WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE THE LAST TWO GAMES AT CENTRAL BECAUSE THE PLAY THE BEST TWO IN THE DISTRICT. I THINK THAT CENTRAL WILL BE HURT SINCE THEY HAD 2 KIDS GET KICKED OFF THE TEAM THIS WEEK.. IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN ONE IS THE BEST WIDERIECEVER. Just keep ur eyes on Slack at MC, He is the TOTAL package, not just on the field but in the classroom!! He has set great numbers running the ball as a whole! He is a Complete package for anyone that is recruiting, let's not forget not only the talent (which he has plenty of) but the academics and he has that also!
I reallly like this kid and wished the other kids on his team would be a total package like he is!!

I have heard alot about this horseplaying that went on. Coach, you know yourself that it was horseplay but it got real serious when the kid blacked out!! Horseplay in my thinking went to simple assualt but a good cover-up is always great for a great player!!. I am very disappointed in just making this kid run. I do not care who started the horseplaying but for a kid to be held long enough to black-out is very serious. But hey,, I guess it is starting to run ramped at both McMinn County High schools. Last year two starting players for McMinn came to Central and beat a kid real bad.. You know what they got? They got to sit out one quarter of the jamb... Great morals we are setting for these young kids. I can't believe the coach would even tell his players after this problem not to tell their parents what goes on in practice. Coach,, you reallly need to get a hold of this before it gets worse!! The principal didn't even know about what happen till after the fact. I mean real late after the fact! I am a Central fan and I like you coach but you need to stand up and be counted on this one!!

OK, ok,, here is the way I feel!!!!! If a coach is going to cheat,, what makes the TSSAA think this 50% rule is going to help stop him? If a coach is cheating he is going around the rules and will still do it. Nothing will change but to the ones that are truly going by the rules.
You make a great point coach.. A cheater is always going to be a cheater. the 50% RULE WILL NOT STOP IT.

Head coaches can't coach their own players after the end of that sport season until the end of the school term.
A way around that ,is if the girls coach instructs the boys squad , and the boys coach instructs the girls squad.
The 50% rule keeps that from being effective as a squad builder.
I agree with you, any gym time is time well spent. Fall leagues are part of that.

It took 4 years to get basketball out of "Q's" program, how long will it take to get the "Q" out of their basketball program???
You know,,, that is a very deep question.... mmmmmmmmmm Have to really think on this one.

Well, to be fair, the coach is just starting. He hasn't had a real chance to work with the team and these camps are probably the first time that he has seen them play. Add to this the fact that these girls as a team, probably don't have more then 100 minutes playing time on the varsity floor and just about all that time is from only one player, and that means they are young and inexperienced. I alson think that of all the schools that are going to suffer from the new rules changes dead periods, 50% rules, etc. McMinn is going to be hit harder then any other school. These girls NEED to be in the gym, ALL SUMMER. They are our "cross-creek" rivals, but I do hope they improve. I pull for them all but twice a year. We'll see how they do, and believe it or not, I do hope they do well.
I am not down on him right now but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will have to see if they have gotten the Q out of the basketball program!!!

I really hope that the coach gets a handle on the girls before the season starts. I hate that they did all the things they did at that camp.. Maybe he will show more sportsmanship in the coming weeks.

McMinn has a new head basketball coach for the girls. Coach McPhail is taking over the program that is in shambles after the last coach. I wish him the best of luck in helping this program from dropping more than it has. I just read an article in the DPA today that stated that Coach Q has resigned from his coaching job. I can't believe that it also stated that one of the reasons he quit was because of 6 seniors graduating this year. If a coach quits he needs to quit his teaching job at that school and his coaching job also not just his coaching job. This will make room for someone that wants to coach this Basketball team !!!!

He didn't retired he left them!! I think they needed a change anyway. I do not think it is right that he is still teaching there. I believe if you quite you should move on and that means everything.. Give room for a new coach..

There is a 50 percent rule for fall leagues. The 50 percent rule is only in affect during the school year prior to their season ie fall league.
I guess I don't have a kid playing but if a coach gets their team for 15 days during the month of June, and then in July the kids can play on their own AAU teams coached by someone else, I don't see what the big deal is.
I really don't think you understand that most Sub-state AAU games are played in April and the state AAU is played in May.. This does cause a real problem for us parents that love the game of basketball and so do our girls..!!!!!!!!!!

Tellico is a very good team.. They have one player that averages over 20 points a game and is the real deal. . The only way Central is beating them is by the bench they have. I am thinking it will be a Central vs Tellico in the finals.

Well, McMinn is out of the picture now. Cumberland ran them to death and the season is over for the Cherokees. Oh well, maybe next year or am I just hoping?

Central came out on top as for the schedule for the tourn. Tellico has Polk in it and both Central and Tellico are already in the semis...

I have not said that Coach Derrick isn't a good coach.. But when you turn your head incident after incident he needs to start doing a good long look.. You had the quarterback chock a kid till he passes out.. then you have two kids come to school high,, I do know that coach did kick them off the team (great for him) but you have the quarterback get in a fight in the feild house and all he does is run again? WHen do you say,, hey,,,enough is enough!!!! I love Central and when the morals are an issue ,, they need to be addressed!!
