1. QUOTE(barcelona @ May 11 2007 - 12:12 AM) 826457038Normally I would let bygones be bygones, but in this game there was a rather egregious display of poor sportsmanship/lack of class on the part of Blackman's #11, whose name, if i'm not mistaken, is Justin Cronin. Shortly before halftime, Cronin let fly with some ethnic slurs directed at Cookeville's #34, a Bosnian refugee; minus a few choice words, "Go back to Bosnia." Sure, trash talking exists in the sport. But what took place is uncalled for--even FIFA had players recite anti-racism manifestoes prior to World Cup matches last summer. Some sort of action to discourage this sort of behavior in the future would be nice; had the perpetrator been a Cookeville player, well, he would have been booted from the team.

What was classy was the meeting of the two teams' captains at the half to resolve the manner through calm discussion and good sportsmanship.

Blackman played well, and they won the game by winning 50/50 balls. Hopefully the two squads will face off again in the Region final.

that's funny because one of the Blackman player told one of our players (lebanon) to go back to Mexico.....poor sportsmanship.

  2. QUOTE(underrated27 @ May 9 2007 - 11:36 AM) 826455426wow ok, when a team doesn't have but four shots in the whole game..gets a lucky break cause Warren scored with time expiring and gets called back.. has a district record of 1-5 .. beats Warren for the first time in history... and then fulfills the meaning of owned when they played Blackman the first half and Blackman's j.v the second half.... tell me if that's owned?

No actually their varsity played all but maybe ten minutes of the second half, we made a few mistakes in the first half and our keeper played a great second half along with the rest of the team, and we had some of our jv in the second half as well.

  3. yeah, from what I saw he had a lot of talent. That must've been a huge loss for them.

Most of the games Riverdale lost was because of their offense. When they lost five in a row, they only scored 2 goals in 5 games.

If they do get their starting keeper back, it will be a big emotional lift for them as well though, as I'm sure he was a leader on the field.

  4. Lebanon v Warren County

    siegel v Riverdale

Both of these games are coin tosses. It depends on who comes out strong, and who wants it more. My picks would be Lebanon and siegel to win both games though. Both teams have been playing well as of late. Don't get me wrong, Warren Co. and Riverdale are great teams, but that is just my opinion.

any other thoughts on these two games? I don't think the other two in the first round will be a big deal.

  5. Lebanon 4

    Glencliff 1

Lebaon is starting to find their groove at the right time. They have Warren County in the first round, and it should be interesting. The last game was close and Warren County pulled out a win with a goal in the final few minutes.

  6. I think that Riverdale is the stronger team. They are also faster than you guys give them credit for. Yes, they have not been playing well lately, but I will be surprised if Siegel beats them tonight.

    Prediction:

    Riverdale 2

    Siegel 0

  7. QUOTE(sportsfan15 @ Apr 13 2007 - 11:13 AM) 826436710Siegel 2 PJPII 1

Yankeesfan, If you had seen the Blackman-Siegel game you might have a different opinion of them. But that was also a very emotional, hard fought game.

well, this was just my opinion from what I could see. Our game wasn't really close so maybe that played into it.

  8. Lebanon played Blackman today and the final was:

    Blackman 4

    Lebanon 0

The game was scoreless for the first 27 minutes, as Blackman couldn't seem to finish. The end of the half ended up 2-0 Blackman advantage. In the second half, Lebanon had a few more opportunities than the first, but didn't finish. They also fouled 2 players in the box for pk's. Two players for tied up in one, and the other was a questionable shoulder, but they were probably the right calls in the end.

Blackman is the classiest team in the district. They don't whine, they don't argue with each other, and they are respectful on the field. It was a pleasure to play with them, although the outcome didn't come the way I wanted it to.....

  9. QUOTE(underrated27 @ Apr 10 2007 - 09:43 AM) 826433845Please update the lebanon oakland game I'd like to see how that goes

Cookeville is a strong team in my opinion, I don't play for them but I have seen them play a lot. The only reason their standings are low is because they have played teams like Hendersonville T 1-1, Dobyns Bennett L 2-0, Gallatin L 2-0, and they're looking at Germantown, Houston, and Baylor, not to mention Riverdale and Blackman from their own district. They are a team that will definately improve by the end of the season. They're also a team that you definately shouldn't take for granted. If they keep improving through the season as they should they'll be in a run for the top two spots in 7-AAA, along with either Blackman or Riverdale.

Lebanon played Oakland last night and the final was Lebanon 4 Oakland 0 as mentioned above. Lebanon played well the first half and got up by 3, but one of their midfielders got hurt and left the game with a broken collarbone. The second half was sloppy for Lebanon, but they held the ball for most of the game, and non-starters were in nearly all of the second half too. They were probably resting up for Blackman which will be tomorrow.

I'll post the results to that one tomorrow night. Should be a good game if Lebanon comes out willing to battle for it.

  10. Warren County 3

    Lebanon 2

This was one of the hardest faught games I've ever played in. Warren played very physical, and they didn't like the calls against them when they were throwing shoulders. Lebanon came out strong and scored the first goal, but went to sleep until the end of the second half after that when they tied it up.

Warren County scored with 2 minutes left in the game. The ball hit the crossbar, then hit the post, and bounced out, but somehow it was counted as a goal. The whole purpose of rounded posts is if it bounces out, then it's not a goal....not rocket science.

Nonetheness, Lebanon and Warren both faught hard and played well. Good game.

  11. Look for Lebanon to play Warren close tomorrow. It should be a very close game. I'll post a score tomorrow night.

Also, any update on the Keeper from Riverdale? He was injured in the game against Lebanon, is he out for the whole season. That is a shame, he was one of the best in the state I hear.
