  1. We can all go and see how some of the teams from the IMAC will be this year at Carson Newman on saturday. Several of the teams will be scrimmaging against some good competion.

Did the red headed girl from morristown west quit? And did the big post girl quit also?

    no..everyone is back this season

  2. I would disagree that the new coach got by with Burkey's talent. He was a good man, but had no discipline. I also would say that you don't make it to the final four in the state tournament on leftovers from a previous coach. The coaching staff at greeneville did an excellent job with what they had to work with. They almost beat a team from Shelbyville that had a lot more talent than them. Greeneville has only lost two players from last years team.

One of the two players was a senior. The other was someone who wanted to focus on another sport. When you have that many players coming back and you have a coaching staff that has had the summer to work with the kids you should expect good results for this year.

Greeneville scrimmaged this past weekend at South Greene and won both games. The beat Dobyns Bennett by 24 and beat South Greene by 4. They still have a lot to work on, but with the other teams in their league I see them to win the conference.

Morristown west also had a couple of girls quit over the summer.

I haven't heard of anyone that quit over the summer..who?

  3. So whats the outlook on D2-AAA?

I think it could be one of the stronger conferences in the state.

We all know of Greeneville and their state tourney trips. Although coaching could be a liability as it seemed their coach learned on the job last year. But you cant deny their talent and speed.

Morristown West was the less talented than Greeneville last year, but Gaylon outcoached them in the district and region finals. They had talent with LeMarr and Phipps that has graduated. Can they keep up?

Jeff County finished third last year, but was bounced from the District tournament in the opening round by a one-win Cocke County team. They lose Ashley Kyle at point, but return a lot of girls who got a lot of playing time last year.

Morristown East steadily improved last year and they've gotten better from the last two years. Still seems though they have the way to lose the games they are supposed to win (see 2006 District Tournament).

Cherokee disappointed me a little last year, a lot of young talent returned, but they didnt make strides like I thought they would. Seemed out of shape, especially early on. This can be a dangerous team with that class of juniors they have with Price, Ewing, etc.

Cocke County went 2-and-forever last year and they lose Shawna Ball, but they return three starters, Jerrica Lane who plays 2/3.....Nikki Bryant at the 5, who missed 2005 with a torn ACL and Alex Suggs who can play at guard. They also get two very impressive freshman in Morgan Buda and Shannon Depew who left their mark on the middle school ranks at Newport Grammar as well on the AAU national ranks.

    Lemarr didn't graduate.

  4. That is BS,it is the biggest running lie in the world.I can say with 100% certainty that NO player,or fan in the student section ever said that.I asked a number of players who were on the field, and know without a doubt that no player want chanting that name. You need to understand that words get twisted, and what people think they hear is not always what is said. 95% of the players last year had never heard of the Sanvy Theno situation until that next week when Mo West fans and players started speading a rumor that someone was chanting his name.

thats true about not always hearing or seeing the right words..especially since this year every jeff co student thought mo west sign said F U thanks for rabbit but it really said HEY EUV thanks for rabbit..and for everyone that doesnt know rabbit (derek lowry) transfered to west from jeff and EUVenard is the jeff county coach.

  5. Hmm...Looks like you've changed your perspective on Cait now that you've realized her dad is a poster...Nice.

hmm..not really, but no one plays great every game. i was pretty heated when i said that, as for her dad i dont really care about that, it is my opinion anyway so im not apoligizing or anything just because thats her dad. i just realized hey, i'd rather see a team from east tenn. win state more than i would anyone else, but i just heard they lost so i guess it's up to gville

  6. I don't know if it was a team decision. It is my understanding that East would not allow West to play at East. This comes from a pretty reliable source high up in the food chain - but maybe he's wrong.

Powell has the same colors at East..I wouldn't play at East either because it would seem like home to Powell, and they did hold a team meeting and got to decide, or at least thats what the players were saying

  7. She is getting better.....taking a different medication.

HTV....Allison Butler is the young lady from Walker Valley.

