1. That's a good assumption from seeing adkins a few times and stem only once. The only problem with your assumption is that as Juniors they both got action from pro scouts and i'm sure they've only gotten better over the fall and winter so that probably means more pros keeping an eye on them

As I said , I saw Stem in the fall and Adkins in the late summer .I hope both continue to get better and have alot of scouts look at them. Good luck guys.

  2. Let me brag on District 8AA...

Adam Adkins of Goodpasture is pretty crafty. He signed a scholarship with UT this fall. Lefty with great control and a decent curve, but he always keeps you guessing which makes him very tough to hit, although he only throws mid-80s.

Stem (Western Kentucky signee) from DCA is one of the best I've seen, but not many have heard of him... a tall righty who throws consistently in the low 90s (topping out at about 93) with two nasty breaking balls. He can keep you guessing as well, but IMO he doesn't have to to beat you. He has struggled with control though.

I can't wait to see this matchup...

Look for pro scouts when these two face each other!

I have seen Adkins several times ahd he is more of a low 80s guy.I think he would have pitched alot earlier at a smaller school.Stem I saw this fall and did not see anything in the 90s and his control was all over the place. He will be a work in progress at Western.I dont believe any pro scouts will be looking at either of these right now . Maybe in a couple of years.Good luck to both.

  3. Dang, that was crummy. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

I hear thats the way it goes there. I also hear there are problems with dads being too much involved with the program.Surley they would give the UT signee the #1 spot and the soph and the junior the #2 & 3 spots. The Bucs are really going to have to hit the ball better than they have in the past. The few games I have seen hitting is were they really struggle.Do they have a hitting coach? If so is he the same hitting coach they have had over the past few years?

  4. Who do Hendersonville and Beech have returning this year? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Beech lost over 10 seniors . Two excellent pitchers. The young Bucs are really going to have to step it up this year to have a chance.Good luck

  5. Upcoming Senior Pitcher for East Robertson gives verbal to Vandy. It seems Vandy will have two very good aces, Sonny and Will. Sonny and Will already play together on a travel team in Brentwood. Here is the link Clinard gives verbal to Vandy

Note: Only bout 1/3 of the story is about him, I think the story got combined, it starts with him but ends about 1/3 of the way down

Great job . We are so proud of you.You must have had some really great coaches in the past. ( Say Hey Willie )

  6. QUOTE(catsbackr @ May 30 2007 - 08:38 PM) 826469337You're kidding right?

    2 words: change up.

Just as effective in younger leagues and exact same motion as a fast ball.

Amen catsbackr , the change up is a great pitch.

  7. QUOTE(justafanman22 @ May 23 2007 - 08:28 AM) 826465113Bottom line is SD is good...Smyrna is good. It will be a great game...a low-scoring game. I am with Wing-Man. Too close to call.

Its going to be a great game , good luck Smyrna

  8. QUOTE(eagle26 @ May 15 2007 - 02:27 PM) 826459573Yeah, me too. As someone has said, the coach obviously knows. My understanding is that he wants to hold that info for their banquet and reveal to the team and families then.

Thanks eagle26 . Maybe everyone can relax ,and hope all goes well for the Bucs.Lots of good players.

  9. QUOTE(eagle26 @ May 16 2007 - 09:26 AM) 826460173I'm pulling for Smyrna and MJ to advance and know that they can, but........... "DECIDEDLY better" than Overton & Franklin?

All four are good teams . Ihave to agree with eagle26 . Good luck to all.

  10. QUOTE(sluggo5 @ May 15 2007 - 08:14 AM) 826459361I see that no one from Beech has posted there all-district players. Why dont you just ask coach Shelton ? Im sure he will tell you.

Buccaroos All-District : Bob Thompson,Rodney dangerfield, and last but not least Wee Thompson. Stack um up Boys.

  11. QUOTE(thevet10 @ May 11 2007 - 05:19 PM) 826457487does any one know about Beech....all district??

I see that no one from Beech has posted there all-district players. Why dont you just ask coach Shelton ? Im sure he will tell you.

