  1. You obviously have not been paying attention to what I do, on a weekly basis I give AC fans the statisticle breakdown of the 2 teams playing that week for entertainment, then I go on to give MY opinion on how the game will turn out, many people seem to appreciate what I do and I also do it for other teams as well when members ask so you sir need to take a step back and take a deep breath and stop trying to create arguments where there is none to have, read the start of the thread and you will realize this. If u dont like the numbers I post than dont read them, I dont make any of it up, nor do I bost my predictions solely on them

I'm not trying to devalue the stats and information you put out because they are accurate and informational, my point was simply to ask putting stats from past games/rankings aside, what is your gut feeling about how this game will play out without looking at past games or rankings?

  2. Rankings have been updated for AC and Gibbs:

    National: AC: 1,197 Gibbs: 2,671

    State: AC: 38 Gibbs: 80

    5A: AC: 7 Gibbs: 17

Anybody can throw out numbers, but their just that numbers on a page with no relevance to an actual game. So, does that mean Gibbs should simply forfeit because somebody has them ranked lower than their opponent? I would argue it would mean they would try harder to beat AC. Those numbers are only as good as the paper their printed on, created solely for armchair quaterbacks like you and I to debate. Throw the numbers out and actually give an honest opinion about how you feel this game will go. My thought, it will be a defensive game, with a low score, however I do feel that Gibbs is far better than the stats portray and could very well stun the home crowd with a loss.

  3. Can fulton slow down the gibbs offense?

Hopefully, but, not optimistic. We cannot seem to stop the run, cannot seem to create positive offense. Our only saving grace, maybe, if the stars line up for us, team speed may be the difference. No matter what happens, Gibbs is riding a wave right now, and we may not be able to stop them. Good luck to both teams.,

  4. Congrats Panthers! Looking like you will be #1 this week when the AP poll comes out. Relish the moment, but then forget about it and set your sights on the next opponent.

Sounds like Karns hung tough and found a way to slow down the Panther ground attack (minus Mobley). Thats what I'm talking about. Congrats. Play hard, hang tough, keep working and good things will happen sooner than later.

Now that is a classy post, so therefore I retract and apologize for my earlier assumption that you were classless for previous comments. It is statements like that, that almost make me pull for Powell. Good luck in the rest of the season (most likely 10-0) and a deep run into the playoffs. If your lucky enough to get to state, stop and enjoy it, we have been trying to get back for 4 years now, and are beginning to forget what it is like, so enjoy it, relish it and never forget it.

  5. I'm honestly very happy for Karns that they have won a couple of games, Lord knows that you guys need something good to happen occassionally. IF the day ever comes that the Beavers are a powerhouse I will honestly stand and clapp for you, may even attend a game.

But right now you are looking down the barrell of a gun. I say approach it like the Alamo. Play hard, rally around each other, be noble, ... but in the end you will find that you are completely surrounded and the end is inevitable. Try to find some "games within a game" goals, like keeping the score within ?? points, to give you something to work towards. Not withstanding a COMPLETE melt down from Powell along with all the other demons such as turnovers and penalties, this game is just not going to be very pretty. Of course that is just my humble opinion. Keep working hard :thumb:

Gee, is it your arrogance or patrionizing attitude that struck a cord with me. How dare you talk down to a post from a Karns fan, on what merit do you base your opinion. Yes Powell will most likely win this game, but to sit on high and tell this person to look for the "game within a game," and they will be "looking down the barrel of a gun" reeks of a classless individual. When you can reach the same level as Alcoa, Maryville or Fulton that have won mutiple state titles, then you can lecture another fan with class, until then take your wins with grace, your losses with class and always remember your never guaranteed that state title.

There have been many teams that thought they were guaranteed a win simply because of their skill, we were one, earlier in the year when we underestimated Powell. Don't underestimate another team, or you could be looking at the scoreboard at the end of the game, like we did, and think "what just happened."

