1. This pretty much sums up your post....but thanks.

Oh! And yall got BEAT by Manassas (by 8pts I believe), but somehow you have it in your head that you should've won by 25? I will have a double shot of whatever you had.

Thanks for the prediction, but I am pretty sure we will just play the game out and take that result. I doubt we will just hand the game over just because you get an opinion today.

That's Priceless.......I love that reply...."just because you get an opinion today" I'm with you, lets just play the game out and see what happens.....Maybe this idiot will keep us entertained until game time.

From an outsider looking in, Westmoreland should walk away with this one hands down. I saw Station Camp play Lafayette (there are 2 schools in Macon County) and was not impressed at all. The Lady Tigers should have beat that team but seemed to play so flat and with no emotion. I hate games like that, why not just get the ball a play. They have the size and ability to get the ball inside, good shooters outside, can handle the ball. It looks as though they are all detached, not a unit that plays hard or is motivated at all. Kinda sad....come on coach carter, you know how to win show the Lady tigers how to win. As for Station Camp, sometimes a team can play down to the competiton which may be why they didn't look as well as I had heard they were.

Laken Leonard for Miss Basketball A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you do not know about Kayci Ferriss, then why comment?

Again, she has less help than Laken, she plays in the toughest district in the state, she gets physically abused night in and night out by double and triple teams, she does make excellent grades, she is an excellent young lady, and she has had to overcome more than any 20 other children I know with her family circumstances.

Furthermore, Kayci has willingly played thru tremendous injury for her teams sake, now that is character.

Fortunately Kayci and Laken are not competing for the same title. As a matter of fact they are great friends and I know they are rooting for each other.

This is not a cumulative award and Kayci's stats alone stand for them self. But as everyone else who does not have the stats to back up their arguments for their canidate they talk about their favorite candidate and their heart and character and their story.

Kayci has the best stats, there is NO doubt, but she also has the best story.

Kayci Ferriss for Miss Basketball AA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERYONE PLEASE LIMIT THEIR COMMENTS TO WHAT THEY KNOW, AND TRY TO KEEP IT POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all, i was only responding that most were picking ferris and leonard. I said I didn't know ferris but did know leonard. the comment was made about character and academics because those are part of the criteria and my point was that if these girls were judged on this laken should do really well. Sorry if you misunderstood or my post wasn't clear. However, nothing negative was said about your smith county girl so get over yourself. I see you didn't mind pointing out ferris's character or grades just as I did laken's. Actually should ferris and leonard both recieve Ms. Basketball that would be great for Middle Tn Basketball. Sorry if you misunderstood my post but I was stating my opinion about Laken.

Smith County has some good talent surrounding ferris as well and you should probably limit your negative comments

  4. QUOTE(Termite @ Feb 20 2007 - 01:45 PM) 826381263While I may agree that Laken Leonard may be the best Freshman I saw too, there is no way Heady can compete. Heady is a good player and will only get better

at this point in time Leonard and Ferris are the best. Also each one of these bring something different to the table....so it's really hard to compare these 2.

I would put Heady and Dyer a 1/2 step behind Leonard and fERRIS

It seems most have Leonard or Ferris in the top running for the award but remember this is award is based on their basketball performance, character and academics. I truthful don't know about the character or academics of Ferris, I do know Laken Leonards academics and character are outstanding. I think Laken has nothing on her report card from school lower than a 98, now that's applying yourself on and off the court. She's a very well rounded athlete and person.

  5. QUOTE(Alan Shore @ Feb 20 2007 - 08:43 AM) 826380718I'm just wondering......if Delk wins Ms. Basketball, will they present 2 awards? One to her and one to whoever is coaching her from the stands......

yes the award will be in the form of a full ride to the college of Delks choice.

  6. QUOTE(palmersville @ Feb 19 2007 - 10:26 PM) 826380270Hilltopdawg,

I do agree with you. It should not matter if a player is a freshman or a senior - they should be given equal consideration. But a fact of life is those who vote always go on seniority historically. Sorry that is the way it is - Laken is a great player and she will be Miss Basketball in the future - not this year due to her age. Sorry, life is not always fair!

DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!

    Palmersville,

You may be right, but what if a player who deserved the award got hurt or couldn't play the next season, then it would be a shame that the decision is based on age and not on the athlete. But you sound REAL sure of what you're saying and you could be right but I hope not. I'm pulling for laken to the finish. I think she deserves the award, I think she's the best choice. Yes, that's just one opinion of many but it's mine.

  7. QUOTE(Antwan @ Feb 19 2007 - 10:24 PM) 826380261She averaged nearly 25 points...12 rebounds and 6 blocks a game. She hit 72% from the field. Nah...she didn't carry SC. Maybe she shoud have sold popcorn in the stands during halftime.

