1. QUOTE(bigyomca @ Jun 5 2007 - 02:17 PM) 826471649Got beat in the Semi's by the St. Louis Eagles , finishing the weekend 5-1, 24-4 on the year. The Y had beaten the Eagles in pool play. The Eagles beat the Jackson Tigers for the championship.

    Andre Hollins

    Bobby Parks, Jr.

    Wayne Martin, Jr

    Tevin Cox

    all made all-tournament.

They also got invites to the Jr. All-American camp June 29-July 1 in D.C.

Is the Jackson team from Mississippi ?

  2. QUOTE(voldar @ May 21 2007 - 04:23 PM) 826464149I don't know what the name of the tournament was but the Tennessee Bucks did play great. The kid you are talking about is Demetrics Whitehorne. He did not play in a couple of tournaments earlier in the year because of a sprained ankle but he played tremendous last night against the Stallions. He probably had 25 plus points. The Bucks have a couple other kids step up big time for them and they were able to win or finish second in a couple of tournaments without Whitehorne. I believe they should be favored at the Division II state but one of their main subs, the Yolk, from Lexington will be in New York during the state tournament.

The Whithorne kid is a super ball player. they seem to play good together. Who else is playing in the state? Maybe they have 2 teams because they were definately at the warrior rumble in murfreesboro this weekend.

  3. QUOTE(voldar @ May 21 2007 - 02:43 PM) 826464087Last night was a great championship game played at the Salvation Army court between Memphis Stallions and Tennessee Bucks based out of Bolivar. The Bucks played last year as the Bolivar Tigers(they won the Division II State last year) but have picked up several players this year. The Bucks led for most of the game with O'Neal Woods hitting several NBA range 3 pointers in the game. The Stallions had their work cut out for them but pulled it out in the end 82-80. Saw lots of talent on the floor for both teams and the intensity level was unbelievable. The Bucks try to defend their state championship in a couple of weeks.

I thought the Bucks were playing in the warrior rumble yesterday. They lost to a team out of Alabama. I saw the bucks earlier in the year and they did not have the big kid that they had last year. Does he still play for them? What tournament were they in against the Stallions?

    Pool B

    1. Y

    2. Travelers

    3. Clarksville

    4. Stars

The Stallions had won the state from 9-13, 5 years in a row.

    Top 7 advance to Orlando.

I thought the Stallions had always won the State. It sounds like it was a close game. What was the final standings 5-8.

  5. QUOTE(bigyomca @ May 14 2007 - 12:15 AM) 826458740The YOMCA beat the Stallions by 3 for the championship.

What were the results in Pool Play ? Who finished 5-8 ? Is that the first time the Stallions did not win the State championship ? How many teams going to Nationals?

We know each other but not like best friend talk on a regular basis. I know some people who have kids that attend Blackman

So when is the game between Blackman anf Laverne. Mt Juliet is solid, very strong team. Laverne has a good team also.

I have a feeling that MLK will beat JFK for the Western Division Championship but I think that JFK will rebound to win City over MLK.

Very Good Observation from everyone. I think the top four teams are Haynes, JFK, MLK. I am not sure about JT Moore. I think Wright has a better overall team than JT Moore. Haynes is going to be hard to handle, the guard did play with Jere Baxter. He was the MVP of the Middle School Tournament Last Year, very talented. The Big man seems strong inside and they play solid defense.

Jfk has super perimeter players, they have four kids that can beat you off the dribble. MLK has a force inside as well and good guard play, they are very disciplined and play good team ball.

I think JT Moores lack of discipline will hurt them. Wright has better guard play and a decent big man.

  8. Based on the website it seems the Thunder had a very good tournament. They reached the final eight. They won all of their pool play games and then won several close games after that. They were one win away from reaching the final four. The Stallions did very well as always. They did very well in pool play and then won some good games. :thumb: They had the opportunity to place 6th. Congratulations to the Stallions and the Thunder.

Job well done to the Stallions and Thunder. I heard that the point guard for the Thunder had tape on his finger the entire tournament, the shooter for the stallions hurt his leg and did not play. Does anyone know what happened to them ? I wonder how well the teams would have done if they did not have injuries. What happened to the Young Vols,Elite and Clarksville Stars, they did not play in the Nationals. Are there anymore tournaments for 13 under ? I know the 12 and 14 nationals will be starting soon. Tenn should do very well in the 14 age group based on the State tournaments. If the top teams in 13 in the Nashville or Clarksville area are still playing, please post the tournament information and who is playing. I know it is early but what team is going to be the team to beat for next year.

  9. The Bearcats may be third or fourth just in Middle Tennessee. There are two Clarksville teams that are not bad and the Tennessee Thunder could be the best in Middle Tennessee if they correct some minor things. I've seen them play twice and selfish guard play almost cost them both times. They have three big men that are hard to stop if the ball is fed down to them. The other problem is that they have a good-hearted coach that seems to be more of a big kid that plays around with them instead of that hard stern coach that a team like this needs. With some minor guard and coaching adjustments, the Tennessee Thunder could be the sleeper in the State Tournament.

What Clarksville teams are good ? I have not heard of any Clarksville team besides the Stars. The Stars did not seem to be that good. Is there another Clarksville team that is good ? Did the Thunder correct their problems ? Is the Thunder still playing ?

  10. the thunder has two scorers and a scorer/shotblocker in the inside, and they all can rebound. I am a highschool scout and I've seen the bearcats, ellite, young vols, stallions, stars, and both wareagles and i guarantee you know one in the 13& under state can compete with the thunder's inside game. However, I agree they have selvish gaurds with a pasion. If they fix some minor ereas they mihgt not only be a top competitor in the state, they might surprise a few people in the Div.2 nationals.

The thunder does seem to have 2 main scorers, but allot of their points are from defense. The kid with the braids scores alot in transition, the point guard as well. The kid in the middle scores in half court and transition. The big shot blocker scores from put backs...The last time i watched them they had another big kid inside, and also a new perimeter player i had not seen.. I think they will do well in the Nationals because of their defense. The kids play hard nosed defense that smothers teams... The last time i watched them, i did not notice selfish guard play..I think all of the Tn teams will do well in the Nationals. The Stallions, War Eagles, Bearcats and young vols.. The 13 division is a strong division from top to bottom...

  11. I guess now that 13u state is all over when its said and done the TN Bearcats are probably one of the best teams in MIDDLE TN is not THE best even though they did lose to Thunder but placed higher than they did.

When looking at who can be more succesful in Nationals you gotta believe they'll be better off but you never know. Like I posted before I dont have a horse in this race, I really enjoy watching them play.

Did the Clarksville Stars win any games in State? How come AAU replaced a team?

Based on all of the posts i have read. It appears all of the teams in one pool had the same record. The Bearcats, Young Vols and Thunder. They all lost to each other. I am not sure how the Bearcats would be the best in Middle Tennesse if they lost to the Thunder. The thunder led the entire game. I am not sure how the Bearcats would be more succesful in a National tournament. The Clarksville Stars struggled the entire tournament.
