In the 2nd qtr, Giles outscored Columbia, 15-7, as both Young and Marqueissa Davidson each had 5 as Rachel Peery led Columbia with a three as CC led at the half, 31-25. In the 3rd qtr, CC outscored GC, 20-19, as Owens had 7, Carol Lampley and Ellie Forster each had 4 and Peery hit another three while GC's Davidson had 9 pts and both Omega Garrett and Keosha Wisner each had 5 pts with a three as CC led 51-44. In the 4th qtr, both teams had 15 as CC's Perry and Maleika Claybounre each had 4 with a three, Lampley added 4, and Owen hit 2 of 6 FT's while GC's Davidson led the Lady Bobcats with 8 as Columbia Central took the win, 66-59.

It was an exciting, fast-paced game by two good teams that could have gone either way. I was impressed by the post play of CC's LaTeira Owens and GC's Vee Young, but Young fouled out in the 4th qtr that hurt GC's chances. Power forwards CC's Carol Lampley and GC's Marqueissa Davidson also had good games as Lampley led CC with assists and Davidson hit 10 of 10 FT's. Guard play was equally impressive as CC's Rachel Peery hit 3 threes and GC's Omega Garrett hit a three. These team will meet again in Pulaski near the end of the season on Feb. 8, 2007 and I plan to be there to watch the teams as they approach post season play.

Rachel Peery also had a great block.