  6. I know this is off topic, but word is that Clinton will have to forfeit the Halls game due to an ineligible player. Has anybody else heard that? I hope that is not the case, I really would like Clinton to be undefeated going into the post season(providing they take care of business against Anderson County). They have a great team and I would hate to see them take a forfeit for somebody else's mistake.

  7. In the past 7 or 8 years, I can't tell you how many times Powell's great expectations got the best of them. It is very difficult for teenagers to meet those expectations, especially when you are "the hunted." Clinton has the same question marks that Powell had a few years ago under Larry Stevens, and I wonder how the Dragons will respond. Depth was a huge issue for the Dragons last year (just like those pre-Matt Lowe Panthers), and I have to think that it will be a big factor again this season. That said, I still think that with Clinton's star power, they are the team to beat in this region.

As far as Powell is concerned, I'm curious to see how their offensive and defensive line play works out this season. Kier Houston made up for a lot of the mediocre line play last year, and I wonder how the line will perform without him this season. The two-platoon system will be in full effect once again, and that will definitely help. I'm not a fan of using those "big-uglies" on both sides of the ball, and Matt Lowe's system has proven that a two-platoon system (in high school) will wear down your opponents. Last year's Clinton-Powell game is a sterling example of that.

On another note, how is the new stadium coming along? Does anyone have any information on how it will look?

I was at Powell yesterday so my son could go to football camp. All the footings are in place and the metal for the stands had just been delivered. Everyone is optimistic that everything will be in place for the first home game. They still have a lot to finish before the stands will be useable.

  8. Has anybody heard of an "East/West" game to be played at Carson-Newman this weekend?(Dec 15) If so what time?, and how much for admission? Thanks

Ps, Congrats to David Lispcomb on a well played game. Hope my Falcons can see you again next year.

  9. For all those bragging that Fulton will beat AE, I commend you on your enthusiasm. But for me, AE scares me, they are a threat no matter how you look at them. To dismiss them only because you beat them earlier in the season is crazy. As for me I am going to cautiously pick Fulton by 6.

In regard to the AE win, congrats, it truly makes me happy to see once and again that Catholic is beatable, and that Knoxville will have two public schools to represent them in the next round.

    GO FALCONS!!!

  10. Sorry Turtle but you are wrong .... AE finished 3rd in region last year ... the REGION2 1st and 3rd place teams are in one side of bracket and REGION 2's 2nd and 4th are in the other and visa versa for REGION 1 teams ... Ruse was correct ... 1st round Carter / AC and Fulton / Rutledge winner plays each other .. the other side Catholic / Gibbs and AE / Seymour and winners play each other .... I studied on it !!!! If you dont believe me look at the bracket on TSSAA website ... www.tssaa.org .... both game will be tough .... Fulton / AC will be close this time I think .. and Catholic / AE might also .... the only place I have paid to park was at Catholic in playoff game a couple years ago .... never heard of charging for parking during regular season .....

Just wondering, Is it legal to make you pay to park at a public school? I understand having to pay at catholic since it is private, but my tax dollars go into the funding of the school system. So, why should I have to pay again for something I've already payed for to begin with? Also, what can happen if I refuse to pay, but park there anyway?

  11. If anyone goes to this scrimmage in Canton,NC please post your thoughts on how it went .... Fulton is supposed to go against highly touted Pisgah High and South Greene against Tuscola I think .... mainly interested in Fulton and if their line play has improved or not .... I would say Pisgah would be a physical type team , one that might give Falcons a tough test for sure .....

Is it on Fulton's radio station?

  12. That is exactly what I thought. The person starting this thread knew exactly what they were doing. Just trying to stir it up and get a reaction. From outside the thread I thought it might be someone trying to gage South Doyles team or some attempt at an intelligent conversation but I can see there was not any intelligence at all behind starting this so I will move on.

Then by all means MOVE ON! The reason for the question was that I saw some of the South Doyle players at the big man contest in Powell, to say the least I was surprised at their size and agility. So in effect the question was a valid question to ask. But maybe you can attempt to add valuable insight to this thread, or simply MOVE ON!
