Well 89 Impact did it again. Back to back state champs. Beat a very good 89 Fury in semis and won the final 6-0 against the Memphis Kickers. Hopefully they will get a good draw for regionals.

liverpool MIGHT win state. im taking chaos,fever,or tnfc over them. they were lucky to beat fever and impact last year. i know that fever has added 3 new players and chaos i think a couple and tnfc some new ones,too. it will not be easy for liverpool to win. -tnfc 89 has atleast 3(maybe a couple more)national players coming from brandenton with daniel kelly. they will destroy impact and any other team in state for that matter. i know that many impact players play for farragut and i was not impressed with any of you.#14 is above average but nowhere close to being a national player like daniel kelly or the others coming in. tnfc also has all-state tj brown in the back with national player blair(?) they will be hard to crack.tnfc could show well in regionals, too.

I heard there is some national team tournament the same weekend as club states that will cause the national players from TNFC to miss club. Is this true?

I am sure Farrugut is a very good team, you don't have a record like that and not be a good team, but they sure have allowed a lot of goals this year, and I think personally that defense wins games in soccer, which is why you see 2-1 games or 1-0 games once you get to the state level. We'll see, I think it's going to be a great game, no matter who wins.

Yes they have allowed a lot of goals but that is because they played the hardest schedule in the state.

I am glad that Coach Smelser had some time to reflect on the game before posting that one.

sports-man (n.) A person who abides by the rules and accepts victory or defeat graciously.

I commend him on his teams efforts and season, but his post was far from being a shinning example of good sportsmanship. References to "the intent" of the opposing team and the integrity of the Farragut coach goes out of the boundries of being a good sportsman. Being a teacher does not automatically qualify someone to lead young people on the field, but I do appreciate his commitment to his players and their families.

To add on to this, I loved the sportsmanship of the Science Hill players and coach after the game. Not only did most of the players and the coach not shake hands with the Farragut players or head coach, but the goalie tried to start a fight and cuss out the Farragut players. I just loved their class before and after the game.

Yeah MW's defense was not impressive at all. I dont think their goalie made one good save. Bearden finished their chances.

I wouldn't say there wasn't soccer played today. I didn't have a horse in this race - just wanted to see the game since I live in Johnson City (ok I was quietly routing for SH since they beat my favorite team) but I would say it was two teams trying very hard to win. I had never seen Farragut play before but I feel they played an excellent game very pretty soccer but they were also able to play it physical with SH. I was really impressed with them. Sorry SH but I do think they were the better team today.

Congrats to Farragut. Your graduation tonight will be all the more sweet.

Yeah Backstrom got fouled for two PKs by the same player (probably frustration). The second was a cheap and dirty foul. It deserved a red but the player only got a yellow. Science Hill had 5 direct and indirect kicks within 5 yards of the 18. The one they scored on was an indirect kick inside the box. Their other goal was off a pk by Eddie Yah.

because that is crazy, tell me i am wrong and give some examples of why. at least give it a try.

First of all, u said that ur brother was the best player on the field. Come on now, you cant be serious. He showed no skill or ability to control the ball. Just clearing the ball everytime does not make you a good player. I was at the game and i would not even consider him one of the better players on the field. The sweeper for Bearden was by far their best defender.

And secondly, ur comments of how ur brother dominated Backstrom and how he is faster and stonger are absurd. Im pretty sure Backstrom has 2 sick goals and 2 assists in the two games against Bearden. So i dont think any player on Bearden has "dominated" him.

Ben never went around him one time.

One time he almost did but Trevor blocked the cross and Farragut got a corner.

Might i add that Trevor and Ben hit the ball at the same time and he flipped Ben right to the ground.

Maybe you are thinking about his crosses when he was switched to the other side of the field or something.

Ben ran by that kid his fair share of times... and yea he won some 50/50's.... but anyone can if theres noone around him. If farragut had played more to ben's feet he wouldve ran right by him... He had a nice game but he didnt dominate ben at all..

I used to play for Oak Ridge as well as Bearden. and i was thiking about that, and Oak Ridge HATES Bearden, they will be ready, and they have been steadily improving, it may be a different game this time.

I am not biased by any means (in my opinion, i guess others can say otherwise). i say bearden plays bad when they do, but that is not the case last night.

As for my best player, again you all might think this is biased, it would have to be #16 on Bearden it is Trevor Cook, my little brother. He too is a defender, he did not let any one go by him, won every 50/50 ball that i saw, and stopped Ben Backstrom from doing anything. Yes yes it says he scored, but that was a direct kick (and a nice one).

Yeah ur brother,number 16, was not that impressive. All he did was boot the ball up everytime it came near him. He was good but no where near the best player, and im pretty sure Backstrom got some nice crosses and numerous shots off so thats not stopping him from doing anything.

I agree with soccer67. How can a team who beat Science Hill and dominated DB be behind DB and Farragut. Morristown West did tie DB, but the shots were about 20 to 5 going to MW and MW hitting the post many times.

Maybe the ties against Jefferson County and Greeneville hurt Morristown West's ranking.

"lucky shot", "i bet next time things would turn out different" was all the responds we got. So we beat CAK.... "Yea, ok". Then Now we beat farragut... "NO farragut is better"..."the history of soccer says u guys gonna lose" "SH beat Farragut last time, and lost later on".

Yeah well he may not be on the team this year but he definitely was an all-state player last year (something u probably will never achieve). So i am pretty sure he can say whatever he wants.
