit brackets"

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ! ! ! ! Granted Ridgeway could make the field. BUT Shelbyville WILL NOT make State for the SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR. In fact if I were YOU I'd be worried about getting out of the District.

Times are a changing and so is the changing of the Guard. Insell is gone and the Eaglettes are not what they once were.

Nice Post, seems that Shelbyville still gets under your skin. I wouldn't bet on your post saying Shelbyville will not get out of the district. Outside of the top 5 teams AAA is the weakest in years

  17. It is amazing to me that the best team that I have seen the second half of the season is not out of middle or east Tennessee but from the West. Memphis Ridgeway is 26 - 2 and are not even ranked. They beat Northside by 18 points early in the season. It just shows that the voters are really not doing there homework. Here goes my AAA predictions:

Oak Ridge vs Cumberland Co. - This will be a very sloopy game. Oak Ridge will look to get it in a half court game and pound it inside to KeKe Stewart. Cumberland Co will look to make it a up tempo game to try to take Stewart out of the game. I look for this game to stay under 50 points and Oak Ridge slide away with a win.

Mt. Juliet / Wilson Central vs. Memphis Bartlett - A very high scoring game. Bartlett Ashley Herring will show the state why she is the best junior in the state of Tennessee. This game will be exciting from start to finish. MJ and WC are both very well coached and will try to slow Bartlett down and if they are successful then MJ / WC will come out on top. I look for MJ / WC to win this game by 5 or less points but Herring will establish herself as the front runner for 2007 Miss Basketball.

Smyrna vs. Heritage - How many people thought that Heritage would be playing in the "Glass House" in March without Cait the Great? We someone forgot to give Rick Howard the memo. I believe the best coaching job in the state has been done by Rick Howard. Heritage has shown that they were more than just a one player team. Smyrna on the other hand has had the best season in many years. They are tough at every position and are well coached also. It is a shame that this is a first round match up but I look for Heritage to again find a way to win and move on to the state semi finals.

Ridgeway vs Shelbyville - WHAT A GAME!!!! What was the TSSAA thinking putting the possibility of these two teams playing in the first round? Easily would be the state final game if both were in opposite brackets. Insell has moved on to MTSU and Burkey has pick it up and has brought the Eaglettes back to there second home Murphy Center. Ridgeway is teams that is not getting any pub this season but are probably the most talented team in the state. Lakendra Phillips, Florida signee, is easily top five player in the state. I look for this game to go down to the final buzzer one of these two teams making a jumper with .1 seconds on the clock to win by 1. WHO EVER WINS THIS GAME WILL BE THE 2006 AAA STATE CHAMPIONS!

    Semi-Finals

Oak Ridge vs. MJ / WC - Stewart will show why she is a finalist for Miss Basketball in a Oak Ridge win and will put Prudden one step closer to another Gold Ball.

Ridgeway / Shelbyville vs. Heritage - Heritage will put up a great fight but Rigeway/Shelbyville will pull the W out in the end. Katie Brooks soph from Heritage will be All Tournament.

    Finals

Oak Ridge vs Ridgeway/Shelbyville - Stewart again shines on her way to end her high school career on the same floor that she will play college ball.

    MVP: KeKe Stewart

    Miss Basketball Finalist:

I have really thought long and hard over the past couple weeks on who the 3 finalist are going to be, so I really couldn't settle on three so I will give you who the the top 4 are and you can make your decision from there. People love to get on here and promote there own daughter / friend but these will be the four the voters pick between and if someone besides these four are put in the final 3 then not only will I be shocked but it will once again show how bright the media is:

KeKe Stewart - Oak Ridge High School

Lakendra Phillips - Ridgeway High School

Jackie Pickel - Bradley Central High School

Jessica Mooney - Hillsboro High School

  18. Angela Puleo a 5'9 Jr at William Blount High School committed to the University of Georgia earlier today. We have been blessed to have Angela in our Tennessee Flight Nike Family for the past three years. We are proud of you Angela and are ready for one last summer with you this coming summer playing on our Nike Travel Team. Keep up the good work and finish your junior year of high school strong. Angela is the second Tennessee Flight player to commit out of the 2007 class. Caitlin Holifield committed two weeks ago to the University of Alabama.

    www.tennesseeflight.com

  19. Caitlin Holifield a 6'1 Jr at Powell High School committed to the University of Alabama over the weekend. We have been blessed to have Caitlin in our Nike Family since she was 13 years old playing for Shelbyville Sport Shop / Tennessee Flight. We are proud of you Caitlin and are ready for one last summer with you this coming summer playing on our Travel Team. Keep up the good work and finish your junior year of high school strong. Caitlin is the first of a lot more Flight players to commit out of the 2007 class.

  20. I believe Shelbyville played a great game and deserved to win. The bulldogs were simply outcoached on this one. They ran some stupid plays and took out key players in the fourth quarter. If Palmer had stayed in they might've pulled it out. She was shutting down Armstrong the whole game and one of the only Smyrna players hitting shots tonight. Smyrna was not hitting shots tonight and the free thow percentage was not what I have seen from these young ladies. Pollock couldnt execute the last play leaving the them out of time. This is a great learning experience for Smyrna and a good time and team to learn from. If you have to loose it is best to loose early and loose to a good team and we did. Props to Shelbyville you played a great game against a great team. But dont blow over the Lady Bulldogs yet they have alot of fight left in them!! Go Dogs!!

It is easy after a lose to get on here and blast the coaching staff. I was not at the game but it really makes me mad to see a fan get on here under a screen name and blast a guy that is 16 - 1 on the season. He has really stepped this program up and made them into a contender. I remember five years ago how Smyrna was the laughing stock of girls baskestball in the state of Tennessee. Get off your coach and support your team. I look for Smyrna to bounce back and get back on track. Keep up the good work Steve.

  21. I would like to add that whoever stated that Oak Ridge wouldn't get out of the Region does not know alot about Basketball. I think that Oak Ridge will not only get out of the Region but will be playing in Murfreesboro in March. I still think that it will be Heritage and Oak Ridge. I know that Cait is down but this team is still winning alot of ball games without her. Oak Ridge has the KeKe Stewart inside and noone can stop her one on one. I really gets to me how people get on here and say how they shut KeKe down. Guarding her with three players usually will cause a player not to score as much. Watch out for Kortni Jones and Raegan Thompson, Prudden has these two youngs kids believing and giving KeKe the help she needs will make this team a state contender.

As for Raegan Thompson coming to Oak Ridge, how can you blame this kid for wanting to play for a coach like Jill Prudden. Don't get on here and bash someone for making a smart move. Probably just jealous that your kid is not good enough to play for Oak Ridge.
