  1. Setscreen, I appreciate your post and mentioning the RUMOR and I appreciate Triathletemom for setting the record straight for the 11 ATHLETES that compose the 15's Heartbreakers. As in many cases, athletes play two sports and in this case for this group to reach the level of play it has along with playing another is outstanding. But to have a coach who realizes that this is real life and is important to the development of the players is equally outstanding. Only players with better skills would be able to do it. After all, they played 6 ball games that week end plus games in the other sport they participated in. They enjoyed doing it.

At a time now, when the TSSAA is getting involved in dictating and restricting the way that multisport athletes can compete in the summer when there are reasonable coaches in summer programs that understand that there are athletes that would like to hone their skills is very refreshing. Will they reach the level of some teams currently picked as the best? maybe not. Will they, in their own mind, reach the level that will make them feel good about themselves. You betcha. Can they play at another level? yep. Is there a need for other Mark Springer's who is unafraid to try out of the box experiments for the sake of the student/athlete? I hope so and there may be others.

I posted this so the RUMOR could be set straight. My daughters also play mulitple sports so I understand. Thanks for the info!!!

  2. Sunday, in the 15 and under finals, the HEARTBREAKERS beate the ELITE by about 8 points in a very hard fought game.

I heard that the Heartbreakers played with 7 girls all weekend and then for the championship game the picked up three girls? One of the parents from the Heartbreakers told someone they picked the girls up from Murfresboro High School. I don't know the facts it could just be a RUMOR. Does anyone know the facts?

  3. The 11u Xtreme won the Southern Starz Super Regional to earn a trip to the nationals in Springfield. The defeated the Alabama Twisters 77-72 in overtime!

I think that means all 11u teams going to state will earn a trip to the nationals?

    Tennessee will be well represented!

  5. Alright, Listen Up everybody! Here's the most accurate scouting report on the Lady Raiders. The Oragenge team has had trouble with their back court. However, it's not due to lack of tallent ( These guards are tops in the state), But the girls just havent had the opportunity to gel. This team does have some size in the paint with 2 5'8" big girls, these two work very well together in coach Gardner's 2 post system. Out on the wing there is some absolute pure tallent, the hassler kid is as athletic as it gets. Deffensively- these girls wont be blown out by any team this season and that is accredited to some great deffense. This team hussles that's the bottom line. The Lady Raiders dont match up well with a big team that runs the floor. These girls dont have trouble getting back but the size ( not only hieght but strength) really hurt them in the phi slamma jamma c-ship. The one thing that will bring this team certain success is balance. The pressure has been on the post play throughout these first few games. If they can get some scoring out of the backcourt to go along with their great post play then these girls are a sure thing!

What age group are you talking about?

  6. my child plays for the tennessee express and I also keep a set of books for each game. In the charles davis game, our team had 9 team fouls. in our first game with shelbyville sports shop who could have received home cooking , but did not the tn express had 10 team fouls, In our 2nd game vs. memphis elite tn express had 7 team fouls. in our third game against the storm who we lost to we had 11 team fouls and in our 4th game against the southern statrz we had 5 team fouls in our ffifth game vs. louisville jauguars we had 7 team fouls and in the charles davis game # 6 we had 9 team fouls and in our last game against the storm who we lost to for a 2ns time we had 9 team fouls. there were no games where we did not have any fouls. Our starting 5 girls have been playing together for 4 years and try very hard not to foul, they have not been taught to play wild basketball, but have been taught to play controlled basketball and have been taught to play their positions very well to stay out of foul trouble. My daughter had 4 fouls in one of the games, so please stop undermining their success as a team by saying they receive special treatment. As far as the Charles Davis team goes we have beat them at least 3 times (twicce last year & once this year) I guess they can't get past that and want to blame some one for their loss instead of saying the express played a better game than they did and won. I have nothing personal against any team or coach, but when we lose games such as the 2 we lost to the storm we do

not go and cry foul play we were cheated out of a win, the simple truth is we lost they had a beter game and won fair & square. The storm is a great team and has a great coach, I do not feel that any team last weekend in 11U received home cooking or special treatment. I think the teams that played well came out on top.

I am very dissapointed that adults would get on this site and attempt to undermine a childs basketball team in this way. There was alot of rough play in this the 11u division and yes the charles davis team in my opinion plays uncontrolled basketball which leads to fouls, but I as a parent would never personally attack someones team by saying the things that have been said on this site. I hope we can all be adults from now on. !!!!!!

could you please give me the scores when you guys played the storm

    thanks

  7. The Trotters website shows a different champion in this age group as follows:

    3/19/2006 F 2006 11U Lady Trotters 59 Panthers 23

    F 2006 11U Lady Trotters 53 S.E.D. Eagles 47

F 2006 11U Lady Trotters 60 Tn Extreme 42 Cleveland Blitz Championship Game

    3/18/2006 F Tn Extreme 56 2006 11U Lady Trotters 47

    F 2006 11U Lady Trotters 58 Tn Ladies 34

    3/17/2006 F 2006 11U Lady Trotters 51 S.E.D. Eagles 43

    Which is correct???

The Trotters web page is wrong, The 11u Xtreme went undefeated this past weekend at the Blitz. I am sure it was just a mistake.