OK she averaged 25 pts per game 12 rebounds and 6 blocks.............but her team placed 4th that's why it's not surprising she didn't get district mvp..that was the point I was making

  8. QUOTE(ptguard12 @ Feb 19 2007 - 03:10 PM) 826379459Kayla Hudson should be the odds on favorite. What she has done for Gleason has been absolutely unbelievable. Andrews will be a front-runner next year. Leonard, who received a ton of publicity last year and whose stats are worthy of the nomination, is only a freshman, which will hurt her. However, her name will be on this award in the very near future.

Being a Freshman should have nothing to do with it. Being a Senior should have nothing to do with it. Lets hope the best athlete gets the honor. Laken Leonard, all around best choice for this award whether she has a chance in years to come or not. If she deserves the award this year then she should have it.

  9. QUOTE(vandyfan67 @ Feb 19 2007 - 12:56 PM) 826379252I've got:

    Laken Leonard - A

    Kayci Ferris - AA

    Anne Marie Lanning - AAA

    Glory Johnson - DII

Laken Leonard all the way. Hey she's MVP in her district too. Laken Leonard Ms. Basketball.....

  10. QUOTE(Overton County Fan @ Feb 19 2007 - 03:01 PM) 826379440Its kinda strange that Kayci Ferris is good enough to be nominated for Miss Basketball but didn't get the MVP for her district...? May just be because she is a freshman though...

Kayci Ferris is tall... She didn't get MVP in her district because she didn't even get close to carrying her team to the district championship game. Her team got 4th and to be honest she wasn't even a factor for Smith County. Macon Counties girls had her so frustrated she just took herself out of the game. Macon came together tonight they all played very good. Everyone thought Smith County would dominate but never even came close. Gregory did an outstanding job knocking down the three and she follows her shots better than most i've seen: she's always crashing the boards. Courtney Clark was a huge factor in her short corner jumpers. Ferris wasn't there to block her shots and she played her role well tonight. Conley, way to hustle. Great intensity. Wix, way to play strong down low and even with some questionable fouls you stayed the course and didn't foul out. Way to play smart and not let the big girl frustrate you. Compton did a good job taking the ball to the hole tonight with some good strong layups coming off steals. Keep it going girls. Good team effort>> Let's see how far you can take us...

  11. QUOTE(swanson71 @ Feb 18 2007 - 10:40 PM) 826378634RBS will have the best post game in the district next year because we get both Ashton and Laken back going into their 3rd year playing together down low...Tess Copas who is our first off the bench will be a Senior next year along with Sleeper who will be just a junior both are 2 really good ball players, we also have a freshman coming up those who has been to RBS jr high games knows how Layce Colter plays and will be ready to play some ball...So next year RBS isn't rebuilding we are reloading...and Crange will be good but they will not be unstoppable I garauntee you that...

swansons dead on again; rbs will be reloading with double barrels. Lets go lady dawgs.

  12. QUOTE(pdbmit @ Feb 18 2007 - 09:51 PM) 826378524I like the Owls in this one. I look for the guards to step up. Free-throws make the difference and the Owls win by 5.

If macon comes to play they will win. But they got come ready from buzzer to buzzer these girls just need to gel as a team, if they'd have done that early in the season they could have had a very good season. Hopefully Gregory can step up with some big buckets, compton and conley can fill the bucket with some hustle plays they both are can spark the team with a few of these and wix / clark have gotten close underneath. Macon has gotten some good play from bowers off the bench and she definitely got the team going in their first district game. I'm betting they'll come together, paly tough and bring the game they've been hiding all year long. Clark take care of Ferris, be strong and don't get into foul trouble. Good luck tigerettes.

