Anyway, back to the game. I’m not sure which of our qb’s are going to play. Does anyone have information on Ty’s return?

I've heard from a very good and close source that Ty will be ready to lace those cleats up and get the win vs. Betsy! I just want to get my picture taken with Jason Witten tomorrow night!

Upperman's only loss is to Fayetteville in a tight game 19-14. Weeks later Fayetteville played Red Bank. Red Bank won 28-0.

I know teams improve over the season and teams can matchup differently,  but the scores based on this common opponent and playing at Red Bank is way I am slightly leaning toward a Red Bank win?

Fayetteville didn't have their starting tailback and 2 of their best offensive lineman for the Red Bank game. I usually don't like to blame a game on the refs but thatgame at Fayetteville was one big screw job big time.

...and what's the honey bees record against Alcoa?

That's the problem with you Upperman fans. You get beat and then whine about HOW you got beat. "Oh it was a trick play" whaaa! Or the Classic chest thump...."we only  got beat by two touchdowns ". Like that's  worthy of bragging rights. Then the "if it wasnt for your QB you'd got beat?" You mean because he ran the ball right down your throat?? Biggest bunch of whiners in TN!

I know Upperman will not fare well against this years Alcoa defense. Period. I hope honey bees get to travel to Alcoa. It will be a beat down!!:thumb:

It was supposed to be a beat down last year wasn't it? If your former Blount County referee resident that awarded you that onside kick that you didn't get then you would have lost that game. I haven't  said anything about your quarterback but like I said Mighty Alcoa shouldn't have had to resort to a trick play just to beat a crossroads school! I guess we will just have to see in about 4 weeks. If you don't supposedly beat us down it will be considered a loss whether you win on the scoreboard or not!

Not sure if the count is fall of 2020 if Upperman will grow that much, but the current seventh grade class at the middle school is supposed to be considerably larger than any before.  That should mean fall of 2021 would put enrollment in the range that is currently 4A, but with open zoning in the county, anything is possible.

My youngest daughter is in the 7th grade at Upperman Middle School and they have 250 alone just had to add a teacher the Monday after we come back from fall break and the Sophomore Class has like 210 it used to be the biggest Class this is what class my oldest is in.

Not even close!! Covington was the Real Deal, much like I expect Pearl Cohn will be this year. Honey Bees where never a threat last year.

Is that the reason you had to reach into your bag of tricks and do a hook and ladder before halftime? When is the last time Alcoa had to resort to a hook and ladder?

I did see Alcoa winning state championships before Rankin! Lots of them!

Exactly but Rankin didn't win a State Championship until he went to a bigger Metropolis like Murfreesboro or Alcoa that were surrounded by bigger areas to get players from. He couldn't do it at the smaller rural school because the talent wasn't there! I never once said Alcoa hadnt won any! Read

I was there a few years ago and unless you have done any upgrades that field is by far better than yours has ever been. You better start looking in your own backyard.

nope it's not the reason. the direct reason is the work the kids put in. There is a natural talent pool of athletes in the area, that helps. But it's the work the kids put in that have separated them from other programs.

for example, Alcoa has 17 state championships. 10 of those have come in the have come in the 13 yrs since Rankin has been there. that's not a coincidence.

when people using open enrollment as an excuse, it takes away from the effort the kids put in.

I didn't see Rankin win a State Championship at Smith County was there?  He didn't win one until he went to Riverdale a bigger Metropolis like Murfreesboro with Nashville and Antioch and Smyrna right down the road and then he moves to Alcoa with a big Metropolis like Knoxville.  See the similarities don't think that any of those kids in Murfreesboro or Alcoa put in anymore work  than Smith County boys do. If you think so you have never run the hill in Carthage. It all comesdown to having a big talent pool to choose from and just like at Upperman and Smith County rural country schools you cant do that at these schools and be as competitive year in and year out.

  9. BCsportsfan that my friend is the difference. You guys "open zone" consists of out of county people paying $1,000 to come to school there. Our "open zone" consists of inside the county. We still can't play for Upperman one year and Cookeville the next unless you change dwellings.  There is a big difference in one being open zoned to people out of the county and one being open zoned to people in the county. We do not have a big city away from us like Knoxville 20 minutes away like you guys do that we grab really good players from. If we charged 1,000 to all the kids from Overton County and White County and the rest of the surrounding counties both Cookeville and Upperman could put teams on the field that could compete with you on a regular basis.

