1st string against 1st string covington won 5-2 when we put our jv in they scored one or two more time but they had 1s stringers in offense looks solid real solid solid qb play by first and second string alot more solid than last year, recievers and tight ends have great hands run solid routs and are very hard to bring down, rb is probably were we have the most depth 3 backs got big minutes in the scrimmage # 21 had well over 100 yards and can make his own hole if nothing is there, #3 looked very good and #7 can lay a lick .Defense is a little shakey the dline im sure will get beter over the summer and our middle line backer had only practiced a few days due to baseball corners looked okay. we should be just fine this year

Know what's funny. Hunter has been playing and winning before anyone had even had a clue who Joe David was. The facts don't lie 2 AAA titles>1 A/AA title. If Hunter does the 3 peat and makes state history there is no way anyone could compare Hunter to Joe David. AAA is bigger and means more than a A/AA. Hunter will become the greatest golfer this state has ever seen.

Posters have mentioned all the talent that is there. Will a new coach be able to mend the fences that this interim coach has broke apart? Why would they have someone in this position who isn't qualified?

Good question if they do not hire a new coach soon i honestly doubt we will have enough baseball players to dress out I played football under this guy and he is very unqualified to coach anything this guy only cares abut one thing himself. hopefuly the new coach will come in make the adjustments and be personable We did the right thing and hired a good football coach now lets do the same for baseball

This is great I really like this hire. A great coach who not only coached an amazing defense but also coached at a school with a well balanced offense as i have heard dca had 1000 yard passers and runners in the last 3 season if can install the pass at covington watch out 3a football. I am ready to see this guy in action

I thought there coach had left? Is the coach you are referring to their interim summer coach? Have they started interviews yet? If not, when will they start. I would think they would want someone in there asap.

yea, it's the summer coach, he trys to run ability in to his players.

A mercy rule in football what joke im going to have to go with the old ball coach on this one its not a teams job to take it easy on another team its the other teams job to keep them from scoring. Play the full 4 quarters most of the time if a team is up by alot they will play 3rd string players in the 4th and if you cant stop them then you probably shouldnt be playing

As for the AA all tourny team, how could you leave Josh Liles off of the team????? Speaking as a Covington fan and graduate, he was by far the best catcher in the field. He hit for a ridiculous avg. somewhere in the neiborhood over .500, dorve in quite a few runs, and was outstanding defensivly. Except for the few bad apples from my home town, I respect the kid for being a kid and being one heck of a ball player. He was a stud the first time I saw him play at 12, and he's still a stud going into his Senior year.

Why dont you go live in Jackson if your such a big fan we dont need you here. Joe Freeman played just as good as Liles in that tounament. The all tourney team is based off of the tournament not what a player has done since he was 12. I guess you think Gant should be above mathis because he only lost 2 games his high school career. Who needs people to rout against us when we got "fans" like you.

I read this story today and couldn't believe my eyes. In a nutshell, if a Connecticut football team wins by more than 50 points in a game, the coach is disqualified from coaching the next game.

I thought maybe Covington had more class, but you have proven time and time again this year that you don't. You don't even know how to be a good winner.

Yea i forgot its only class when USJ says something. Yea last year we suspended 5 players for 8 games even though we know it would hurt us, but thats the right thing to do, something yall know nothing about.

What are you talking about moron, we are the AA State Champions! If some body is licking wounds tonight it would be the Cubs of USJ.

The two best teams did not play for the championship, Goodpasture was far better than USJ. If USJ would have had to play on that side of the bracket they would have been watching the championship game from the stands.

If there was a state championship for people who act like they know a lot about baseball, but really know nothing, USJ posters would win that championship hands down. TOTO, I don't think were in single A any more!

Don't think it will be that close, USJ 6 to 1. Bats seem to be on fire and you know Covington cannot hit Gant.

Congrats to Covington for winning the State AA Championship. You are a fine team. Enjoy it because looking at your roster it looks like a rebuilding period is on the horizon. USJ will be a serious threat for the next several years. I will be very surprised if the Bruins are not back in the thick of things next year.

 

The USJ Bruins had a heck of a year overcoming hurdle after hurdle and I am extremely proud of what these young men accomplished. From Single A Champions to the AA Championship Game in one year is quite an accomplishment.

 

It is my hope that some of the posters that think baseball is life and death will wake up and realize it is just a game. There needs to be less hate in this World and athletics should be a means to create joy and happiness instead of dislike and hostility. Enjoy it for what it is and phrase every young person you can regardless

of their team. Things got way out of hand on this Board a few times this year and I want to apologize to any that I offended. Instead of stones being thrown it would be nice to see more olive branches in the future and I'll be the first to extend one.

State Championship revoked

Tennis player kicked out of the state tennis singles championship for poor sportsmanship.

 

I know USJ has had some high marks as well, but they have had plenty of bad exposure too this year.I`ll get blasted for making this post, but it`s the truth.

 

Congrats to the baseball team for doing so well. I still think it`s not right that the championship is a winner take all. USJ only lost one game in this tournament. Every other team had a chance to have that "one bad game" and stay in it.

All I got to say is Baylor must have one heck of a team to beat CBHS twice. I've seen them play and they are solid 1 through 9. Congrats to Baylor.
