  1. Six(6) interviews were held today. No other interviews were granted. Selection to be forthcoming. When? I do not know.

FACT-As of this morning(12/ 15) the new head Coach at Unicoi Co. High School is Jerad Huskins. Announced at a Press Conference and announced at school by Principal Rebecca Love.

  2. What about Mike or Nick White at Maryville? Didn't their dad coah up there for a few years? I know Nick was a head coach at LC and did pretty well until the move up to 4A.

I haven't heard anything about either one. Mike White("stick-daddy") coached here(Unicoi Co.) in the late 70's. I coached against him while I was at Sullivan Central. He passed away several years ago. I have met and coached against his son Nick in track and field when he was at LC. Fine man just like his father. I believe he is at Maryville as an assistant.

In the system(UC) applicants granted interviews are: Glen White, Nick Lingerfelt, Jared Huskins, and Ben Evely. I have heard about others outside the system but do not know for a FACT if interviews have been granted.

    Respectfully yours,

    Coach b.

  3. Has anyone heard anything yet? What's taking so long? I thought White did a good job in the TN High game. Any candidates?

FACT-6 CANDIDATES, RUMOR-15 APPLICANTS SO FAR.

Fact-the deadline for applications and resumes was extended through today, 11/25.

  4. Coach B. knows what hes talking about. I've heard that a homer basically has the job.

I did not say that a "homer would get the job. At this point my personal opinion is, and I bow to the higher authority, only GOD knows who the next head coach at UCHS will be. Several of us are praying that the RIGHT person be selected.

  5. So is the coaching search underway now or are they gonna wait till after the holidays? When are they looking at bringing someone in?

Here's the FACTS from someone in the school system. The head football coaching job has been posted. The Director of Schools is taking applications and resumes through Nov. 20. The Director and the board hopes to fill the position by the end of November. Several "homers" have applied and there are RUMORS of others from NE Tennessee and other places.

    Respectfully,

    Coach b. UCHS

  9. This whole issue is absolutely ridiculous, you run track you follow the rules. this one is pretty simple, take your jewelry off. Thats pretty simple, you signed up for this sport, therefore you signed up knowing you would be asked to take your jewelry off. As a runner this greatly frustrates me, i get tired of having to wait additional time for my race to start because some punk wont take off a necklace or bracelet.

Thanks for your support of doing what is right.

    Coach b.

  10. Amen Coach B. I am sure a lot of athletes think the jewelry rule and parts of the uniform rule are picky and pointless. While I might agree, they better learn in the early meets before they face a major consequence in a big meet. I have seen several athletes dq'ed from regional track meets for competing with jewelry-even though they had been warned to remove it.

I still remember a shot putter who was told to remove his state championship football ring. He told the official it was stuck and wouldn't come off. He was told, "then you are no longer in this competition." That ring came off in a matter of seconds.

We were told by the Executive Director of the TSSAA, in our track rules meeting several years ago, to give the athlete an opportunity to comply with jewelry and uniform rules at the site of the events they are participating in.

Sometimes even when given they opportunity to comply they either adopt an "attitude" or won't do it and go running off to their coach (to complain about the coach running off the event) who should know the rules and enforce them before the meet even starts.

It seems to me like " me-itis" from some athletes. I will do what I want when and how I want to. nobody is going to tell me what to do. Thank God that the majority of them are rule abiding. What are the rule breaker's coaches doing? I am a H.S. coach and have been for 19 years. Get control of the "me-ites".

  11. I would like to thank all athletes and coaches who participate in track and field, a great sport, who comply with established rules. Unfortunately there are those who compete who feel that the rules do not apply to them. The "Rule" book, that every school and track coach should get from TSSAA/NFHS etc., has rules that apply to all meets. It becomes ridiculous when meets have to announce about halfway during the meet that athletes will not be allowed to compete with jewelry on. The coaches meeting before the meet addressed that issue along with other BASIC rules. Those who choose to stand for what is right, keep standing firm.

  12. Sorry that should be USJC. We just know them as University High at East Tennessee State University. Please...no disrespect was intended. We are very happy to have them back in our small A-AA conference. they will make us better as a conference.

    Coach b.

  13. According to the TSSAA website, USJC has entered a Track schedule. This should shake up the east considerably in terms of distance. I thought Coniglio could easily cruise back to state this year, but it looks like he will have some stiff competition. However, the best I remember a lot USJC's CC runners play soccer, so that may change things a little.

Best of luck to all this season. Even the middle section. I hope your heads don't explode from ego-tripping on this board.

It is true that UHJC has track teams. The coach has attended our conference meeting.