  12. QUOTE(BabiesAndMemories @ May 14 2007 - 11:27 AM) 826458879The East Robertson-Cascade baseball game is at 4 p.m. in Wartrace. The Cascade-East Robertson softball game is 7 p.m. in Cross Plains. I doubt there will be much bleacher space available despite the game time. If you have a chair, bring it. If you have a tall horse, ride it.

Anybody have any stats on Clinard or know where to get them? I think Cascade has about four kids hitting over .400, including Bowman being over .500.

They are going to need them against Clinard . Im sure it will be a great game.

  13. QUOTE(cascade11 @ May 14 2007 - 06:20 AM) 826458754Thanks for the positive support Chapel Hill!

Cascade will face a real man tonight. Good luck Will.

  14. QUOTE(BulldogDad1 @ May 13 2007 - 10:06 PM) 826458695Smyrna goes to Clarksville Monday at 7 for the region Semifinals. Who does everyone think will come out on top.

Smyrna will take this one . Good luck Sonny

  15. QUOTE(REDSMAN @ May 10 2007 - 09:39 AM) 826456351IT IS ALWAYS A COACHING ISSUE FOR SOME. I BELIEVE COACH SHELTON, COACH DARNELL, AND COACH NEAL TO BE EXCELLENT COACHES. AS A MATTER OF FACT, EACH COACH IN 9AAA IS EXCELLENT IN MY OPINION. OF COURSE, I AM ALSO A COACH; SO I AM SURE THAT WHAT I SAY IS NOT IMPORTANT TO SOME.

HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE - 9AAA IS BRUTAL. BEECH, SMYRNA, AND MT. JULIET ARE ALL EXCELLENT. I THOUHGT OUR TEAM (GALLATIN) WAS VERY ATHLETIC AND EXCELLENT AT TIMES. HENDERSONVILLE WAS VERY TOUGH AT TIMES. LAVERGNE WAS TOO. WILSON CENTRAL WAS YOUNG, BUT THEY WON A BIG GAME IN THE TOURNEY. I PROMISE YOU THE REASON BEECH LOST WAS NOT COACHING. IT WAS BECUASE AN ALREADY EXCELLENT MT. JULIET TEAM WAS A BIT BETTER THAT DAY.

Thank you redsman and sportsbserver for your reply I enjoy reading your replys. This issue is not a coaching issue . Between the white lines all three are excellent coaches and excellent men and did a great job this season. This is a personal issue which I do not wish to share on coach t. This is an issue that only past and present Bucs parents and players are aware of . Like I said before hopefully it will resolve itself.

  16. QUOTE(werazzlin @ May 9 2007 - 10:58 AM) 826455394Beech has a bunch of great players, they have not learned to play as a team. The egos on the Beech team took a big hit tonight.

Not only that , they still have a certain coaching issue to get resolved. Hopefully it will resolve itself .There is a cancer among the Buccaroos. Good luck class of 2008.

  17. QUOTE(catsbackr @ Apr 26 2007 - 12:14 PM) 826445947OK, I'll try one more time.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS KID? WAS HE INJURED?

    Just a simple question, sluggo.

Nothing major this time just alot os soreness.I can see you dont have a clue about pitching.

  18. QUOTE(billybuck @ Apr 26 2007 - 11:12 AM) 826445891I did not say it was the coaches fault if the kid does not go to the next level. I just said a coaches job is to TRY and develop them to do that if that is thier goal. How can anyone say that a kids arm cannot be overused. If it is thier last year and the season is on the line I would throw to and did. I am not blaming coaches for kids getting to the next level I am one.

Great job Billybuck , you are 100 percent correct. They do need to try to develop these players and not tare their arm off.

  19. QUOTE(catsbackr @ Apr 26 2007 - 10:15 AM) 826445838So, what's your point? Did this kid's arm fall off or what happened?

Are you kidding me. That kid could have been seriously injured. Remember I said he is a freshman. Leave it to this coach he may never play high school baseball.

