  1. I don't have a dog in this fight and our coach didnt have a kid on our team so he got criticized about other things! I mentioned in a previous post that this may be an issue that Coach Skogen at Temple may have to deal with but no one else I guess thought that that mattered. All I know is that it is pretty STUPID to be talking about people who are not even playing anymore and all I remember is that when we played CSAS in the Region Tyler Dragoo lit us up with five or six threes and did the same against Grace. I remember him as being one of the only guards that they had to hit a three consistently. Maybe the people who think he shouldnt have played should write about how good they were or are in high school! Talk about this year, last year doesnt matter.
  2. Skogen and Eldridge were both good players last year, but comparing their defensive abilities makes no sense. In key games, they both were seldom if ever seen to be guarding the other teams best player. Eldridge is gone, but Skogen will continue to play only enough defense to keep from getting in foul trouble.
  3. We used to play Berean and people in the Christian school league. We found out last year that it takes a while to adjust to real high school basketball. One of the reasons that I think that we will be better this year is because we know what to expect and that is going to help us. THe middle school guards that Grace got to come there may be good or may be scared when they start playing high school ball and get pressured. I know that people talk about Temple's guards or CSAS guards but even our guys can put physical pressure that can affect the game. Talk all you want, it will not be a two team race!
  4. The Chosen One said that South Pittsburg had almost everyone returning, but on their Senior Night they sure looked to have a lot of seniors. How many do they lose from last years team?
  5. I wrote yesterday on another post that I was at both the CSAS vs Temple and CSAS vs Grace games. All I hear in our district and region is Temple and Grace. I am not saying that both were very good last year and one beat CSAS by a basket and one lost to them. What I think is not being said is that there are a lot of questions about both this year. Sure Grace has gotten a lot more athletic at he guard spots this year but it is unknown how it will play out at the competitive high school level playing against people older and more experienced. The kid from Berean has been playing against TACS competition and I remember what that was like. Temple has a new coach. Will he play his youngest son more this year? Who will be getting all the shots? Is Skogen the coach going to lose control when the going gets tough like he did at times last year as an assistant? Will Temple's seniors trust a coach that is the head coach for the first time? Will someone get injured in football for either Grace or Temple? Will CSAS miss Powell or will they be quicker and deeper without him playing a bunch of guards? Too many questions for October. I know that Silverdale will be better and that CSAS, Grace, and Temple are all good teams but in the end it is all about matchups. That is why we play the games.
  6. For the first time ever, Grace will start two non-white guards in the backcourt. One of the kids went to Grace last year and dressed as an 8th grader, the other is Geoff Herman's son from Tyner Middle. Both are freshman. They will also start a kid from Berean who is 6'10" or something. Another transfer is from out of town.
  7. Silverdale will be constantly changing defenses which worked at times last year against Grace and will be much more affective now that Grace has so little experience.
  8. Silverdale will be much improved from as far as experience and talent overall. I am not saying that we are one of the best teams, but we will be better. I was glad to see Legend bring up the fact that the last time Temple and CSAS played, CSAS won! Sometimes we get tired of hearing about how good Temple is and how good Grace is when other teams in our district are getting better and going to be good. In the region, CSAS is a team that Grace and Temple had both better to be ready to play when they meet. I was at the Grace and Temple games at CSAS and Grace was better last year and won by a point or two and CSAS shot terrible and played bad and still beat Temple.
  9. Temple wanted to play at Engel since they practice and play there but it was a no brainer for CSAS to want to play at home........after about two innings this one should be over!
  10. In only their first year in District 6-A, the Patriots of Arts and Sciences are district champions in the regular season. I say hats off to Coach Brandon Lowry and his team for this great accomplishment!
  11. I agree that Mc Minn Central would have been very successful in class A this year and in year's past, but to say that Grace and Temple are the only good A teams around is a bit short sighted. Last year, CSAS beat you and lost by twelve at your gym. ...they also beat Temple and lost to Grace by a basket! They are "loaded" with sophomores and will be a power next year as they have been in years past. Temple and Grace would find things different in AA....but you play where they put you!
  12. Grace was just worn out.....they played great for the first two games. Union City did a great job in preparing to play Grace, they did not have to worry about their first two games so time was on their side. Still, they did what the had to do and are State Champs! Grace represented themselves well and made all of Chattanooga proud. They do not have to worry about going to Vance Avenue or anywhere else to see a picture to know that they did themselves proud this year. Next year will be different in Chattanooga basketball as it is every year. We are going to be better as are many other schools in our region.
  13. Maybe people in the West will start realizing that basketball is still played and played well in the East! Next year it won't just be Grace and Temple, but overlook Arts and Sciences and see what happens! They have the athletes to compete with the West and they are all young and hungry......we found out the hard way!
  14. Great job Grace Academy! Good luck tomorrow in the championship game!
  15. Dontay Hampton, Hassaan Cobb started for CSAS as sophomores. They killed us. They also have big man Brian Ball, Michael Johnson, and Curtis Mc Koy. Nobody has as many good sophmores in Single A as they do.
  16. I am surprised that no one is talking about CSAS. They have a ton of talent coming back next year. They beat Temple this year and barely lost to Grace by a point! I know that they beat us real bad at our gym. I think that they only loose a couple of players and played a lot of sophomores this year.
