  1. Hank, rooting for Memphis instead of a fellow District team just makes me laugh. Your really that anti-Riverdale that you would rather see the trophy leave the mid-state. Incredible.... My daughter played 4 years soccer for Riverdale and the Riverdale - Siegel rivalry in that sport is comparable to this one in basketball, but let me tell you, as much as we hated Siegel, when our season was over we rooted for Siegel to win it all. This past season we rooted for Oakland when they made it to state.

If Riverdale had made their layups they would have easily repeated, I think they missed 20 tonite. looks like Memphis wins this year

Riverdale only loses one senior starter so look out again next year

Mr300. Good to see you on here again. I think the issue stems from Riverdale as a team sitting in the stands rooting and cheering for Memphis Central during the MC Blackman game. Riverdale fans sitting in front of the Blackaman parents actively rooting for Memphis Central. All done for this year. The district should be proud and look forward to some great bball next year. Prayers up and out for the Petty girl.

  2. Close game, but I believe Memphis Central is just a little better. Charity stripe will make the difference. Not sure that any officiating crew that I have seen this year have the ability to keep up with the speed of this game. I expect a lot of fouls to be called prior to contact being made. MC by 8.

  3. i don't have a dog in the hunt. but do tssa officals attend these game and rate the refs? are the refs performance not rated during regular season?

Yes and yes. Unfortunately, you are seeing the highest rated ones.

  4. I call B.S. on Coach Hibdon cursing.

    Ditto.

As one that knows kids in the student section that have crossed that sportsmanship line (yes it happens at Blackman), there is a reason beside school support that there is usually 2 assistant principals in attendance at each game, with one within a row of the student section. Poor sportsmanship is addressed at the game and at school the next day. If the principal receives calls from opposing teams regarding sportsmanship, it's a bad day for the coach and the team. One example of which I have several, was a call to Riverdale a few years ago about some signs posted by cheerleaders that used words hurtful to parents with special needs kids was met with Riverdalemans "Kids will be kids" response from administration. Problems with respect and sportsmanship seems to be systemic at Riverdale.

  5. ...BUT unfortunatly it is what they see on TV and at MTSu games...

    GO LADY WARRIORS

Waited a day before posting about the chant there at the end of the game yesterday by the Riverdale team. In agreement with ABRD. They also see people shooting each other and using drugs. Oh well that's what they see on TV. Give me a break.

Of course, if the other half of the team gets their nails done at the mall, like half did this morning. They may play the same way tomorrow, and not be able to pull it out in the end.

  6. Posted it on another thread as well, but since I ran my big mouth here.. Congrats to Riverdale, Overton, Science Hill and Memphis Central. Extremely proud of the character that Blackman showed this entire year. just wasn't our night tonight. Go hard and play safe.

  7. where have you been all season...

Doing more reading of posts that replying. Your posts on this game or that game not meaning anything almost drew a response. I was waiting till the end of the season to comment on that one. For example, if you happen to fall short this afternoon (don't think it is going to happen btw) is this season a complete failure because only Saturday's game matters? This one just struck a nerve.

As usual, I won't identify any player by name or number on a negative action. They are children. A coach dropping F bombs from the bench during a game is a different story. If I knew the names of the officials that provide inconsistent calling, I would name them as well. I was told by a Region 3 school administrator that the lady official that had her blinders on was not welcome at three of their gyms any longer.

  8. My daughter is on the list as well and has never been to any of his camps. They're some other girls on his list who hasn't been to any of his camps as well....

Please understand, I am happy for your daughter, and hope that it leads to great things for her. The same is true for all the girls on the list. It is the credibility of the inclusiveness of the list that is in question, not the players on the list. Look at his list since about 2006 and see if there is not a pattern of particular areas of the state that he focuses on more than others. Just for reference, there will be three freshmen that will be starting in the Women's NCAA tournament for their respective teams. One was listed in his best of the rest for last year while the other two were not on his national or regional lists at all.

  9. unfortunatly i wasnt there to comment on shaking of the hands but i wonder if our girls were shuffling to get their hardware was because they were confused by getting booed by the fans

bias media and officiating REALLY?...we will have to agree to disagree

As you said, you weren't there. Fans with orange clapped for all getting hardware. On the officiating REALLY! Seen the video of punches being thrown to kidneys with the official staring straight at her and her not calling a thing. REALLY! And yes, it has been sent to the administration along with the audio of Wild's foul mouth.

  10. True that. I ask because of the first few lines of the initial post:

    Including January-April 2011 Updates

Tennessee’s Top Rising Prospects For 2010-2011

I agree credibility of list is suspect. I know that it says For 2010-2011, but there are 25 seniors listed out of the 98. If you look at his site, enourages you to hurry up and sign up for a camp because they had to turn so many away last summer. Then goes on to state "Regardless of your playing ability, there is a spot for you at “Blue-Chip.†So is there room or not? All of the quotes regarding caliber of camp are attributed to "Tennessee Women's College Coach", "Pick-a-state" Women's College Coach". I think he built a name for himself on the guys side of the sport. Remember Recruiting Service is his business.

To answer your question at the same time not answer your question, several D1's and some NAIA schools. Not my kids and don't want to mess up their chances by speaking out of turn.

  11. Sorry Blaze, flame is going to be put out Memphis Cent by 10

Maybe, maybe not, we shall see. That's why we play the games. None of the pundits thought Blackman could beat Riverdale either. They don't have to be able to beat them through a series of games, just once. Just think it will be a closer game than 10. More like 3 to 6. This team; led by a very good group of seniors, seem to be playing better ball than at any time I have watched them. Glad that Central already has their ticket punched to the finals. I would like to see a Science Hill Blackman match-up on Friday.

    GO LADY BLAZE

  12. No Amy Duke or Katie Smith or Kelsey Nowlin from Blackman. This dude has no credibility as far as I'm concerned. I think I shall refer to this dude from now on as Rick Jokus.

Yeah! Must be like those lists you see about soccer. Unless the H.S. coaches agree to help at the camps, girls get ignored. Do not misunderstand. There are some top notch players on that list and they should gladly accept the recognition. Just not the be all end all list of those that will succeed at the next level.

  13. ...joke...

You said joke so I am assuming that you meant for us to laugh :roflol: at your post. All opinions until Thursday night. Even that R-dale homer Kreager said that the lower half of the bracket was the toughest. R-dale is the odds on favorite, no doubt. Wish I had a crystal ball as good as yours. It must see things like sniffles, colds, flu, freak sprains and the like.

I think you are right. MTSU saves the parking hassle and we award the gold ball Thursday morning. And the audacity of TSSAA allowing a non AP ranked team in the tournament, while deserving teams like Mount Juliet, Walker Valley, White Station or even Jefferson County sit at home. And since we are laughing, I think Blackman should save the bus money, and go ahead and turn in their jerseys and start planning the banquet. Lord knows that they have not had any significant wins this year. Playing teams like Sisters of the Weak and Tired, Nogame High, and Cheerleader County.

Thanks for the laugh. :thumb: Go Hard and play safe to all 8 teams. Decide it on the floor.

    GO LADY BLAZE!

  14. Looking forward to a great game and a big BLAZING Victory!! :) Since the prevailing thought among Riverdale Fans seems to be that none of these games are important and it doesn't matter if they lose them, why don't y'all just concede tonight and ensure I don't have to make that long drive on Saturday!! That way, I'll be able to catch the first half of the Vandy Game and make the Sectional Game on Saturday night at Blackman. Works for me and I'm sure not too many Blackman fans would complain!! :)

    GO BLAZE!!

Maybe just me, but I like the way you think. That said, I think they will decline. Should be a good tussle tonight. Just a phrase not inciting rough play.

  15. What is going on with 4AAA? Less than 12 hours till the 4th matchup between Riverdale and Blackman and nothing on the board? It may be quiet on here, but I expect the rafters to be shaking in Lavergne around 7 tonight. Good luck and safe play to both teams. More luck to Blackman of course.

  16. Do you all not have open zoning down there? Blount County kids can pay a nominal fee and go to Maryville or Alcoa. Is it not that way where you are at? I would assume that if you can do it in one area that it would be legal in all areas.

No open zoning. Part of the problem is as Warrier82dad indicates. All at the feet of the school board. The zoning is so messed up, it prevents the HS coaches from helping out at the middle schools. No real feeder system left to the high schools. A HS coach might be dealing with a kid at a middle school that will be zoned for a different HS, then all the recruiting weenies come out of the woodwork just because he showed a kid how to spin or swim a double team. Not sure what the T$$AA rules are, but it would be good if two or three of the head coaches would get together and offer a month long camp during the spring for the middle school kids that want to get better. Yeah, you might be coaching up a kid that is going to be on the opposite sidelines, but most coaches that I know want to see all kids improve. It might need to be a paid camp so that it doesn't violate any TSSAA rules. Soccer has been doing this for years through Murfreesboro Soccer Club. Granted that there is no real "team" focused activities, but I think individual technique could be greatly improved. Just my opinion. I still see Rdale as a powerhouse in the county, just going through what many schools have to do to stay competitive. I remember when they used to say that Blackman had a bunch of good hardworking kids and it was a shame that good kid didn't mean good football player.

  17. Prediction

    Blackman 31 Smyrna 24.

Blackman 10 Smyrna 3 at half.

Mathers 210 on the ground. Strickland passes for 115 and 2 TD's. Smyrna out rushes Blackman on the night but stalls on first two drives. Ankle keeps Bryson as non-factor other than leadership. Or so the crystal ball says.