  20. QUOTE(eaglefan85 @ Apr 13 2007 - 11:43 AM) 826436746What do you think about coaches that over use high school pitchers? Example; Pigeon Forge had a kid that threw a complete 10 inning game about 2 weeks ago. Coach stated in local paper that he only threw something like 100-105 pitches. People in attendence said he threw at least 150 pitches of not over 200. Any thoughts?

One of the worst cases I have ever seen just happened at a local school . There is a DAD coaching a local freshman team. They have a pitcher that throws pretty consistant at 86 mph as a freshman , not his son. This young man has a chance to play at the next level. This DADDY COACH pitches this young man 7-innings 120 pitches. The next night throws this young man 3- innings around 30 pitches brings him back the next night for 2-innings for 15 pitches. This is were coaches need to be on the field and parents need to be in the stands.Oh did I fail to mention that this DADS son is below average and never comes out of the game. See the big picture !!!!!!!!!!

  21. QUOTE(justafanman22 @ Apr 26 2007 - 08:26 AM) 826445745Exactly like I said. Game swings on an error. Smyrna scores an unearned run to win it. But Beech's only run was unearned. Also, I still stand by the "neither team is definitively better." Grey may be an equalizer but Smyrna got 10 legit hits off of Brady Frey. But Frey made a believer out of me for sure. He had average stuff at best last night...not his best stuff, and he still found a way to keep them in the game. Great situational pitching and he deserves a big hand for that effort. That kid is mentally tough and will be excellent for a long time. The funny thing is that everyone said Smyrna was weaker from top to bottom. The bottom of the line-up is where their runs came from. Beech is good...very good. Smyrna is good...very good. Both have great pitching. Both hit the ball. But don't penalize a team and call them average because they have a great pitcher. Many teams have won the state tournament with one solid pitcher. You just tip your cap to them because they are the best that year. Sonny has started 4 district games now and Smyrna is 3-1 in those games. Other pitchers have started 5 games and Smyrna is 5-0 in those district games. They can win even when Sonny is not pitching. That doesn't sound like a one player team to me.

I agree with you justafanman. It was a great game and will be every time they play this year but last night it was the Bucs defence that kept them in this game. I do tip my hat to the Bulldogs . They hit the ball 1-9 and Sonny had good stuff last night throwing from 91-94. Congratulations Bulldogs.

  22. QUOTE(eagle26 @ Apr 25 2007 - 11:12 PM) 826445639Great game by Gray! Key stat for him: 10 K's. Beech needed to be much more disciplined against the tough Bulldog fireballer. They ended up leaving 7 runners on base.

Frey fought hard but dug too many holes on counts and then the Smyrna hitters did a fine job of making that pay off. Except for stellar plays by the Beech second baseman, first baseman, and rightfielder, Smyrna might have scored more runs early.

Good battle by the Bucs. Congratulations to Smyrna.

Very well put eagle26 . It was the bucs defence that was on fire last night. The score could have been alot different with the Bulldogs getting 10 hits. The Bucs defence held the Bulldogs to just two runs. Congratulations to both teams for what could possibly be the best 9AAA game of 2007.

  23. QUOTE(justafanman22 @ Apr 25 2007 - 08:43 AM) 826444870This is the most boring thread ever!!!! Lots of insight. (hint of sarcasm) . This is the biggest game in district 9AAA this year. Beech may hit Grey this time. Smyrna may just as easily hit anybody that Beech can throw at them. It will all depend on what kind of stuff each pitcher has that night. If Sonny has his "A" game Beech may no get a hit. If whoever Beech throws has their "A" game, Smyrna may not get a hit. Anyone who comes out and says "Beech wins easy" or "Smyrna wins easy" is crazy. Neither team is definitvely better than the other team. That's the beauty of baseball. I am going to this game and I will sit there with absolutely no idea who is going to pull it out. This is a game where there is no favorite. In Las Vegas this would be classified as "pick 'em". I am expecting a low scoring game, and those can swing on the smallest things from a booted grounder, a failed bunt attempt, walks, anything. If anyone claims they can predict this game they're lying. This may be one of the best High School games in a long time....and I can't wait.