  13. QUOTE(bbcrazy @ Feb 11 2007 - 04:53 PM) 826367596

RBS IS A GREAT TEAM.WE DO NEED TO REMEMBER THE WORD TEAM,LAKEN IS A GOOD PLAYER,BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD PLAYERS ON THE TEAM I THINK SHE DEMANDS A LITTLE TO MUCH ATTENTION ON THE COURT. SOME OF WHICH THE COACH SHOULD TAKE THE BLAME FOR.FACE IT SHE CAN NOT DO THIS ALONE,AND DOES NOT DO IT ALONE LETS GIVE THE OTHER GIRLS SOME CREDIT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU BIG CRY BABY. I AM SO SICK OF THE JEALOUSY THAT COMES FROM YOU BIG CRY BABIES. LAKEN DEMANDS NOTHING FROM ANYONE. SHE'S A SWEET KIND PERSON WITH GOD GIVEN TALENT. WHAT'S SHE SUPPOSED TO DO, CRAWL IN A HOLE AN HIDE. MOST KIDS, MOST ADULTS THAT HAD THE TALENT LAKEN DOES WOULD BE COCKY BUT THAT IS NOT SOMETHING ANYONE WHO WILL BE TRUTHFUL CAN LAY ON LAKEN LEONARD. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELF. I KNOW YOU HAVE A DAUGHTER PLAYING AND YOU DON'T HAVE THE COURAGE TO RAISE HER TO KNOW THAT SOMETIMES PEOPLE ARE BETTER AT CETRAIN AREAS. HEY IT'S LIFE...GET REAL...MAYBE YOU WANT TO TEACH YOUR KID HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE. LAKEN HAS TAKEN TO MUCH CRAP FROM PEOPLE WANTING TO POINT OUT THAT IT TAKES A TEAM. ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT SPORTS REALIZES THAT IT TAKES A TEAM EFFORT. LAKEN IS NO EXCEPTION AND HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO SUGGEST OTHERWISE. LAKEN HAS DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB, A FABULOUS JOB, AND YOU ARE TRIED OF HEARING HER NAME. WHY DO YOU HEAR HER NAME, BECAUSE SHE HAS A GOD GIVEN TALENT THAT IS RARE......HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOUR DAUGHTER HAD THIS TALENT AND GOT THE ATTENTION LAKEN GETS (BUT DOES NOT DEMAND) YOU'D LOVE IT. AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE LARRY WHITE, NOT PLAY HER? TELL HER TO ONLY USE HALF HER SKILLS? SHAME ON YOU. YOU SHOULD BE CHEERING LAKEN ON, JUST THINK WHAT SHE COULD DO WITH A LITTLE ENCOURAGEMENT .............THEN WE'D SEE SOMETHING BIG TIME HAPPEN IN LITTLE RBS....THAT TOWN SHOULD BE PUSHING THAT CHILD ALONG, HELPING HER TO REACH HER GOALS INSTEAD OF DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE. BUT THAT WOULD REQUIRE CHARACTER ...........LAKEN'S A GOOD KID, GREAT ATHLETE, A CHRISTIAN, THAT SHOWS TREMENDOUS CHARACTER. I AM PROUD TO KNOW HER AND FEEL REALLY BAD THAT THERE'S A FEW THAT TRY TO BEAT HER DOWN. SHE'S A GOOD KID AND YOU FOLKS ACT LIKE SHE'S GOT A DISEASE OF SOME SORT. I JUST HOPE SHE CAN SURVIVE HER HIGH SCHOOL YEARS AT RBS WITHOUT STOOPING TO THE LEVEL OF THESE JEALOUS PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES ADULTS. LAKEN KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. PEOPLE WHO KNOW YOU KNOWS THERE'S ALOT MORE TO YOU THAN BASKETBALL.....CONTINUE TO BE THANKFUL FOR YOUR ABILITY AND DON'T STOOP TO THE LEVELS OF SOME THAT WOULD LIKE NOTHING BETTER THAN TO BRING YOU DOWN.

The flu happened to her but this team better get some pride and fight or the season will be over whether she's back or not. HEART

  15. QUOTE(sydspencer @ Feb 10 2007 - 12:14 PM) 826366213

abby andrews is a great player, but you gotta mention laken leonard from red boiling springs, she can do it all .

I was intentionally going through this post hunting for laken leonard's name and was thinking what's everybody thinking, when I ran across her name. Definitely. Lake Leonard, freshmen from Red Boiling Springs, should be among the names listed here for Ms. Basketball. The statement sydspencer made "she can do it all" is very truthful. She can play any position on the floor and be very effective. From point guard to post she's got. She's a team player that wants to play for a winning team no matter whose in the spotlight. That may be some of the touchy feely stuff some of you were talking about earlier but when you're looking for a Division I player that's what it takes. Good players, awesome players with a winning attitude that creates plays from any spot on the floor. 5, 6, or 7 great players don't make a good team. great players, with a great desire to win, and wonderful attitudes make great teams. Laken has it all and should be at the top of the list for Ms. Basketball candidates. Keep it up laken, you'll get to the top even if you have to take the long road.

  16. Laken Leonard from Red Boiling Springs...

I agree with Swanson here, Laken Leonard from Red Boiling Springs is definitely in the mention for Tennessee's Top Freshmen.

#1 She's already made the 1,000 point club. Which is a feat most players don't reach in 4 years but she's made it in 2 (considering she played as an 8th grader for RBS High School.

#2 She now holds the record for highest points scored in a season at Red Boiling Springs High School which she broke a few weeks back, I believe.

#3 She plays down low and leads her team in assist. Usually the point guard or 2 guard leads their team in assist but at RBS it's Laken Leonard and don't get me wrong here, the point guard and shooting guards do a fine job for RBS. I'm just pointing out that it's uncommon for one to lead in scoring and assist during a season. Not taking anything away from anyone else but want to give Laken her due notice as she's worked hard at being a part of the Lady Bulldogs team

Now consider a freshmen that can take the basketball the length of the court with no problem, leads the team in scoring AND ASSIST that has already racked up a 1,000 with 3 years to go in her career and broke the record for most points scored in a season. She's not only in the mention as top freshmen in TN but she's ranking pretty close to starting the list.

