  1. He may very well be the best offensive high school football player to ever play in Tennessee. Without Golden Tate JPII would get killed by most teams on their schedule.

Totally agree, this kid is unbelievable. I personally watch quite a bit of HS football and regardless of the division, he has talent very rarely seen at his level. He's a man playing amongst boys. He's quick, elusive and has extraordinary vision. I'm anxiously awaiting to see where he selects to attend.

  2. Not a good night for the Cats but it could have been worse. I don't think you can say it all that often but Tate beat Greenbrier pretty much by himself last night. On two of the scores, the Cats had their hands on him in the backfield or at the line but didn't wrap up. You make that mistake against a player like Tate and he's going to kick it outside and out run you.....which he did. He's a great talent but he would be even better if he would learn to pull in the attitude a bit. One thing that really stood out to me was that Tate pretty much was the only offense that PJP could generate. Some of the other backs had a few good runs but their offense never seemed to have any momentum and outside of a couple of dump passes..... the passing game was pretty much nonexsistent. They should be a strong team this year but Tate had better stay healthy.

As for Lipscomb.... Greenbrier has got the win for the last two years and it was always in DLs first game of the year. This year, DL will already have a tough one under their belt after tonight's matchup with Goodpasture. DL at home is going to be another difficult one but GB definitely needs to go in planning for the win.

Why is it that you say Golden has an attitude?

  3. i saw wesley tate in the greenbrier scrimmage.

    impressive for a sophomore

not impressive for a varsity tailback

only thing about aaron bateman is he can play both ways all game long.

lets see golden show us that

Aaron who? Didn't see him in the rivals/scout or espn insider rankings.

  4. You can still be ranked and be an athlete. Brandon Warren was the #3 athlete in the nation when the rankings first came out last year, and at the end of the year he was the #1 weakside DE in the nation.

You know the reason he wasn't ranked could be that there really are 100 players in the nation better than him, it's not that farfetched ;).

I,m giving you the reason that was given by the people who selected the Rivals 100, maybe if you bothered to view more of the internet than Coach T website you'd this. In addition there are probably 100 HS players better than he but I'd bet you're not one of them. ;) ,

  5. The reason given by Rivals why Golden wasn't a member of the Rivals 100 was because he has not selected a position in which to play. He is classified as an athlete and not a RB or WR etc etc... In my eyes I would think that classified as an athlete would make one more valuable because he can play several positions well. :thumb:

  6. I was shocked not to see Golden in the Rivals 100 listing. I'm currently assisting him with selecting the RIGHT school for him and I'll tell you that he has received letters from just about EVERY BIG NAME school that's out there. I think not being on the list will make him go out and prove the selection crew wrong, so buckle your seat belts and brace for shock  .

  7. Golden's dad was second to none other than Jerry Rice for total college receiving yards in 1983. Jerry had 3,011 yards and Golden Jr. (JPII Golden's dad) had 2,885 yards.

Can you tell us a bit about his dad? Where did he play? First I have heard about his dad playing ball.

    Thanks

    VG

His dad, Golden Jr., was a hellofva football player. He set and still holds WR records from 1984 at TN State University and was later drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. He later played in the USFL, but unfortunately injuries and other issues ended his career. Golden III's parents are divorced and the dad resides in Atlanta.
