1. Congrats to both Blackman and Cookeville. These two teams lost more from last year than any two teams in the district, yet they still managed to finish at the top. Should make for an interesting district tournament.

  2. well then why is collierville ranked 11 in eurosport

they get destroyed by houston then they turn around and play mckenzie, milan and jackson christian

but the reason why i choose that top 5 is that those teams haven't had a loss in the last 2 weeks that has made them look bad

When the new eurosport rankings come out, i seriously doubt collierville will be ranked. However, shelbyville hasn't lost, but also hasn't played anyone. To be ranked that high, you need to at least have beaten a good team. Shelbyville's a good team. I just don't think they deserve to be ranked that high.

  3. Cookeville 3 - Riverdale 2

As far as the Tyler Morrissey topic, my thoughts and prayers are with the Morrissey family and the entire murfreesboro community during this difficult time.

As far as the cookeville- riverdale game, big win for cookeville. Congrats guys!

  4. Does anybody know how district 7AAA works for the seeding for the distrist tournament? Like how many point for win, tie, and added points for goals. Plus i was wondering how it works since this year white county is only playing half the teams. Do they still take last place and those points not count for the other teams? Or what cause if they count for the teams that they play isnt that unfair for the rest? Thanks.

I believe it is 3 points per win, and 1 point for a tie. As for white county, I believe they are counted as a district win for the teams they do not play, so it doesn't hurt the teams they don't play.

  5. It was a competitive game. The syle of soccer was not pretty. I was very dissapointed in this game. I wish Blackman would have been at full strength.

I think the wind probably had a large impact in the style of play. It was pretty intense.

  6. Cookeville 1, Blackman 1

It was another good game between these teams. Blackman scored first, then a defensive miscue allowed cookeville a breakaway goal. Lots of new faces on both sides, but still a highly competitive game. Was fun to watch.

  7. But as the sporting cliche goes, "Games are played on the field, not on [internet message boards]."

That's a new one on me haha. I generally go with the Michael Jordan quote "If you accept the expectations of others, especially negative ones, then you never will change the outcome."

  8. Why do people feel the districts need to be re-done? I would hate to see 7-aaa be split up, as it is always fun and competitive in almost every sport, especially boys soccer.

I think the districts are just fine how they are. And don't say its too much traveling. In soccer a team from mboro only has to make two 'long' away trips a year.

While geographically it would make more sense to re-district, I would hate to see the competitive rivalries that have developed in 7-AAA disappear, like cookeville and blackman. The games between these two teams over the past several years have been some of the most intense i've ever been a part of. I'd hate to see these teams, among others, not play each other. That's one of the best parts of high school soccer...

  9. Do you all think White Co. has a chance at all to win a district game this year? I have a feeling it's the year.

I think they have a shot to beat oakland. White County was a much improved team last year compared to previous years. I think they could have beaten oakland last year. With that said, I don't know what each team lost or gained this year.

  10. they played cookeville and lost 2-1

I thought it was 3-1. I think having two high schools will only help crossville soccer, especially with club soccer. As for this season, I know SMHS has some good players, but it is difficult to win during a school's first few years. I wish them the best though!

  11. Paul Gilbert, former goalie from Blackman, led Liberty to thier first NCAA Birth, he was also Freshman of the year for the Big South Conference and also got thier First Big South Conference Championship. Paul had a great year.

Wow, that's impressive. I went to Cookeville and he didn't leave on the best of terms, but I'm glad to see he's doing well.

  12. i think he was referring more towards the boy's beating cookeville 3 times last year.

Sorry, but blackman boys didnt beat the cookeville boys three times. They won the two games in murfreesboro; however, the two teams tied the game in cookeville. And cookeville did end Blackman's boys season a year ago. But this is a girls soccer thread, so away from the boys, and back to the girls... Just get the facts right.

  13. oh yeah that is what I like to here. The Blaze taking care of buisness with Cookeville as usual.

blazinkeeper, thanks for the update the other night and keep up the good work.

As usual, you say? The Lady Cavs had beaten the Lady Blaze the previous four times they had met, so no. Not as usual.

  14. Hey, I can say whatever I want to about Cookeville, you sure seem to have plenty to say about me and my teammates at Blackman even after we wopped up on you twice this year.

ok,  that standing ovation was because everyone knew that I was going to move that summer.Lets be serious did you really think that I wasn't going to play soccer for a year? but I do take everyone's anger as a complement. As for Falwell, I think its awesome that he came out and took a stance against things like that.

You sound like the most ignorant, arrogant person I've ever heard. Maybe you will mature once you get in college. We can only hope.

  15. QUOTE(BlackmanSoccerDad @ Apr 26 2007 - 09:49 PM) 826446430Blackman 0 - Cookville 0

Great game by both teams, it was a lot of fun to watch. They both played hard soccer. Both teams had opportunites.

Agreed. The game was great. Both teams showed class which was good to see. These two teams could potentially meet twice more and it wouldn't surprise me at all if that happened.

  16. QUOTE(BlackmanSoccerDad @ Mar 28 2007 - 07:09 PM) 826425175Unfortunately that wasn't the plan. I was sitting at the Bleachers listening to the officers plan. The officer in charge said, "We will all just spread out through the sidelines and said this will show everyone that nothing is going to happen tonight." As soon as that meeting was over, they dispersed down the entire sidelines. I just didn't realize that soccer in Cookeville was that dangerous, even playing against a district rival. I guess I was wrong.

There was the same amount last year as well and we were the only teams then. By the way, None of the officers were over at the other fields where Lacrosee was about to begin, at least from what I could see.

This whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion, because of a couple of athletes last year, really one athlete from Blackman, a few student fans and a few adult fans. Even that incident didn't require a police officer. If the student fans wouldn't taunt individual players, and it's not just our goalie, a lot of things wouldn't happen.

It shouldn't matter if it's a stadium or just a soccer field with no fence. Fans should be fans and cheer for thier teams. Give another team a hard time, yes, to some extent, but don't make it personal. This kind of security is not necessary at other fields in the state, Warren County, Riverdale, when they don't play on the football field, Lebanon, etc.... It's certainly not required when Cookeville team comes and visits us or any of the other teams in the district. That's why I ask the question.

These two teams have become a rival and I love it!! It's good for the game as long as it's clean and not personal. Obviously they both have two great coaches, and they have two great teams. Neither of the teams last year played dirty or went after each other during the game. It was just hard nose, clean soccer in both games. One of the best games I have ever seen. It was the result of the fans on the side lines and if each school's adminstration would talke to the students and parents about what is right and what is wrong, then the game would be that more enjoyable.

As you say the lacrosse game was ABOUT to begin it had not started yet and was never played. And also do not blame the cookeville students. If my memory serves me correctly it was a blackman parent who almost got arrested last year... Maybe the safety of the students is on the minds of the authority figures.