Well, thats good to hear, didn't mean to accuse her of being out of shape by the way because im sure she is in shape. If that PG off your team can score like she did against west you all will have a shot. She seems like she has stepped up since tournament started?

  8. "playball"...who cares how you say it, I was just referring to you. If you play baseball then why are you so concerned with basketball? Alabama finished 11th out of 12 teams this year. Anything else you want to know? Looks like you didn't have too many more immature comments to make.

i just like to go watch..basketball is a fun sport to watch. well there is one thing else i want to know, isnt there someone else from around here going to alabama, or maybe that was in middle tennessee?

  9. Parrothead14,

Good to hear from you and thanks for the kind wishes. I'll pass them on to CH...I try to discourage her from getting on here this time of year especially when these types of remarks are made and they slam friends.

    TH

    hmm..you must be a parent of caitlin's

  10. I saw the game on Friday night and the officiating wasn't as bad as you Morristown West people say it was. The only reason the foul ratio was so significant in the second half was because Mo. West had to foul in order to get the ball back. Quit cryin about the officiating, they didn't lose the ball game. You all should be proud of your girls for making it to the final 16 teams in the state.

As for Cait, she has been extremely sick the past two weeks, throwing up, running a fever, coughing, and she now has a sinus infection. She is not out of shape by any means, and if you think that, then there is something seriously wrong with your vision. She generally plays the whole game and never sits down. I don't think the Alabama coaches would commit an out of shape player to play in the SEC (which is the best league in the country). So stop knocking the SEC as well....Where is Phipps going to college? She is a good player, but don't start knocking someone who deserves the scholarship she has EARNED to go to Alabama. And for shutting her down, she had 15 points and 13 rebounds, was 11-12 from the line, as well as helped handle the ball the entire night. She earned her points by getting to the free throw line.

As for ballplaya06, you must play on the Morristown West team, and be around the age of 18 because that is about how immature your post is.

the name is "playball" and no..i play baseball, used to at least.

by the way..what place did alabama get in the SEC this year?

  11. Antoine Wiggins (Jr., 6'7"). I believe he was coming off of knee surgery at that time. He is simply the best hs basketball player in East Tennessee. Of course, this is my opinion. Over the last 15 games or so he is averaging 20+ pts, 10 or so rebounds, 4 or 5 steals and 3 or 4 blocks a game. Ask DB, Science Hill, Red Bank, etc., who Wiggins is - they know.

November basketball games don't really mean that much, do they. Finally, is Wiggins the D1 basketball player you are referring to ?

I agree that he is the best player in East Tennessee, i've seen him play many times this season and he's stepped his game up even more since the tournament has started. I can't wait to see the look on Powell's fans when Wiggins dunks on them tomorrow night! good luck to the Devils!

  12. So you think you shut Hollifield down......well she scored 15 pts and had 13 rebounds and she was sick and "puked" 5 times during the game. She sat out most of the 2nd quarter in foul trouble. It was a solid team victory by the Panthers....inside / outside and solid shooting from the foul line which usually wins games. It was your home court with your tri-cities officials (all three are out of the tri-cities association). You got all the calls in the first half and we got a few calls in the second. Quit crying about the game, it's history. You have a very fine team and should be proud of their accomplishments. Wonder what the score might have been if Caitlin were well?

She must have been pretty sick if she threw up 5 times and didnt even play the whole 2nd quarter. If she was throwing up because she was tired then she must not be in shape. You have players like Phipps that play all 32 minutes and i didnt see her running to a trash can. May i remind you that she only had 2 field goals, so 11 of her points came from free throws. I think mo west did a pretty good job shutting her down for someone who is playing in the SEC in the future. Powell is going to have a hard time getting through the first round playing Cleveland, one of their star players just returned from an injury so watch out :thumb:
