  1. dude I know don and I know the guys who run vandysports, all quality people who work hard. Maybe I am wrong but your reply seems to come off very abrassive.f so I cannot see why Don just came on this forum and has been nice to everyone just posed a few things for us to think about and respond to.What reason is there that chastise the modererater of vandymania when you kno he is reading it unless he is attacking you.Don lives nowhere near nashville and yet has been dedicated to covering vandy sports a sometimes daunting task for 10 years now and I for one thank him for that, but I am sure you would do a much better job.

nothing personal against him, but I go on what's been said and what I've seen. I'm sure he works hard and I hope he does justice with this ranking, but wouldn't it be served to get information from somewhere other than a board on CoachT? I'm a Smyrna alum, but I won't talk up all the Bulldogs players unless I think they deserve it. Can't say that for others that would respond to his post here.

  2. Rivals is better than Scout in everything. Also, for Vandy fans who are on these boards...VandySports.com is better than Vandymania.com. This according to a recruit that's dealt with both.

Apparently the VandySports.com guys actually live in Nashville and the ones who run Vandymania.com, don't.

They've also got a guy who works for them that goes out and actually sees a lot of the players in the midstate play.

  3. Who will be Park's backup this year? Also, I heard that Park has committed to Mississippi. Is this true? I can't find it anywhere.

If he has it must be for baseball with the possibility of football, cause last I've seen he only has a football offer from Troy State.

  4. I understand that it will be Byrnes JV or Freshmen team. I am not sure that their varsity will be @ Vanderbilt.

Yes, their varsity will be at Vanderbilt. A lot of top schools in the south will be at Vanderbilt for the Music City Classic on the 2nd and 3rd, including Byrnes and Shiloh Christian of Arkansas.

There would be more if it had one of the major sponsers like some others have had, but they are putting more into this year and more schools will be there.

  5. haha, has been?? good one kid, i do believe im still playin the sport for one of the top programs in the country... last year doesnt mean we still arent a top program, congrats on remembering our record though as its something we hear everyday so come up with something a lil less original next time if your going to put me down..

Last year won't be a rarity in the immediate future as long as Fulmer's there.

As far as the region goes, I'll pick Brentwood to win it, Franklin as runners up.

  6. I don't know what their out of region schedule is yet, but I for one think that Siegel will be a very good contender next year too.

They got a lot of their best players coming back and I think last year's success probably gave them a lot of confidence.

  7. "I was confused for a second....i didn't know the first paragraph was quoted lol..i thought you had a mood swing or something lol...but about Smotherman...I'm not gonna jump out there and say he is overrated, BUT the times I have seen him, which is about 2 or 3 games(including the game i played with him) he really didn't show me too much, i thought his performance was average, it wasn't bad, but i didn't think it was a Mr. Football, Vandy signee, performance...thats just what i saw but maybe he was a beast when i didn't see him lol.....he is big though!"

Well first, he had an injury for much of the beginning of last season. Then people were thinking of playing him at TE and some other spots..so his weight would flux. I believe that Adam won his Mr.Football award for some of what he accomplished on the field, but admittedly, it wasn't a very strong 5A pool of lineman out there, so yeah, he could've gotten that award because of maybe lack of competition or something, but the guy went out there and did perform even at maybe 80%. He got his scholarship offers for other factors than just what he did at Smyrna. If more Tennessee kids went to Nike Camps/Scout Camps/MSL Camps, they would see more opportunity come their way as well, cause that's where you get more attention, that's were you get real good times and lifting numbers that will get people to request seeing your football game films.

Adam had a good high school career at Smyrna, but he got the press he got because of other things he did. You bench 330 pounds, squat 500 pounds, you have a 33 inch vertical, run a 4.8 in the 40..you get attention.

I understand what you're saying HS, but some people have had it out for him since he told the big school no when they came calling. Before that, everyone seemed to be cool with Smo..but after that people started talking smack about him and that's BS.

He was a legit good player who got some recognition. Maybe people think it might be too much, but he wasn't "overrated", he was a good player for Smyrna and he'll be a good player in a couple of years in college too.

  8. "Replacing Smotherman won't be a problem. He was one of the most overrated players in Middle Tennessee. Look at his stats anything jump out? No it's all size and politics. Smyrna will be good but their biggest problem is the head coach. He has never beaten Riverdale of Ravenwood both of whom are scheduled for next year. Not only that he scheduled Ravenwood for Homecomming! He couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. And by the way I'm a Smyrna fan."

Whoever thinks Smotherman was overrated was a darn fool. The kid was more athletic than any other lineman in the state and that's why he got the press he got. What politics? The only politics out there was that he didn't drop Vandy and take UT's offer when they came trying to get him to reconsider his choice, and that's why he wasn't thought of more.

Oh, and about Riverdale, few schools in this freaking state have beaten so Riverdale so I think that hardly reflects on Shadowens and they've barely played Ravenwood. Smyrna will have more talent than Ravenwood this year, so..so-called Smyrna fan, show up and enjoy the win.

The Bulldogs will be up there in 06, bank on it.