Laken not only has things under control with her high school career, she's a top mention in the AAU ranks as well. I'd be interested in hearing about her stats with her AAU team but I bet her staying with Tiffany Woosley's AAU team is a definite. Tiffany's put a lot of time into helping Laken develop her basketball abilities and grow with her game.

Laken's been blessed with a great ability, a good support system and so far she's been able to stay healthy. Someone's doing something right with keeping this young lady grounded and focused on her future and what she wants from basketball. She's solid all the way around, let's just hope her future holds just as much spark as her past has. Laken's got an oportunity most only dream up and I look forward to watching her grow not only as a super basketball player but as the best person she can be as well. She's done a great job thus far in your young life.

Celina is definitely dangerous!! Hope we are ready for them tomorrow!

I don't think Lamar will lose any sleep over tomorrow's meet. His teams are always prepared in post season and Clay County may have a bad hang over tomorrow from what they think was a stolen game.

I BET YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ALL LOWER CASE EITHER.

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT TYPES THAT WAY. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE AS LONG AS YOU CAN READ AND UNDERSTAND IT.

I LIKE IT BECAUSE IT STANDS OUT BETTER FOR YOU OLDER PEOPLE TO READ EASIER.. I GUESS YOU CAN'T IDENTIFY ALL OF YOU CAPITAL LETTERS.

MOST OF YOU LIKE TO PUSH PEOPLES BUTTONS BUT, DO NOT LIKE IT WHEN YOU GET YOURS PUSHED BACK. JUST LIKE TYPICAL PEOPLE YOU SEE EVERYONE ELSES MISTAKES BUT LIKE MOST PEOPLE YOU DON'T SEE YOUR OWN.

I'M TRYING TO LET THE BOARD GET BACK TO THE SUBJECT, BUT I CAN'T IF YOU KEEP BEING NEGATIVE TOWARDS ME.

AGAIN, GREAT GAME TONIGHT GIRLS AND GOOD LUCK TOMMORROW NIGHT AGAINST CLAY CO.(TRYING TO LET THE BOARD GET BACK ON THE SUBJECT)

Clay County lost to Macon by 1 tonight -

  19. I'm just wandering if anyone has heard about the lame call everyone in Clay County is talking about which cost the girls from Clay County to lose the game or at least not have the opportunity to settle it on the court. From what I hear, refs called a QUESTIONABLE foul with 0.02 seconds on the clock. not even a full second and the Macon county team won with a free throw from Compton. Home Cooking for the tigerettes from what I'm hearing. I heard Clay Counties coach was very very upset with this outcome..Why not let the players decide? Did anyone see this game, I wasn't there but have gotten a lot of phone calls and believe this to be the case. Did Macon or Clay win it the first meeting and does anyone have the score from that game? Thanks I'll just wait for any responses that you knowledgable fans may have.

  20. Is there any truth to the rumor that Macon Tigers have hired a new football coach. Offensive Lineman coach? I am hearing that they have re-hired Coach Pat Dyer who was very successful with the program just a year or so ago. I just can't believe he'd return considering how he and his staff were treated while he was there. However, he was a very very good coach. One that should have never let leave. Hopefully he will get the tigers on top once again if this rumor is true. He was tough but fair and expected the players to have some class about themselves and represent the team an school well. If they didn't abide by his rules and were caught they just didn't play. Great rule but takes a big man to live by the rules sometimes. Has anyone heard the rumor?

  21. Oh yeah...Macon bennefits just as much as RBS does and hurts just as much as RBS does from the bennefit of not playing, but Macon would like us to believe that it's gonna kill us and that we need them...

I don't think Macon County cares what anyone believes. I think they want the comminity to know that this was not their idea and plainly it wasn't. Just read the response in the paper. Don Jones Larry White and surprisingly Michael Owens were the decision makers here. I just can't believe Michael would join these clowns. If the principle can't handle the stress of a heated county rivalry then how do we expect him to handle our children. White, what's his problem.... he should be just as upset as the Lafayette Coaches were that these games were even being considered to cancel. Give us a break...... it's competition no one has ever got hurt. People wreck everyday but we still drive. I have to say Coach Beam and Welch show a lot more community spirit and class simply by not supporting this move. This just make RBS look like the weak link again. Oh my goodness it's just to much stress. Good grief they are kids, kids make idol threats, IDOL threats have always surfaced. Its just part of a county rivalry. I know you say it was adults not kids. The adults didn't throw anything across the gym it was kids so when did and adult hurt any one. It was kids with bouncy balls. Give us our game back. <_<
