  1. What an unbelievable high school baseball game. The atmosphere was electric. There were certainly no losers there tonight Congrats to GC, a well deserved win. I saw someone on another thread insinuating 12AA was a weak district. Well, I just saw the 4 seed from that district win the region championship. Everyone there who witnessed that game should tip their hats to the kids from both schools who provided such an entertaining evening.

  2. Wow...who in the world put this bracket together ? Looks like ole spring hill got it set up so they can glide right to the finals.

I think what he meant was, way to glide right through a weak district with little competition. NONE of these district teams will be in the Burro.

    2handswhilelearning... Where are you now?

    crickets... crickets... crickets...

I just can't let the above comment go... can I?

Spring Hill and Giles County will play Wednesday at 7pm in SH for the Region Championship. How weak is this district? District 12AA has a shot of putting two teams in the State Tournament. I'm not saying it will happen but making it to the Sub-State is not an easy thing to do!

Maybe 2hands was at the game...and learned. :roflol: With Goodpasture going down last night, the road to the 'boro got a little easier, but no one can be overlooked at this point. Good luck Raiders!

  3. Congrats to Ezell-Harding and Spring Hill in a great game that came down to the last out. Both pitchers were impressive tonight. Thank you Raiders for a season that no one will forget any time soon. You showed class and determination all year long. Kris and all the rest of us are very proud of you.

  4. Richland and Columbia Academy are the only teams left, Richland in the winners bracket and CA out of the losers bracket, Championship games supposed to be tonight starting at 5:00 but more rain is on the way

    At Richland?

  5. No doubt that kid is a first class player. This Giles/SH series has been a tough one all year. I thought Giles would take it last night with the left handed kid after #30's 2 errors and SH's inability to score late. If Giles could have taken that game, the Championship would have been between Giles and Page. SH would have hung their heads. Well played game, good luck SH in your upcomming games and in the regional. Goodluck to all the teams. District Playoff Champs......Patriots! They are too rested and have fresh arms for Thursday's game. Who will throw for SH?

Dude, you're a trip. SH wouldn't have hung their heads. They already have their prom dates lined up and the weather isn't too good for fishing.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> And since you have deemed Page the distict playoff champs, there's really no need to play the game right?

  6. WAY TO GO AUSTIN !!

He will be the last one to talk about his HR. FIRST CLASS KID /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

You should know about first class kids, you live with one. But yes, you are right on both counts. It was a tough game for the Raiders, the Giles County pitcher held them at bay for most of the night and did a great job. That's one small step for the Raiders, one giant leap for.....well, something /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  7. There was obvious improvement in the East Hickman team this year and I was impressed with what the coach was doing there. You hit the nail on the head easteagle.....the kids deserve better than this. Unfortunately, some so-called adults forget what this is all about. Good luck and best wishes to all the folks there.

  8. Ahhh. Another person thinks who the only factor that makes a pitcher tough to hit is velocity. I'm not sure how hard the kid is throwing right now. I've seen his movement on his fastball, his change up and breaking ball. When he gets the offspeed stuff for strikes, you can't sit on the fastball. He's not inviceable, but there's people I'd rather our team have to face for a sub-state berth.

You're exactly right Wave...90 mph seems to be the point where someone is labeled a stud whether or not he can throw a strike or locate. I've seen many very effective pitchers who throw less than 85 mph. Tom Glavine made a pretty nice career of throwing 2 pitches (slow and slower) to 1 location.

  9. Well, the Raiders have baffled me this season. I did'nt expect this to happen. Giles and Page looked to be my front runners with Marshall and SH fighting for 3 and 4. Page had fallen off mid way through and Giles had that Gallon Jack scandal in Adamsville. I guess I've got to eat my words from earlier in the season, but the history at SH may prove itself again in the playoffs. Sometimes kids want to be kids and they may decide that going fishing and chasing girls is more important than the playoffs. Giles or Loretto will be the team that sends somebody good home. Marshall will play for Joe. Page....who will show up? If Page is back on page, then watch out! SH....how long before the wheels fall off? Page and SH both have two good arms and would be an interesting game (if they make it to that point). District 10AA..."they play to win the game". WILLIE, who said that? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I'm not so sure why SH has baffled you so much. They are a talented, experienced team. If you look at my post before the season started, I said that SH and Page were the favorites and that whoever avoided the upsets and played consistently through the schedule would win. Spring Hill did that, while Page suffered a couple of upset losses. Page is obviously still a very very good team and is still one of the favorites to win the tournment. My opinion is that anybody, except for perhaps HC and EH, is capable of stringing enough wins together to win the tournament.

Are you trying to bait SH by your reference to "history at SH", "going fishing and chasing girls", "how long before the wheels fall off"??? If so, that's laughable. Marshall is capable of beating anyone and I've been impressed with Loretto's progress during the season. Both of them are capable teams. Giles is definitely in the mix as well. In any case, it should be a fun and exciting tournament.

  10. As for LL & Babe Ruth reasons. The curveball tends to seperate players ability more than anything. Good LL/BR players don't always make good HS players.

Yes, the three biggest obstacles for a LL/BR player on his way to high school is the curve ball, perfume, and car keys!

  11. For District 8-AAA, it's head-to-head for any amount of tied teams. Then, if tied, it goes to the tied teams' record against #1 seed, then the #2 seed (if still tied), etc., all the way through the last place team. If that doesn't break the tie, I'm not sure what is next...maybe a coin flip or blind draw. I don't think they do runs allowed or runs scored or anything like that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how it's been done in this district for several years I believe.

Thanks. So if there were a tie between 1 and 2 and they had split, you would go to their records against the #3? I wonder if it's the same in 10AA??

  12. The more I think about it the more I know how the "ton of talent" at SH has came together! Vol5198 said it best... this SH team is on a mission! Looks like Page over looked Loretto!

    Period! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  13. What are you talking about? Overlooking the obvious? I know Page made the fewest mistakes in the game. They also took advantage of the SH mistakes. That is why they won a very good baseball game between two very good teams. 3b21 made it sound like that there was a solution to fixing the errors by pointing a finger at the SH players and making position or player changes. That is the way I took it I guess.

That's what I mean. The only solution I know of to not have mistakes, is to not play the game. Mistakes will happen, even at the highest levels. SH appears to have been pretty solid all year.

  14. A solution? I'm not sure what you mean. The Raiders are 13-2 on the season! I would say that means they have been playing pretty well this season. The players just made a few mistakes that got them beat against a good team. Maybe the players were nervous or pressing a little. Who knows? I'm sure they will bounce back and play a better game today.

Why Willie, you're overlooking the obvious! There is a sure fire solution to eliminating errors---Don't play the game. There are people who get paid a lot of money to play this game and most of them have done it a long time. Yet, they still on occasion make errors, and sometimes at the most unfortunate time....ask Bill Buckner. This was a very good game between two very good teams. In these situations victory favors the team making the fewest mistakes....last night it was Page.

  15. This play is illegal, although most people don't know. A good coach might and you will see down the road of what to come with there play. The shaved of the bat can make a ball shine farther or make a grounder harder.

    Hope more coaches see this. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

    Huh? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