I'm sure my Eagles will play hard to the final whistle, but I'm afraid this one is going to get ugly quick. Red Bank is the real deal this year if they execute to their abilities.:hungry:

What makes them so much different than the real deal team that got stomped last year by Upperman? Did they have a great bunch of 8th graders come in to make this such a better team than what they had last year? Just asking!

Yes I did..didn't realize it until you mentioned it ! I also split the "home" teams vice the "visiting" teams(4 to 4). I haven't done a study but I believe the home team wins the majority of the time. We will see on Monday night and good luck to all involved!!

Tyner Ram Fan since you are in the same district who is tougher Brainerd or Howard. I figured Howard is a tougher team. Thanks

    We shot bad period!

That's correct we didn't make the free throws.  Our offense has been horrendous for weeks now. Dekalb playwd good enough to win. I don't think Dekalb fouled on purpose. I didn't see a foul on the play but I aso wouldn't have called a foul with 1.8 seconds left. The girl was blocked and she hit the floor and they called a foul. I wouldn't have called a foul with that amount of time left. I would have let them battle it out in overtime. The reason it was so loud in that crowd was macon and dekalb was mixed and both cheering against Upperman and even the folks that were there were cheering against Upperman. I have never seen two pep clubs drom 2 different schools mix like they did last night. But the reason Macon did it was they thought they had an easier ride with Dekalb winning than Upperman but Dekalb isn't smart enough to figure that out. This next game the same crowd that was cheering with you will be cheering against you calling dekalb names. Good luck to both teams out of our district continuing on. Hope to see you both at the Murphy Center representing district 8AA!!!

I was there with 1 second left in the half her big girl shot a 3 and it was blocked out of frustration the girl shoved the DeKalb player down and a foul was called with no time left. It was Upperman’s 10th foul she ran almost to mid court and started yelling at the ref (wasn’t the one who made the call) the DeKalb player goes to the line and she’s screaming at them. The girl missed the FT and she started screaming again that it was a 1 and 1 but the foul was the 1 that made it a double bonus she grabbed the ref and was arguing during the FT.

I was there also and she got a little uptight but she never screamed. If you know Dana she doesn't have the voice to scream and she never once laid her hands on the ref. I facebook live'd the game. Don't feed a bunch of crap that isn't  there. She first talked to older ref that made the call then she asked the lady official for some clarification.  She never screamed and she never laid her hands on anybody. Quit exaggerating!

Schedule is already set. We NEVER look over our shoulders. Y’all had your chance to show up last week but decided to hide behind your phones. Bring it. We will be more than happy to take some more of your gate money...

And I'll be more than happy to watch your studs take home a silver ball!! Either one this year will be tainted for ya.

I will meet you at Ralphs or Five Guys or just at the stadium I wont hide behind a phone or a computer. I live 2 miles from the stadium.

Covington would be better to pull from their feeder school than Upperman. Y’all got your boys thinking they were robbed rather than beat. That’s why your program will never get over the semi hump. Excuses never breed champions Mac.....

Throwdeslant you might be more successful if your quarterback would throw de slant more!!! Glad y'all play those cupcake schools in the east all the time. Don't get me wrong but when you come west this past Friday night your coach was saying y'all were lucky to get out of Baxter with a win. It sure wasn't a 56-0 over Kingston or Claiborne County or Unicoi County or Scott County give me a break. Our district had 3 top 10 teams in the State.

Have the Upperman AD call Josh Stevens at Alcoa High School. I’m sure something can be worked out for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. You might want to start at the middle school level first. Not sure your kids will appreciate y’all throwing them to the wolves right off the bat.

I think you’ve got it turned around there Mac. Us Tornadoes are gonna continue to have fun with y’all. You gotta win one first to be on the other end. Alcoa-102       Upperman-32

    :roflolk:

We don't want to wait till 2021 and 2022 qe want y'all next year and the years to come. Y'all got lucky this past Friday night and we will be there this Saturday afternoon. Don't be looking over your shoulder too much. We will watch y'all falter this come Saturday.

Well, you sure are full of something. We got two transfers that have moved in from Florida. They will be ready to play Saturday afternoon. Watching them practice now. :thumb:

Yeah and Covington will be suiting up some of the Upperman players also. C'mon man we all know what ole Gary was talking about getting some help from the same people this week just like he got this past week.
